She is studying Business Economics and is graduating with her class in 2014. Jillian Gentile: Jillian is a sophomore from North Reading, MA who is majoring in biology and minoring in dance. This is her second year with PCDC and she is excited to be choreographing for the Spring Dance Concert for the first time. Alexa Kiffel:Alexa is a senior marketing major from Garden City, New York. She has been dancing for fifteen years, and this is her second time choreographing. Alexa transferred to Providence College her sophomore year from the College of Charleston and couldn't be happier with her decision to join the dance company! Callie Kovack: Callie is a senior marketing major from Ridgefield, CT. This is her third year choreographing for the Dance Company’s spring concert. Meaghan Lambert: Meaghan is a junior Economics major from Rochester, New York. She has been a member of the company for three years and this is her second year choreographing a ballet piece. Jenna Macone: Jenna is a Junior Biology/Pre-Med major from Stoneham, MA. She loves being a member of PCDC and this her second time choreographing and third year on the company. Grantis Peranda: Grantis is the first male Dance Minor at Providence College. He is originally from Santa Cruz in Northern California, and he is also a professional color/winter guard performer. Jennifer Robinson: Jennifer Robinson is a senior psychology student from Bristol, Connecticut. She has been in the dance company since freshman year and this is the second dance she has choreographed at Providence College. Olivia Romano: Olivia is a junior Elementary/Special Education major from Reading, Massachusetts. She has been dancing for 18 years and has been choreo- graphing for 2 years. Amanda Smalley: Amanda is a senior accounting major from Lynn, MA. She has been in the dance company for three years and this is her first piece choreographed for the PC Dance Company. Lauren Spagnuolo: Lauren is a senior humanities major with minors in dance and business from Wayland, MA. This is her fourth semester choreographing for the PCDC spring concert. Erica Tuccero: Erica is a senior marketing major from Medfield, Massachusetts. Erica danced competitively for thirteen years at the Patti Eisenhauer Dance Center in Franklin, Massachusetts. She has been in the dance company since her fresh- man year and this is her third time choreographing. Ellie Wallace: Ellie is a sophomore marketing major from Vermont and she has been dancing for 17 years. She is excited to be choreographing for the PCDC Spring Show for the first time!     Groundhog Day: Finding an Invincible Summer in the Deepest Punxsutawney Winter By Paul Fields The present and the succession of presents before a constantly conscious soul is the ideal of the absurd man.1 Well, what if there is no tomorrow? There wasn’t one today.2 Groundhog Day appears on its surface to be somewhat of a typical example of a 1990s romantic comedy: the lead male and the lead female “clash humorously before the collapse of the conflict so that the movie fulfils the ‘guy gets girl’ convention.”3 As a consequence of closer and closer readings, however, thoughts have evolved to the point where it is now considered to be at least far more of a cerebral film than it was on its release, and at most as an allegory for many of the teachings in religion and philosophy. The film tells the story of Phil Connors, a misanthropic weather reporter who becomes stuck in a time loop during a visit to Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania to report on the groundhog festival. Having covered the 2 February event, which takes place at ‘Gobbler’s Knob’ in the centre of Punxsutawney, and the main feature of which involves a groundhog predicting whether or not there will be an early spring, he wakes up at 6am the following morning to discover it is still 2 February. 2 February appears again the following morning, the morning after that, and so on and so forth. Only Phil is aware this is happening, however; each repetition of 2 February is still the ‘first’ instance of that day for everyone else.
