Hotels at UNESCO world heritage site

The Amsterdam District Foundation has set itself the goal of developing activities to promote the positive image of the Amsterdam . The Foundation hopes to achieve this goal by forming a commitment between hotels, restaurants, museums and shops in the historic canals of Amsterdam. It wants to communicate under a common denominator and thus reinforce the activities of the members individually and the members together, with an emphasis on mutual cooperation. Hotel outside the UNESCO world heritage site Amsterdam is a relatively small city. With public transportation (metro at 5 minutes walk) you will be able to reach Central Station within 20 minutes.

Travel information and transportation

By car: Amsterdam is very easy reachable, and is indicated everywhere In the Netherlands. This needs no further explanation. Please note that driving in the center of Amsterdam can be very hectic, takes a lot of time and parking your car will be very expensive.

If you come by car, the most easy and cheapest way to park your car is at the Parka and Ride car parks (P + R). Here you can park your car nearby the city, the costs are low. The only thing you have to do, is use public transportation after you have parked your car, and when you go and collect your car. By train:

International trains all stop at Central Station Amsterdam. From Central Station you can go to your destination using a taxi or public transportation. Using a taxi in Amsterdam can be quiet expensive.

At Central Station there are stops for the buses, the trams and the metro. Amsterdam has a brand new metroline (North-South line) since the summer of 2018. Please check the website of your hotel to see what is the best public transportation for you. You need a ticket from GVB for your public transportation. In some trams you can buy your ticket on board. Please note that you can’t pay cash in tram or bus, only creditcard or PIN.

By airplane:

You arrive at the airport of Schiphol when you will be traveling by plain. The city of Amsterdam is easy reachable by taxi. At the airport of Schiphol it is indicated where you can find the taxi stand. General warning about taxies in Amsterdam: the prices are relatively high.

The train station is also located at the airport. Here you will find trains that bring you within 15 minutes to Central Station, at least 4 times an hour a direct train. Ticket for the train is available via vending machines (only PIN of creditcard). Prices and timetable you can find easily on www.ns.nl

If you change at Central Station to public transport you can’t use the same ticket.

Public Transportation in Amsterdam

Amsterdam has a fast network of trams, busses and metro. Here you can find more information about the public transport network: https://en.gvb.nl/

For your stay we recommend purchasing a combined ticket for three or four days (how long your stay will be). For three days (72 hours) a ticket will cost € 17,50.
