The goal of this deliverable is to present the sampling strategy and the data collection techniques and tools that will be used in HARMONY pilot areas to collect the data needed for modelling purposes in WP4 to WP8. More specifically, it focuses on designing the questionnaires, preparing and customising the smartphone-based travel survey tool for collecting primary data, designing the survey participants support interfaces (helpdesks), as well as developing the sampling strategies to be used in each pilot area. For the HARMONY areas Oxfordshire and Turin a passenger travel demand survey for each one of them are designed. The questionnaires for passengers will collect both quantitative and qualitative data regarding individual and household socio-economic characteristics, mobility tool ownership, attitudes and perceptions towards multimodality, traditional and new mobility services. state-of-the-art experiments using serious gaming techniques are designed to capture individual’s preferences for a residential location, mobility tool ownership, mode choice, app-based mobility usage and spatiotemporal activity changes given new mobility services and spatial policies. In addition, the Oxfordshire travel demand survey is enhanced with further attitudes and perceptions about AV buses for the before-during-after survey that will accompany the AV-bus f demonstration. Two rounds of interview questionnaire surveys targeting stakeholders who will get involved in the demonstrations, were designed for the “before and after” demonstrations of: 1. AV vans for freight, 2. unmanned aerial flying vehicles (UAVs) for freight, and 3. The collaboration of AV van and drone demonstrations in Oxfordshire. For Rotterdam, the same interview questionnaire survey is used for the stakeholders that will be involved in the demonstration of AV-vans for freight following the same two “before and after AV-van freight demonstration” approach. In addition, only for Rotterdam. The questionnaires for the freight stakeholders in Rotterdam and Oxfordshire are also designed to collect information about their decisions and barriers to adopting new technologies (i.e., AVs and unmanned aerial flying vehicles (UAVs)) or services (i.e., crowd-shipping). For Trikala, four questionnaires (two for pharmacists and two for residents) are designed for the “before and after” unmanned aerial flying vehicles (UAVs) freight demonstrations. Moreover, an online questionnaire after unmanned aerial flying vehicles (UAVs) freight demonstration was designed for the residents of the broader area of Trikala. The passenger and freight questionnaires were translated for each case study area in the local language.
