We again welcome the Town manager Joe Sweeney and his management team as well as the club’s committee members and supporters, and hope you all have a safe journey home after the game. In the earlier preview I referred back to the spirited 4-4 draw with then league leaders Tring Athletic which was in stark contrast to the following home game which witnessed one of the team’s worst performances of the season, a performance which saw us trailing 3-0 to London Colney at the interval, followed by an extremely scrappy goalless second PAUL PALMER period which ended in a mass brawl. After beating Potton United 1-0, they travelled We then lost our next game away to to Biggleswade and held one of the Premier Harpenden Town providing the Harps with Division title favourites to a 0-0 draw. This was followed by an away another of the teams languishing near the win at Oxhey Jets when, in what was clearly foot of the table, Leverstock Green, and after another closely contested match, they again a greatly improved performance thoroughly scored the only goal of the game to claim all deserved coming away with all three points three points. after a morale boosting 2-1 win. Since then Leighton have won all three league Since then two more home fi xtures have been matches, all at home, beating London Colney postponed – those against Edgware Town 1-0, Biggleswade United 3-1 and London (twice) and Stotfold – and we have lost our Tigers 1-0. They currently occupy a strong last two away matches, going down 2-1 at mid-table position in 11th on 39 points. And Crawley Green followed on Saturday by a 2-0 with six clean sheets in their last seven games defeat by Potton United. Both those games they are clearly a strong defensive unit and featured three new signings and, although will be coming to Berkeley Fields in confi dent in both contests we showed plenty of spirit, mood. effort and endeavour we were not able to match that with the quality of our play. We badly need to get more points on the board in our next three home games starting We will obviously be hoping to put that right this evening but we will need to improve the against tonight’s visitors Leighton Town but quality of our play in order to do so. Please also recognising that we will of course need a encourage and get behind the team. Your similar hard-working, committed performance support is much appreciated by Paul, Matt if we are to add to our league points tally. and Mark, and all the players. Before the postponed fi xture Town had an impressive recent four-game unbeaten run. Come on you Blues! Pat Hillier
