Even though it came a major thunderstorm and heavy rains right before our W Labor Day Ice Cream Social, we walked through the puddles and 30 residents enjoyed this evening! This event was sponsored by our Social Club on the Cottage Back Porch and we even got to watch the sun peep through the clouds at the end for a beautiful sunset. Thanks so much to Connie Gilbert and Area 6 for coordinating this special event! REMEMBER THESE SPECIAL DATES: Oct. 9th: Doral Golf League begins Oct. 10th: Flu Shots and Medicare Advocate 9-11 CH Oct. 13th: Doral Bowling League begins 12:30 ...continued on page 6 DORAL DISPATCH OCTOBER, 2020 N 5 Please check the Social Club Board in the CH, the Information Boards, and 801 for calendar updates and upcoming events! We hope to plan more activities for October and November! and have booked Flu Shots and a Medicare Advocate for October. Please feel free to make suggestions of new and safe activities to plan! Medicare Advocate, Tara Outram, will be here on Sat., October 10th at the Clubhouse Gazebo to discuss Medicare Open Enrollment Q & A's from 9-11. This is also during our Flu Shots from Walgreens and Tara will be happy to talk to you about Medicare updates and changes. She is furnishing donuts and coffee and will also schedule private appointments with you for a later date. Tara has several clients in Doral and is extremely knowledgeable about Medicare. Of course, Social Distancing and safe guidelines will be encouraged during this event! FLU SHOT CLINIC AT DORAL It has been a trying 2020 with the quarantine and Coronavirus Pandemic but added to that is the reality that the fall will also bring Flu Season. We know it seems early, but now is the time to start preparing and planning. With most Doctor’s offices only doing virtual appointments, we are very fortunate that once again this year, Walgreen’s is offering to sponsor the Flu Shots here on site at Doral. Added to that, Cheryl, our local Walgreen’s Pharmacist has volunteered to provide her services (on her day off) Saturday, October 10th, beginning at 9:00 AM, at the Clubhouse. Due to the Social Distancing Guidelines, this year we will be making appointments for the Flu Shots so we can space people properly. Please contact Janice Evely at 727-251-9096 to schedule a time for your shot. All you need to bring with you is your picture ID and Health Insurance Card, we will do the rest. For those of you that are leery about going outside of Doral, this is the perfect time to receive a very much needed Flu Shot in the safety of your own community and do not forget, FACE MASKS ARE REQUIRED. Please do not put this off, if ever there was a year to get the Flu Shot, this is it and mid-October is a perfect timeframe. Normally we would post a signup sheet at the Clubhouse but for those who do not or will not go out; calling Janice to make your appointment could not be easier. PLUS, golf card transportation can be provided if you need a ride, just tell Janice when you call! If you get voicemail, just leave a message and she will get back with you. IT’S

ADUs are small apartments that share a lot with a single-family home. They can be basement apartments, above and inside garages, or entirely separate buildings. Currently, new ADU permits are only available for properties located a half mile or less from a fixed rail transit stop. The Council discussed the ADU ordinance during a series of briefings in 2017. During the December 5, 2017 work session the Council conducted a straw poll and voted unanimously to send the ADU ordinance back to the Planning Division for modifications and return to the Council with a revised ordinance for consideration, particularly related to recommendations to consider ADUs as a conditional use permit, which would allow ADUs if certain conditions can be met.

  • SAME but DIFFERENT: Chaos and TV Drama Narratives
SAME BUT DIFFERENT: Chaos and TV Drama Narratives BY ALISON MCLACHLAN A thesis submitted to the Victoria University of Wellington in fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy Victoria University of Wellington (2019) ABSTRACT Complexity is a term that is now commonly used when discussing TV serial dramas and the way that, in recent years, creators and producers of this narrative form have embraced innovative and challenging strategies to tell their stories. As a result, it is also often argued that all TV serial dramas are strikingly different from one another; one of the few things that contemporary TV serial dramas have in common is their employment of complex narrative strategies. However, in this thesis, I argue that—while serial dramas are different from one another in many ways—they are also all the same at a fundamental level. In order to examine the fundamental narrative components that all serial dramas employ, I use chaos as a framework. Chaos is a branch of mathematics and science which examines systems that display unpredictable behaviour that is actually determined by deep structures of order and stability. At its most basic level, chaos corresponds with the way in which serial dramas are both complex and simple at the same time; beneath the complexity of serial dramas are fundamental building blocks that are used to generate innovative, challenging and unpredictable narratives. I apply the findings from my critical examination of chaos and TV drama narratives to the creation of my own TV projects, which employ the inherent structures and patterns of TV drama narratives in a way that produces innovative and complex stories.

STATE OF CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF DEVELOPMENTAL SERVICES PUBLIC HEARING ON THE TRANSFORMATION OF SONOMA DEVELOPMENTAL CENTER JULY 18, 2015 1 KAREN FARIA: I'm sure because this is all day long, people will be coming and 2 going throughout the time we have allotted for this public hearing. Hello and welcome. 3 Welcome to all of you that are here in the audience and welcome to the people who are 4 joining us via the phone line. And DDS Department of Developmental Services is very 5 happy that we can accommodate everybody who is interested today. No matter what 6 point in the 124-year history of Sonoma Developmental Center, it has been an integral 7 and interconnected entity in the life of Sonoma Valley of this Valley of the Moon. And 8 over time, it has become an iconic entity for those who know it from personal 9 experience, for those who know it from secondhand experience, for those who know it 10 just from a kind of lazy drive down the shady part of Arnold Drive. Today, as it is 11 inevitable in all organizations, change is coming to SDC. We are here today to assist 12 that change through a democratic process. Democracy demands participation from its 13 people. And that's what we're going to do today. All of us here and on the phone are 14 going to participate in that change by describing what we think the future should be for 15 both the physical plant, for the services and for whatever other concern that all of you, 16 all of us may have for SDC's future.
