NORTH CALGARY INFRASTRUCTURE UPGRADES PROPOSED TRANSMISSION UPGRADES PROJECT OVERVIEW ENMAX Power Corporation (ENMAX) is proposing to replace a 69kV transmission line and associated components between ENMAX No. 27 Substation located at 4236 14th Street NW, and ENMAX No. 13 Substation located at 3439 7th Street NW. The transmission line was installed and commissioned in 1954 and due to deterioration, the structures need to be replaced and updated to today’s standards. The proposed project will mitigate safety concerns and ensure reliability and integrity of the transmission line and electricity supply. PROJECT DETAILS The proposed project consists of the following: • Replacing a total of 39 wood poles and their components in approximately the same location as the existing structures using ENMAX’s new construction standards • All replacement poles will be located in the existing alignment TRANSMISSION STRUCTURES The proposed single circuit transmission poles will be self-supporting wooden monopoles. Pole heights will range from 18 to 29 metres (60 to 95 feet) and will be 14 to 133 metres (46 to 436 feet) apart. The average increase in height for the new poles is roughly three metres.
