Even though it came a major thunderstorm and heavy rains right before our W Labor Day Ice Cream Social, we walked through the puddles and 30 residents enjoyed this evening! This event was sponsored by our Social Club on the Cottage Back Porch and we even got to watch the sun peep through the clouds at the end for a beautiful sunset. Thanks so much to Connie Gilbert and Area 6 for coordinating this special event!

Medicare Advocate, Tara Outram, will be here on Sat., October 10th at the Clubhouse Gazebo to discuss Medicare Open Enrollment Q & A's from 9-11. This is also during our Flu Shots from Walgreens and Tara will be happy to talk to you about Medicare updates and changes. She is furnishing donuts and coffee and will also schedule private appointments with you for a later date. Tara has several clients in Doral and is extremely knowledgeable about Medicare. Of course, Social Distancing and safe guidelines will be encouraged during this event!

FLU SHOT CLINIC AT DORAL It has been a trying 2020 with the quarantine and Coronavirus Pandemic but added to that is the reality that the fall will also bring Flu Season. We know it seems early, but now is the time to start preparing and planning. With most Doctor’s offices only doing virtual appointments, we are very fortunate that once again this year, Walgreen’s is offering to sponsor the Flu Shots here on site at Doral. Added to that, Cheryl, our local Walgreen’s Pharmacist has volunteered to provide her services (on her day off) Saturday, October 10th, beginning at 9:00 AM, at the Clubhouse. Due to the Social Distancing Guidelines, this year we will be making appointments for the Flu Shots so we can space people properly. Please contact Janice Evely at 727-251-9096 to schedule a time for your shot. All you need to bring with you is your picture ID and Health Insurance Card, we will do the rest. For those of you that are leery about going outside of Doral, this is the perfect time to receive a very much needed Flu Shot in the safety of your own community and do not forget, FACE MASKS ARE REQUIRED. Please do not put this off, if ever there was a year to get the Flu Shot, this is it and mid-October is a perfect timeframe. Normally we would post a signup sheet at the Clubhouse but for those who do not or will not go out; calling Janice to make your appointment could not be easier. t has been a completely strange golf season! Let us pray this new season brings us health, freedom, and lots of birdies! Opening day for Doral I Golf League will be Friday, October 9th. Tee off time will be 7: 50. Our membership fees will remain $25 for this season. We are also planning on hosting more parties since we missed them last season. All golf information will be posted in the CH on the Golf Board. The signup sheet will be posted there by October 2nd for play on the 9th. Also mark your calendar early for our 2021 Sebring trip on April 5th-7th. Thank you to all the summer golfers who continued to play through Covid-19. Of course, our monthly Pancake Breakfasts are postponed until further notice. All updates will be posted on our board or in the Monthly Media concerning these events. We are saddened about the passing of two dear Shuffleboard friends, Ella "NANA" Greenwberg and Jack Kohler. Their support and dedication to our league will definitely be missed! Pumpkin Drop Cookies with Raisins and Walnuts

INGREDIENTS: 1 1/2 cups sugar 1/2 cup room temperature butter 1 cup canned pumpkin 2 eggs 2 cups all-purpose flour 2 tsp baking powder 2 tsp cinnamon 3 tsp pumpkin pie spice 1 cup of raisins (plump first for a minute in boiling water, and then drain) 1 cup chopped walnuts

DIRECTIONS: Heat oven to 375°. Beat sugar, butter, eggs, and pumpkin in mixer. Stir in remaining ingredients except raisins and nuts. Stir in raisins and nuts. Drop dough by rounded spoonful about two inches apart onto an ungreased cookie sheet (about 9 cookies to a sheet) Bake 8-10 minutes. Enjoy

DORAL DISPATCH OCTOBER, 2020 N 29 Manager’s Corner, October 2020 H ello Doral Village! • Summer is over, and the heat and humidity should be moving in the downward direction. • We are still taking it day by day regarding our response to the Covid 19. Tune into Wow Channel 801 to get the latest updates on Doral happenings. • I have been receiving complaints about speeding. This is a huge safety issue because of the large amount of golf cart and foot traffic through the park. The speed limit is 15mph. If you are in that much of a hurry, then please plan better, or leave 5 or 10 minutes earlier. Be conscious and abide by the posted speed limit signs. • Sidewalk project is moving forward. They will be working in zones 5,6, & 7 repairing the damaged sections. • Hole in the road near lot 125 was caused by a damaged spot in the storm drainpipe made of corrugated metal. We cannot replace the pipe, so we will have a company come in and line the pipe with an epoxy/fiberglass type product. The board has given the green light to move forward on that project. • Fire hydrant project is awaiting county approval and will resume as soon as we get the proper permits. • Your continued patience is really appreciated. A lot goes into researching, quoting, and scheduling these jobs. I understand that It may seem like the above projects are at a standstill, but we should be seeing progress real soon.
