COMUNICATO STAMPA Treviso, 31 marzo 2021 VACCINAZIONE CON ACCESSO LIBERO DELLA CLASSE 1935 A CASTELFRANCO SARA’ SPERIMENTATO IL DRIVE-IN Sospesa la vaccinazione degli accompagnatori (n. 62/2021) Sarà sperimentata anche la vaccinazione in modalità drive-in nel corso del Vax Day di sabato 3 aprile, riservato alla classe del 1935. Il drive-in sarà attivo nel parcheggio della discoteca Melodi, a Castelfranco, e sarà riservato, esclusivamente, agli 86enni residenti nei comuni di Castelfranco Veneto, Altivole, Castello di Godego, Loria, Resana, Riese Pio X e Vedelago, per un totale di 419 persone che saranno avvisate dai rispettivi Comuni. I restanti cittadini residenti nel Distretto di Asolo faranno riferimento per la vaccinazione, invece, al Centro Polifunzionale di Vidor. Occupation, Hunger, and Disease. The Great War as Experienced by the Women of Revine Lago in Italy and America by ∗ Teresa Fava Thomas Abstract: This paper explores the transnational experiences of the women of Revine Lago, Ita- ly both at home and as emigrants living in the United States during the Great War. Although, it is hard to evaluate the impact of war on one family, the article focuses on the women of the Grava family, and the misery caused by war. The onset of war in Europe cut emigration. Fa- milies were separated by the conflict and unable to communicate. One Grava daughter was trapped by the Austrian military occupation of the Veneto while her parents, brothers and si- sters remained in America. In the Veneto they suffered death from war, hunger and the milita- ry occupation. In America war brought the death of many in battle and of millions more from disease. Whether in the mountains of Italy or the seemingly peaceful hills of Massachusetts, the Great War exacted its human toll. Introduction This work examines the transnational experiences of the women of Revine Lago, Italy both in their home town and as emigrants living in the United States during the Great War, with a special focus on the period of Austro-Hungarian and German occupation of the Veneto, October 1917 to November 1918. While many studies of this period focus on the experience of soldiers this work focuses on the experiences of women. During their year under the control of the Austro- Hungarian military the women of Revine Lago suffered the brutality of military occupation, forced labor, requisitioning of food supplies which led to hunger and even starvation, as well as disease. -
