The Murray Baker and Andrew Forsman-conditioned racemare LADY KIPLING gave her sire his 7th individual stakes winner for the season last weekend.

The 5YO mare achieved the feat in the Gr.3 Eagle Technology Stakes (1600m), winning with 1.5 lengths to spare in the hands of Leith Innes.

Bred by Alchemy Family Trust & Windsor Park Stud Ltd, Lady Kipling was a $62,500 Select Sale graduate.

With the 11 wins to her credit including the Gr.2 Cal Isuzu Stakes (1600m) and Gr.2 Auckland Thoroughbred Breeders’ Stakes (1400m), she has so far returned NZ$437,800 in earnings to her owners Geoff Candy and Lawrence Redshaw.

Lady Kipling will seek to add Gr.1 success to this resume before retiring to stud, with likely Gr.1 starts ahead including the Classic (2000m) at Ellerslie on Boxing Day or the (1600m) at Trentham in late January.

Savabeel will be represented by 87 yearlings at Karaka in 2014. Click on the icons below to see…

In posting his 5th win from just 11 starts when impressively taking out the Listed Levin Stakes, Pins gelding Barbaric signalled there will be plenty more in store for connections.

Barbaric is yet another high quality result from mating Pins with a mare carrying Centaine close up in her pedigree. This strategy has been a prolific stakes producer, and at a very high success rate. Barbaric is in fact the 20th stakes winner carrying this pedigree pattern – and this has been produced from a very high strike rate of 12.8% SW/Rnrs. Such stakes winners include: Legs, Econsul, Somepin Anypin, Pins N Needles, Antonio Lombardo, Icepin etc.

There is a high profile current marketing campaign suggesting good horses are hard to find, until you know where they come from. Results such as these above suggest it would be well worth trying to find a horse bred on this “cross” of Pins over a mare carrying Centaine in the first 2 generations of her pedigree. Thankfully, there are a number of such opportunities coming up at Karaka; being the following Lot Numbers:

 162 Colt ex Oh So Glam  169 Colt ex O’Really  179 Colt ex Petit Verdot  199 Colt ex Pyjamas  212 Filly ex Roaring Meg  262 Filly ex Sorrento City  407 Colt ex Celebrate  536 Colt ex Indisputable  984 Filly ex Centa Belt  1071 Colt ex Etoile Centieme

Good luck with the search to find your next good horse!

Massive week for Pins and Savabeel.

Headed by the black-type winner Barbaric, Pins had the nine winners

Savabeel has also had a cracker of a week. With seven stakes winners this season, he is New Zealand’s leading stakes producer.

Encouragingly, the next best is O’Reilly with the 4 stakes winners and Pins isn’t far away either with the 2.
