Activity in development - At our January Kan- sas District LLL board meeting we discussed the possibility of partnering with the Circuit 8 pastors on commemorating the 500th year anniversary of the reformation. It is also the 100th year anniver- sary of the LLL/LHM and the 75th anniversary of the LWML. The Circuit Pastors have scheduled Dr. Paul Maier to speak at Mt. Calvary, Wamego, June 18 at 4:00pm with a German Diner to fol- low. They are also planning to have booths at the County Fairs and participate in the County Fair parades. I was to discuss the partnering with the Circuit Pastors and report back at our April 1st meeting. Possibilities we discussed included: • Building a float and taking it to County Fair parades. A large banner on a PVC pipe frame on a pickup truck. • Helping pay the $1,000 expenses of bringing in Dr. Paul Maier to the Wamego pro- gram. The Circuit pastors only have $600 in their treasury and the estimated cost of $1,000. • Reminding the churches of the $100 available from the Kansas District LLL for outreach. • Growing some of the money budgeted for the Kansas District LCMS debt retirement fund by purchase the groceries for the German Meal planned for the Wamego Dr. Maier event and taking a free will offering for the Kansas District LCMS debt retirement fund. Meal prepared by the ladies of the LWML and expenses provided by the LLL. • I met with the pastors at the Circuit convoca- tion at Clarks Creek last Sunday and discussed our proposals with them. I showed them a 3’ x 7’ banner with the logos of the Reformation, LHM and the LWML Two banners are need- ed for the float. The same design can be used in the county fair booths. I suggest that we have 18’x24” signs made for each participat- ing church in each county and attached to the float banner. These can be used in the fair booth after the parade.

From the Regions Region 1 Zone 3—BEAUTIFUL SAVIOR LU- THERAN CHURCH 13145 S. Blackbob Rd., Olathe, KS 66062 Friday, October 27 @ 6:30 PM and Satur- day, October 28 @ 2:30 PM This special screening is the perfect outreach op- portunity... a chance to invite friends and neighbors to an event in a community setting. This entertaining new film follows the great adventure story of Martin Luther’s life, packed with political intrigue, kidnap- pings, and life-or-death showdowns. At the same time, it's a story about the most important questions of life, including "Who am I?" "What is my purpose" and "How do I get right with God?" This is the first time in more than 60 years that Lu- therans have made a feature-length film about Martin Luther and the Reformation. Filmed in historic loca- tions across Europe, this movie brings Luther’s story to life with exquisite attention to detail. It’s a chance to strengthen your faith by revisiting the birth of Protestant Reformation, and to share that experience with others. IMPORTANT: Admission is FREE, but you must reserve tickets in advance. A free-will offering will be collected for the Kansas District Lutheran Laymen’s League annual district project. The Kansas LLL an- nually provides scholarships for future church work- ers (teachers and seminarians). Popcorn will be pro- vided. Drinks, and other treats will be available for purchase (Concession proceeds will benefit the LWML Mites project). Tickets can be reserved at a special website set up for the screening: http:// bit.ly/2x91mAw If you would rather not reserve tickets online, you can reserve tickets by contacting Fred Gruhn @ 913- 209-2785 The movie screening licensing fees have been gen- erously sponsored by Randy Kanoy – Better Homes & Gardens Real Estate - (913) 269-6525.

Kansas District LLL Reporter October 2017 Page 4 Fair Worship 2017 th For the 15 year the Kansas District Lutheran Laymen’s League hosted a worship service at the Kansas State Fair in Hutchinson. The weather cooperated nicely in the morning for the 10:00 a.m. start. At 9:40 a.m. the retired Rev. LeRoy Pralle was good to go. The choir and director Barbara Guey all from Our Redeemer, Hutchinson, were ready. Ronald Bott led the hymn sing. As more people arrived for worship the readings for the day Romans 13: 1- 10, Ezekiel 33:7-9 and the Gospel reading Matthew 18:1-20. The choir responded with “A Faithful Shepherd is My Lord.” The message by Rev. Pralle was on the Gospel. Pastor recalled talking to people about sheep and how dumb and sometimes really stupid they can be. People are that way also but God overlooks and forgives these things and sent His Son Jesus to suffer and die for all our sins. There were 180-190 in attendance. The offering was close to $1,000 and went to the Orphan Grain Train as there was a matching fund for hurricane victims. Thanks to all that helped with the service and Secretary Sue for putting the worship folder together. 1st Place Immanuel, Bremen Fair Booth 2017 Members of local congregation LLL/LHM groups, the Kansas district LLL/LHM board, and other volunteers were blessed to 2017 Golf Tournament continue presence at our booth at the 2017 Kansas State Fair.
