In the fall of 2016, the FLPO worked with 20 middle school students from the School for Agricultrual and Environmental Studies to release 4,000 walleye in the 4 to 8-inch range and 200 muskies of 11 to 14 inches into Fox Lake. The success of the annual fish-stocking program is made possible by fundraising events, donations, and FLPO membership dues. The generous financial support and the time and effort of volun- teers assure that Fox Lake remains a top-rated fishing lake.

20 Discover Fox Lake | 2018 Visitor’s Guide Cemetery Walk Stroll to take place on July 7 in the original Waushara Cemetery, now part of the Riverside Memorial Park located at the North end of Center Street. Participants will be led through the cemetery in small groups. Cost is $4.00 for adults and $1.00 for Children. Everyone is welcome to come and get a real taste of what it was like for these settlers to leave their homes, travel great distances by foot or ox cart and carve out a spot in a new territory. They met Native Americans that they could not talk to at first, and endured years of back-breaking work to create a better place for their families. These settlers have never before been honored at a Cemetery Walk. Typhoid Fever struck Fox Lake in 1894. Anna Bloss, known as Annie by her family, died in 1894 of the fever. She had lived with her family on State Street in Fox Lake. John Miller lived in Fox Lake and went off to battle in the Civil War when he was a little over 30 years old. Come to the Cemetery walk and learn of his unit. Irene Root came to Fox Lake in 1841 with her family, she met F.O. Root and they were married. Come and hear the rest of Irene & F. O.’s story. Each and every ghost has a tale to tell. 4th of July Celebration This celebration is sponsored by the Fox Lake Chamber of Commerce with donations from local businesses and individuals and will be held on Saturday, July 7. A free Concert in the Park kicks off the evening at Riverside Park. MonRo will play from 6:30 p.m. until dusk. Food and refreshments will be served. Bring your family and friends, a lawn chair or a blanket. One of the area’s best fireworks displays begins at dusk. Come by car or boat. The fireworks on the lake pack a double whammy as the fireworks explode in the sky and reflect on the water. Riverside Park and the public boat launch area at Riverside Park offer excellent viewing. The west and north shores of the lake also offer great viewing opportunities. Many people board boats and go out to the “small” lake to watch the show. When the fireworks end, stick around and watch the parade on the lake as all the lighted boats head for home. The alternate rain date for fireworks is Sunday, July 8. 13th Annual December to Remember Fox Lake welcomes you to this celebration, held at the Fox Lake Community Center on Saturday, December 8, sponsored by the Fox Lake Chamber of Commerce. The event starts at noon and is free and open to the public. It includes fun activities such as hairstyling, cookie and cupcake decorating, ornament painting, a coloring contest and other activities. Visit Santa and his Christmas friends, and be sure to bring a camera. Adults can enjoy shopping, raffles, silent auctions, and delicious bake sale items. Lunch will be available for purchase. The parade of lights begins at 5 p.m. Line up is at the corner of Mill and State St. with parade ending at the Fox Lake Com- munity Center. Following the parade, Santa will hand out candy to the children. Enjoy school band performances and local carolers spreading holiday cheer. The City of Fox Lake will provide a free dinner to the community. Bring a non-perishable food item for our food pantry. For more info, visit the Fox Lake Chamber of Commerce for schedule of events, to volunteer, or to submit float entries.
