Mayflower Marina (Start) a,Ocean Quay At around 1877 a rail good shed was erected at friary leading to a goods line established beyond Devonport and Stonehouse to Ocean Quay. A few years after this in 1890 the quay was improved to take passengers. The idea was that Liner passengers would land by tender and be whisked to London and get there well in advance of those that stayed onboard and alighted at Southampton. There was then competition by the London and South Western Railway (LSWR) picking up from Ocean Quay with Brunel’s Great Western Railway (GWR) from Millbay.
