BLUE MOUNTAINS PICNIC AREAS BLUE MOUNTAINS CITY COUNCIL PICNIC AREAS A selection of popular council parks and picnic areas located throughout the Blue Mountains Please note - Dogs on leads are permitted in council parks, they must be under the owner’s control at all times and all dog waste must be removed. Glenbrook Park – Glenbrook - Access via Ross St, located behind the Glenbrook Visitor’s Centre. View city entrance sculpture, message sticks and BMCC 50 th anniversary steps. Excellent playground for children including bicycle circuit. 5 x picnic tables, 4 x picnic settings with shelter, 8 x picnic settings with no shelter, 2 x electric BBQ’s, sports oval, tennis courts and accessible toilets. Buttenshaw Park - Springwood - Access from the Great Western Highway Children’s playground, formal gardens, and large shady areas that backs onto Springwood Aquatic and Fitness Centre as well as tennis courts and bicycle loop. 10 x park benches, 7 x picnic settings with no shelter & toilets. Corridor of Oaks & Jackson Park – Faulconbridge – Access via Sir Henry Parade Children’s play area, large covered sheltered shed, toilets, tap water, area of trees planted by past & present prime ministers of Australia. Access to a short bushwalk suitable for young children. Bull’s Camp Reserve – Woodford – Is a highway rest area - Access from the Great Western Highway Large open grassy area enclosed by bushland with a small lake (no access to the lake). Accessible toilets and showers, 3 x picnic settings with shelter. This is an off-leash dog area, which is permitted 24 hours per day, Monday to Friday only. Gloria Park – Hazelbrook – Access via Lester Ave Sportsground, 2 x all purposed courts with rebound walls, 2 x cricket nets and mini field. Public toilets, bubblers, 7 x picnic settings with no shelter, park benches and playground with soft fall and a velocetron. Wilson Park – Lawson – Access via Park Rd – Easy access by car Lovely secluded picnic area off the highway with good facilities. 7 x picnic settings with shelter, 9 x picnic setting with no shelter, sheds can seat 30-40 people. Toilets, bubbler, tap water, heritage map of Australia and water feature. Located at the beginning of some lovely walks into Dante’s Glen, Fairy Falls, and Empire Falls area. Quiet setting backs onto Lawson Public Pool. Wilson Park - Wentworth Falls – access via Falls Rd 2 x picnic settings with shelter and 4x picnic settings without shelter, Accessible picnic setting and bubbler. Good children’s playground, accessible toilets, large cleared areas. Adjacent to tennis courts and at the beginning of the Charles Darwin walk. Wentworth Falls Lake - Wentworth Falls - Access via Sinclair Cres 9 x picnic settings without shelter, 2 x free electric BBQs with shelters, 2 x playgrounds, accessible pathway network including children’s cycleway, lots of open areas & tame ducks & geese. Lovely sandstone sculptures and a small jetty. Gordon Falls Reserve – Leura – Access via Olympian Parade Lovely large area with playground & toilets. New accessible pathway from the car park to 2 x picnic setting with shelter & 3 x with no shelters, 1 x electric BBQ & water tap. Bushwalks around the scenic cliff top areas & to Lyrebird Dell. Leura Cascades - Leura – Access from the off Cliff Drive This large area has toilets, tables, play equipment & accessible parking. Entrance to the Leura Cascades & short walks around the cliff top including lookouts into the Jamison valley. Former Site of 1920’s swimming pool. Lilianfels Park - Katoomba – Access via Echo Point Rd Plenty of room with toilets, tables & benches, 4 heritage shelters, water. Close to bushwalks with stunning views into the Jamison Valley. Access to walks around the top of Katoomba Falls & cascade areas. Toilets & kiosk nearby. Connected to ovals. Sutton Park – Blackheath – Is a highway rest area - Access via the Great Western Highway This large area has picnic tables, gazebo, electric BBQs, play equipment & accessible toilets including disabled toilets. Memorial Park – Blackheath – Access via Prince Edward St Very large area with terrific children’s playground, tables, shelters, lake with fish & ducks etc, public pool for the summer months, toilets, electric BBQs amongst cool climate tree groves. Memorial Park - Mt Victoria - Access via Station St A large park in the historic village of Mt Victoria with picnic settings, some sheltered, accessible toilets, good children’s playground, wood & electric BBQs, Tennis court. Mt York - Mt Victoria –Access at the end of Mt York Rd Shelter shed accessible toilets, tables & historic monuments to the 3 explorers Blaxland, Lawson & Wentworth. Short walks & spectacular lookouts. Old Ford Reserve - Megalong Valley - Access via Megalong Valley Rd Located next to the river this reserve with shelters and wood BBQ’s, pit toilet. Close to Six Foot Track. Millionth Acre – Hampton – Access at the corner of Jenolan Caves Rd & Oberon Rd Shady picnic area with pine trees, 6 picnic tables with benches, 3 fireplaces, covered shelters suitable for portable BBQ’s, & toilet NATIONAL PARK PICNIC AREAS A selection of popular national park picnic areas located throughout the Blue Mountains Please note - Dogs are not permitted in any areas of the national park. Euroka – Glenbrook - Access via Bruce Rd into the Glenbrook Entrance of the national park – entrance fee applies Euroka is a largely cleared area with wood BBQs, pit toilets, tank water, and access to walks. Murphy’s Glen – Woodford - Access by Bedford Rd Pit toilets, tank water wood BBQs, camping. Lovely wooded area within the National Park with access to bushwalks . Wentworth Falls Reserve - Wentworth Falls - Access from the end of Falls Rd Shelter sheds, toilets, and playground, electric coin operated BBQs, access to the many beautiful walks around & to the spectacular Wentworth Falls including the famous National Pass stairway. Valley of the Waters - Wentworth Falls – Access via Fletcher St Toilets, tables, wood BBQs, access to walks around the cliff top & into the valley. Govetts Leap – Blackheath- Access at the end of Govetts Leap Rd This spacious picnic area enjoys spectacular views into the Grose valley. Tables, toilets, shelter, wood BBQs & walks along the cliff top.
