The game of football in our country, is much more than championships and on the field exploits; it pro- vides dreams of opportunity in education and careers for some, and for others, a safe haven and posi- tive alternative to social problems that are sometimes prevalent in our respective communities. I therefore commend the many Club officials and volunteers for their yeoman service to the sport, espe- cially in the areas of our grassroots (Future Tridents) and women’s development programmes. Our aim is to expose young talent to the game of football, beyond the borders of Barbados. This was recently made possible with the assistance of the Embassy of Argentina and its Ambassador, His Excel- lency Gustavo Pandiani. Our National Under-17 team was afforded the opportunity to visit Argentina as guests of the globally recognized Boca Juniors Football Club, and were exposed to their high quality of technical expertise and training. The highlight of the tour however, was a match against the Argentina National Under-17 team. We were also graciously received by the President and members of the Argentina Football Association and were able to negotiate a memorandum of understanding between both parties. The Association continues to provide opportunities for its members in the areas of scholarships, attach- ments and ‘tryouts’ to professional Clubs. We anticipate that these stints will redound to our efforts to qualify for the FIFA World Cup 2026. The issue of semi-pro or professional football locally is high on the agenda. It remains a challenge that we must make all efforts to overcome. This has become even more glaring with the introduction of CONCACAF’s Nations League, where we are drawn against the best professional teams in our confed- eration. We however will be staging a Super Cup tournament from August to October 2019, to expose our play- ers and teams to a higher level of competition in an effort to begin the process of professionalizing the sport. We look forward to your continued support and wish you success in your competitive endeavours. STRATEGIC PLAN 2020+ B E R M U D A F O O T B A L L A S S O C I A T I O N " G A M E F O R L I F E " INTRODUCTION It is often said, “a journey of a thousand miles begins with one step.” As with any journey worth taking, a plan should be the guide, the steps should be measured, and the purpose should be clear. The Bermuda Football Association (BFA) has a long tradition of inspiring, cultivating and creating leaders on and off the playing field. And though this is and always will be a never-ending journey for the BFA, we are committed to making sure the steps taken benefit all those that look to the Association for guidance and leadership. The Executive Council, in collaboration with stakeholders, developed this Strategic Plan to be used as our guide for the next four years. This plan is built aroundthe core values upon which the Association operates; good governance, integrity, transparency, and teamwork to name a few. The Strategic Plan 2020+ takes into consideration and further develops many of the elements outlined in our previous Strategic Plan 2016. The goals and objectives throughout this plan summarize the journey before us and indicates how our steps will be measured. Ultimately, the intended outcome and success of this Strategic Plan is dependant on the participation of all stakeholders. The perseverance among our Executive Council, Full Member Clubs and Associations, the Bermuda Government, sponsors, and the entire football family prove that with great teamwork and effort our goals can be achieved.

Although I have been in remission for 6 yrs my kidneys were affected to the point that they completely failed in 2012 when I suffered a bout of pneumonia. It was then that I was put on dialysis and the transplant list. My life then changed dramatically. I entered hospital to have an operation so I could commence Dialysis 3 times a week. To enable me to lead a somewhat normal life my Dialysis commences at 4.30 am. Starting this early enables me to attend Bermuda College where Ryan Day has most definitely been good news for the theatre community in Bermuda.

  • Mr. Speaker, This Government Has Always Placed People at the Center
Mr. Speaker, this government has always placed people at the center of its developmental focus, and consistently prioritized poverty reduction – be it through our investments in education, our work to secure a decent minimum wage, the jobs that we have added to the economy, our emphasis on agriculture and entrepreneurship, or the tireless efforts of our dedicated workers within the Ministry of Social Development. This people-centred approach on poverty reduction is also apparent in our embrace and active mainstreaming of the 17 internationally- agreed Sustainable Development Goals. The first two of those goals – “No Poverty” and “Zero Hunger” – have been given voice and life through our implementation of the groundbreaking and innovative Zero Hunger Trust Fund. The Zero Hunger Trust Fund has taken a highly-targeted approach to determining the extent of undernourishment in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and devising programmes to address its underlying causes. Funded through a levy on mobile calls and data, the Zero Hunger Trust Fund has delivered thousands of food baskets and food vouchers to hundreds of elderly Vincentians; it has engaged in rapid skills training programmes for at-risk youth; it has adpoted classrooms nationwide and provided meals and books to the students therein; and it is in the process of improving and upgrading the School Feeding Programme nationwide, through improvements to food, nutrition and equipment. The Zero Hunger Trust Fund has attracted the support of the Taiwanese Government, the Dubai Cares NGO, and a number of Vincentian 54 | P a g e individuals and businesses who see he invaluable work of this important entity.
