A pilgrimage is a Journey made to a sacred place for the purpose of asking for heavenly aid, and ultimately to come to know God better. This pilgrimage will take us to Panama City, Panama where we will celebrate our faith and join millions of other young adults in the world’s largest single gathering of Catholics. The World Youth Day theme, which comes from Luke 1:38, “I am the servant of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word.”, is dedicated to our Blessed Mother Mary. Pope Francis wants to challenge the young church to encounter Christ, grow in a relationship with our Lord and His mother Mary, as well as share the Good News to all we encounter. As the Church also prepares for the 2018 Synod with the theme “Young People, the Faith and Vocational Discernment” it is important for young people to recognize the gifts and talents given to them and how important they are to the Church.
