This New Year’s Eve, welcome in 2013 at the Miners Foundry Cultural Center with a much anticipated dance party featuring Jelly Bread, one of the hottest , R&B, and roots bands in Northern California and Nevada, and local all-star rock group Achilles Wheel.

Jelly Bread, emerging out of Reno, NV, is a tour de force of full frontal funk, thoroughly steeped in a Rock-Americana style, with a dash of rollicking indie alt-rock radio appeal. The band is fronted by award winning and lap steel player, Dave Berry, and vocalist and beast of drummer, Cliff Porter. The band’s ability to meld the elements of a high desert twang and Oakland funk & rock through musical alchemy produces a chameleonic playlist highlighted by dual vocals that bounce between native chanting at a bluegrass barbeque and a gospel singer fronting a rock band at a Sunday morning service.

The band’s influences range from the likes of Stevie Wonder, & Parliament Funkadelic to the reaches of modern contemporaries like Robert Randolph, ’s , Ben Harper and the John Butler Trio.

The group is coming off of a series of much talked about performances that included the Strawberry Music Festival and Railroad Earth’s Hangtown Halloween Ball. They have also shared the stage with , Ivan Neville’s Dumpstaphunk, G Love & Special Sauce, Robert Randolph & The Family Band, Roy Rogers & The Delta Rhythm Kings, Rusted Root, and jamming with Jonny Lang, Jelly Bread has marked over 350 shows under its belts in its short three year history.

Achilles Wheel offers local flavor with their high-energy fusion of World and American music played on numerous stringed instruments and a whole truckload of drums. Featuring the singing/songwriting and guitar playing of Paul Kamm and Jonny Mojo, this up and coming group came together in the wake of other projects including The DeadBeats, Buck Love and The HumperHeads, The Jonny Mojo Trio, D’arcana, Collage of I, Euthanasia, and Dead Ahead. The rhythm section of the band is Gary Campus and Mark McCartney on drums and Shelby Snow on bass.

Food will be available for purchase along with a no host full bar.
