Group departs at 10:30 am—Returns approximately 12:30 pm The Boathouse is housed on the shores of Lake Union. The space offers guests a once-in-a- lifetime opportunity to view the diverse collections and artworks acquired by Chihuly, allowing them to have the most intimate experience possible. Chihuly’s own personal aesthetic is reflected in each of the unique rooms, exhibiting an 86-foot Douglas Fir table, Northwest collection of Native America trade blankets and artifacts, one-of-a-kind lap pool, distinctive aquarium, and gallery highlighting the different series of Chihuly’s work. There is also the possibility of viewing Chihuly’s team of glassblowers in action, producing work in the Hotshop. Group departs at 12:00 noon—Returns approximately 3:00 pm Join the Community Arts Caucus on our 2018 tour at one of Seattle's youth-based community arts organizations. Established in 1986, Coyote Central is a nonprofit that uses the arts to
challenge and empower young adolescents of every racial and socio-economic background through building skills, creative thinking, self-awareness, and social awareness. Using hands-on projects taught by professionals in their creative fields, Coyote Central strives to create safe spaces for young people to take risks without worrying about failure or conformity. In this atmosphere, adolescents develop their own artistic voices, creating work that empowers them to imagine a world in which they want to live and to realize their potential to make that change happen. While at Coyote Central, attendees will engage in a tour and creative workshop that will provide pedagogical tools used by local teaching artists and educators in Seattle to encourage young adolescents to become creative problem-solvers who are confident in their identity and capabilities, and who are engaged in their communities. The Boeing Tour is a one-of-a- kind opportunity to view 747, 777, and 787 Dreamliners being assembled on the Everett production line before they take to the sky. Group departs at 12:00 noon—Returns approximately 2:30 pm Since Seattle hosted the World’s Fair in 1962, the Seattle Center has remained an integral part of the local community. The iconic Space Needle is an important reminder of the dreams of that time. Owned and managed by the Wright family (children of Howard S. Wright II, who constructed it), the Space Needle continues to be an icon for innovation, originality, and imagining the future. When the opportunity to reinvigorate Seattle Center arose, the Wright family took interest. They invited Northwest artist Dale Chihuly to present a comprehensive collection of his work. Having always loved the Space Needle, Chihuly was delighted with the opportunity to design an Exhibition Hall, a Garden installation, and a Glasshouse in his own community. Through its community partners, Chihuly Garden and Glass supports opportunities for education and involvement in the arts. On this tour, participants will explore Chihuly Garden and Glass and participate in a guided tour utilizing curriculum developed by Seattle Public Schools and CGG about the science of glass. Title: Preservice Division Field Trip

Group departs at 4:40 pm on the ferry—Returns approximately 8:00 pm on the ferry Come join the Preservice Division on a Field Trip to the incredible Bainbridge Island Museum of Art for a night of connecting, collaborating, and learning! We will travel by ferry and get to experience this great museum featuring contemporary artists from the Pacific Northwest after hours. We will learn strategies for creating dynamic lessons centered around contemporary art, collaborate with peers from around the nation, and receive a take-away to remember the night. Light refreshments will be served. The ferry from Seattle to Bainbridge Island disembarks from 801 Alaskan Way, Pier 52, Seattle, WA 98104, just one mile from the convention center. Tickets for the ferry can be purchased onsite or online at www.wsdot.wa.gov/ferries/wave2go/. Open only to NAEA Members who are Preservice or First Year Professional.
