The Catalan tourism sector has boosted the accessibility of its services, making a reality the principle that a respectful and diverse society should recognise the equality of conditions for people with disabilities. This principle is enshrined in the “Barcelona declaration: the city and people with disabilities” that to date has been signed by 400 European cities. There are many Catalan companies and destinations that have adapted their products and services accordingly.

These researchers, who come from all branches of the economic and social sciences, the huma- nities and law, implement an integrated, multidisciplinary and interna- tionally comparative research program that focuses on Europe’s migra- tion and integration challenges. Within the program, existing research is integrated and new re- search lines are developed that involve issues crucial to European-level policy-making and provide a theory-based design to implement new re- search. The publication program of IMISCOE is based on five distinct publication profiles, designed to make its research and results available to scien- tists, policymakers and the public at large.

  • Architecture for Informal Tourism - Mild Occupation of Landscape Through Campsites
Athens Journal of Tourism - Volume 2, Issue 4 – Pages 223-240 Architecture for Informal Tourism - Mild Occupation of Landscape through Campsites By Xavier Martín Tost The IAM Research group (Investigation in Mediterranean Architecture), from the La Salle-Ramon Llull University in Barcelona, is developing its research on the architecture of touristic settlements. Its aim is to regenerate the coast of Catalonia by examining the close relationship between heritage and landscape. Part of this research has been developed through case studies of campsite settlements as a typology of the mild occupation of natural environment. Main particularity of this kind of settlements is that their implantation in landscape is based on a duality between formal designs provided by architects and informal occupation developed by users in their private plots. In order to recognize qualities of these lightweight and dual architectures of the 1960s, this paper is focused on a comparison between two examples which landscapes are completely opposite. The aim of this research is to raise awareness of the values of these kind of settlements: temporality, nature and informal occupancy. Keywords: Campsite, Informal tourism, Landscape preservation, Mediterranean architecture, Temporary cities. Introduction The aim of the IAM Group (Investigation on Mediterranean Architecture, La Salle – Ramon Llull University) is to analyse and publish information about the architecture of Mediterranean coast, related to both site planning and building construction. Since 2008, the IAM Group has been collaborating with different organizations and institutions, both public and private, related to general topics of the same context. The group is currently developing an R&D project called "Strategies for the Sustainable Regeneration of Tourism Settlements in the Mediterranean coast" (IAM 2012-14).

  • Salou City Guide 2022
SALOU GUIDE - THINGS TO SEE AND DO See inside for details about getting around, sightseeing, shopping, nightlife and more The town of Salou is a favourite destination with British tourists; it’s located on the Costa Dorada, or ‘the Gold Coast', in the Catalonia region of Spain. It is the most visited of the holiday resorts on the Costa Dorada, with a clean, sandy coastline. Salou is just 7 miles from Reus Airport. Salou has become one of the main tourist areas of Costa Dorada, with over two million visitors a year attracted to its hot, golden Mediterranean beaches. Salou has become a popular family resort with its safe shallow waters, friendly locals, Port Aventura theme park and a great variety of entertainment facilities and attractions. Culture Salou, like many other Mediterranean towns, has a rich cultural history. While it doesn’t portray as strong a cultural heritage as the neighbouring towns of Tarragona and Reus, Salou has its own subtleties. The modern buildings built as tourism expanded in the town blend with the classical styled older buildings. The Church of Santa María del Mar was built in 1766, consisting of a church with a walled belfry and single bell, it was mainly used by seafaring folk. It was extended early in the 20th century to its present form. Beaches The popularity of Salou as a holiday resort is largely built on its superb beaches. The coastline of Salou enjoys eight main beaches, each with fine golden sand and inviting shallow waters due to the long beach and slow tide.

  • Anis Del Mono" Factory
Athens Journal of Mediterranean Studies- Volume 2, Issue 3 – Pages 231-246 The Case of "Anis del Mono" Factory. Regenerating Coastal Heritage in Catalonia By Anna Martínez Duran Jordi Gordon Guerra‡ Xavier Martín Tost Anna Peguero Piquer† The "IAM group" (Investigation in Mediterranean Architecture), School of Architecture La Salle - URL, Barcelona, has developed a research project entitled "Strategies for Sustainable Regeneration of Touristic Settlements in the Mediterranean coast". The aim of this investigation is to establish sustainable recycling rules to improve the development of abandoned or obsolete public spaces and buildings on the Catalan seafront. In its aim to restore the coastal heritage, the study focuses on the Modernist factory of Anis del Mono as a case study, and proposes the optimization of existing facilities and an extension of the program with new public uses. The operation aims to establish an open dialogue with the environment, improving the relation with the sea and the city, becoming a reference on the city shoreline. The results of successfully completed architectonic projects can provide us with some universal guidelines that can be used as parameters in similar cases along the whole coast. These transformation strategies are the final goal of our research and are included at the end of the presentation. Keywords: Architectural rehabilitation, Coastal heritage, Mediterranean architecture, Sustainability, Tourism. Introduction The Mediterranean Architecture research group: IAM (Investigation on Mediterranean Architecture), School of Architecture La Salle - URL, Barcelona (Spain) works on the architecture and urban design in the Mediterranean area, and is concerned with all the aspects of the design process: from territory to detail.

  • Word Pictures in the New Testament - Luke
Word Pictures in the New Testament - Luke Author(s): Robertson, A. T. (1863-1934) Publisher: Grand Rapids, MI: Christian Classics Ethereal Library Description: A. T. Robertson was a renowned Greek New Testament scholar. His work on the Greek language is still consulted today. Word Pictures in the New Testament is his insightful treatment of that book. In the Greek New Testament, there are a variety of meaningful pictorial nuances implicit in the Greek constructions. These nuances are often lost in trans- lation. Word Pictures in the New Testament explains them. Robertson examines Greek constructions from many different Testament passages. He provides background to many of the Greek words and their connotations in the original Greek, thereby shedding new light on the meaning of passages. Many readers have gained a new, richer understanding of the New Testament by studying Word Pictures in the New Testament. And although no technical knowledge is required to study this work, familiarity with the Greek language makes this work much easier to digest. Consequently, it is ideal for pastors, theologians, and students of the New Testament. • Upper Bathonian Ammonites of the Catalan Basin (Tivissa and Cap Salou, Spain)
Hantkeniana 3, 25-39 (2001) Budapest Upper Bathonian ammonites of the Catalan Basin (Tivissa and Cap Salou, Spain) Sixto Rafael FERNÁNDEZ-LÓPEZ Departamento de Paleontología, Facultad de Ciencias Geológicas (UCM) e Instituto de Geología Económica (CSIC- UCM), 28040 Madrid, España. E-mail: [email protected] (With 7 figures and 2 plate) The two ammonite successions described in the present paper represent an unusually complete sequence of Upper Bathonian deposits. Ammonites of the Upper Bathonian from Tivissa and Cap Salou (province of Tarragona), two localities of the Catalan Basin, allow to recognize several bio- and chronostratigraphic units commonly missing in the Iberian Basin. The Retrocostatum and Angulicostatum zones (Upper Bathonian) and the lowermost Bullatus Zone (Lower Callovian) established for Submediterranean areas of Europe can be identified in the Catalan Basin. Epistrenoceras and Parapatoceras are common in certain levels. Phylloceratina and Lytoceratina are virtually absent. Two specimens of Upper Bathonian Clydoniceratinae have been identified. However, the Discus Zone established for NW European areas of the Subboreal Province has not been recognized. The ammonite fossil assemblages of the Catalan Basin are composed by Submediterranean taxa during the Late Bathonian - Early Callovian interval. Introduction Upper Bathonian ammonites are very scarce in chronostratigraphic units commonly missing in the the Iberian Peninsula, as a result of non-preservation Iberian Peninsula. This area form part of the faulted in shallow water facies or gaps in the geological eastern margin of the Iberian epicontinental platform record. Several authors have mentioned the scarcity system developed during the Middle Jurassic of ammonites in the Iberian Basin during this (FERNÁNDEZ-LÓPEZ et al.
