Visit our Website GAME RECAP: vs Erie The Saginaw Spirit defeat the Erie Otters, 6-2 Saturday evening on Art Lewis Night at The Dow Event Center in Saginaw, MI. Saginaw honored long-time public address announcer and radio show host Art Lewis before the game. The Spirit finish the season series perfect against the Otters after they beat Erie in the first three games. Six different Saginaw players scored goals in the victory, sparked by Florida Panthers 2017 first round pick Owen Tippett’s early breakaway tally. Busdeker and Danny Katic led the charge in the final of a back-to-back at The Dow Event Center and second time hosting the Windsor Spitfires in seven days. The Florida Panthers prospect, joined the Saginaw Spirit on January 5th after being acquired at the trade deadline. Since joining the Spirit, the Peterborough native has recorded 8 points with 3 goals and 5 assists. Name to Know: Ivan Prosvetov GLENDALE -- Coyotes prospect Ivan Prosvetov is finding his groove in his first season competing in the Ontario Hockey League. Prosvetov, a goalie from Russia w hom the Coyotes drafted 114th overall last year, recently w on nine games in a row for the Saginaw Spirit and w as named the Goalie of the Week for the Canadian Hockey League - w hich oversees the OHL, the Western Hockey League (WHL), and the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). In three games that w eek, Prosvetov, the eighth goalie drafted in 2018, posted a 3-0-0 record, including one shutout, a 1.00 goals-against-average and a .969 save percentage. In that shutout vs. Sudbury, Prosvetov made 54 saves - the most by an OHL goaltender in a shutout in nearly eight years.     BRIDGEPORT SOUND TIGERS: COACHES BIOS BRENT THOMPSON - HEAD COACH Brent Thompson is in his seventh season as head coach of the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, which also marks his ninth year in the New York Islanders organization. Thompson was originally hired to coach the Sound Tigers on June 28, 2011 and led the team to a division title in 2011-12 before being named assistant South Division coach of the Islanders for two seasons (2012-14). On May 2, 2014, the Islanders announced Thompson would return to his role as head coach of the Sound Tigers. He is 246-203-50 in 499 career regular-season games as Bridgeport's head coach. Thompson became the Sound Tigers' all-time winningest head coach on Jan. 28, 2017, passing Jack Capuano with his 134th career victory. Prior to his time in Bridgeport, Thompson served as head coach of the Alaska Aces (ECHL) for two years (2009-11), winning the Kelly Cup Championship in 2011. During his two seasons as head coach in Alaska, Thompson amassed a record of 83- 50-11 and won the John Brophy Award as ECHL Coach of the Year in 2011 after leading the team to a record of 47-22-3. Thompson also served as a player/coach with the CHL’s Colorado Eagles in 2003-04 and was an assistant with the AHL’s Peoria Rivermen from 2005-09. Before joining the coaching ranks, Thompson enjoyed a 14-year professional playing career from 1991-2005, which included 121 NHL games and more than 900 professional contests. The Calgary, AB native was originally drafted by the Los Angeles Kings in the second round (39th overall) of the 1989 NHL Entry Draft.

The study analyzed the existing tourism attractions of the region and then identified gaps and opportunities in Saginaw County, Bay County and Midland County. Based on this analysis, HSP provided specific recommendations for each county to drive hotel room nights, fill gaps in the leisure calendar, and complement the existing assets of the region. Attached is our report.
