Increasing Use of Antenatal Care Services NIGERIA Among Women in Sokoto State The Breakthrough RESEARCH project conducted a behavioral surveillance survey for health among women who had a pregnancy or birth in the previous two years. Survey Findings for Sokoto State The behavioral surveillance survey identified three important factors for improving women’s attendance of antenatal care four or more times (ANC4+) during pregnancy. Geologically, it represents parts of the south eastern sector of the Iullemmedan basin and it contained important phosphorite deposits. Field study and sampling from the type locality in Sokoto cement industry indicates that the phosphate rock varies in size and colour, occurring in beds and disseminations majorly in the Sokoto Group of sediments. The field data, geology, pedology and elevation data for Sokoto state was reclassified using geospatial analysis to access their suitability for phosphate rock prospecting, ranking from the highly suitable to the highly unsuitable. These data was now incorporated as one for spatial analysis and together with result from geochemical analysis of the phosphates rock was used to produce the suitability map for phosphates rock in Sokoto State. -

Department of Agriculture, Sokoto State Polytechnic, Sokoto, Nigeria B. Z. Abubakar and A. A. Barau Department of Agricultural Extension and Rural Development, Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, Nigeria Abstract The study was carried out to assess the benefits derived from SACDP/IFAD through community based participatory projects in Bodinga zone. The zone comprises four villages from two local government areas. All the four villages were purposively selected for the study. Eighty (80) respondents were randomly selected and interviewed using structured questionnaire (60 male and 20 female). Data collected was analyzed using frequency and percentages. Results revealed that majority of the respondents are men, married and within their active productive age. Results further show that majority of the respondents have benefitted from one project or the other and have subsequently replicated similar community based initiatives. It is recommended that vigorous efforts be put in place by both donor agencies and government to enhance rural people derivation of benefits from community based participatory projects and participation in self-help initiatives.
