Chicago Theater, Chicago, IL Schmilco World Tour February 25, 2017 Consequenceofsound.Net Chicago Theater, Chicago, IL Schmilco World Tour February 25, 2017 consequenceofsound.net: Missing one of Wilco’s hometown shows is a sin. If you’re a fan of Jeff Tweedy’s band of extremely talented misfits, then you know that the Chicago rockers tend to go “all out” when it comes to playing at home. That goes tenfold for whenever they decide to put on a residency-of-sorts, namely because they turn the entire thing into a colossal, can’t-miss event. Like back in 2011, when they staged The Incredible Shrinking Tour of Chicago, which saw them play the Civic Opera House, the Riviera, the Vic, the Metro, and finally, an unlikely appearance at Lincoln Hall. It’s quirky shit like this that makes them heroes here. This year, as they continue to support their tenth studio album - last year’s exceptional Schmilco - the band opted to shake things up with another feat for themselves: headline the iconic Chicago Theatre. + + + + + Thanks to mdshrk1 for sharing the show at The Traders’ Den. • Wilco-Songs Minimalistisch
Folkdays …

But how do I keep a positive outlook on something that has consumed a fair chunk of my life, and continues to take up so much of my time? I believe my brain loves the intersection of art, craft, and technology.

  • Split Single Announces New Album, Amplificado, out June 25Th on Inside Outside Records
April 27, 2021 For Immediate Release Split Single Announces New Album, Amplificado, Out June 25th on Inside Outside Records Watch Video for Lead Single, "(Nothing You Can Do To) End This Love" Split Single, the collective project of Chicago-based musician Jason Narducy (Bob Mould Band, Superchunk, Verbow), announces their new album, Amplificado, out June 25th on Inside Outside Records. Recorded at Electrical Audio in Chicago by Narducy (guitar/vocals), REM’s Mike Mills (bass), Jon Wurster (drums), Amplificado is a tight collection of rock songs dealing with the anxiety of living through a chaotic and cruel Republican majority rule and under the limitations of a worldwide pandemic. The new album comes nearly five years aer the release of Split Single’s 2016 album, Metal Frames, “a powerhouse pop record that prides itself on tenacious vocals and resolute rhythm guitar” (Stereogum) recorded with Wurster and Wilco’s John Sitrratt, and last year’s acclaimed, Jeff Award-nominated production of Verböten, a musical inspired by Narducy’s now-seminal childhood punk rock band of the same name. In conjunction with today’s announcement, Split Single presents the album’s lead single, “(Nothing You Can Do To) End This Love,” a message of love and support to the LGBTQ+ community. “The chords and melody for this song sounded like defiance to me,” says Narducy. “I wanted to write a lyric that matched this sonic mood. The first words that came into my head were ‘She loves her and he loves him.’ So it ended up being an unconventional love song. I’m expressing support and joy for diverse couples everywhere, including but not only my friends that appear in the video.” The charming accompanying video was directed by Jamie Fleischel.

  • Philips Lighting Makes Grammy-Winning Alt Rockers Wilco’
Philips Lighting makes Grammy-winning alt rockers Wilco’s artistic stage set shine | 1 Philips VL4000 Spot luminaire “integral” to theatrical design of Wilco’s world tour bringing to life visual concept inspired by Santa Fe temple Dallas, Texas – Philips Lighting (Euronext Amsterdam ticker: LIGHT), a global leader in lighting, today announced that its stage lighting is providing lighting effects central to the artistic stage design of the Chicago-based alternative rock legends Wilco on the band’s world tour. In support of the tenth studio album, Schmilco, the tour is visiting the US, Europe and South America. Lighting designer Jeremy Roth has pronounced the Philips Vari-Lite VL4000 Spot “integral” to the tour’s ambitious theatrical set design – which is stylistically closer to a Broadway or an opera backdrop than a standard rock and roll set. Wilco front man Jeff Tweedy’s visual concept for the tour was inspired by a 3D-forest scene theater set in a Masonic temple in Santa Fe, New Mexico. In true experimental Wilco style, Tweedy wanted to emulate this juxtaposition of the natural world and overt theatricality for the band’s show. He called upon Roth, the band’s lighting designer for the past six years, to help bring his vision to life. “Jeff brought some photos of the temple’s stage set to me and we started discussing how to turn it into a touring production design for Wilco,” explained Roth, who has also worked with the likes of Philips Lighting makes Grammy-winning alt rockers Wilco’s artistic stage set shine | 2 dubstep star Skrillex and country legend Sheryl Crow.

  • Album of the Week: Wilco’S Star Wars
Album Of The Week: Wilco’s Star Wars Once in a while, a talented and established band will blindside the masses with an unexpected release. It causes a buzz for a few days among the band’s loyal fans. That’s pretty much what happened when Chicago Americana rock act Wilco unexpectedly released Star Wars a few days ago. The release has a fuzzy psychedelic edge to it, glossing over Jeff Tweedy’s trademark rhythmic strums while unleashing guitar slinging madman Nels Cline on every track. Definitely a refreshing record to come out in a year filled with musical gems, Star Wars reaches for the skies. The band’s 9th studio album, Star Wars has a lot of grit. Wilco strays even more away from the pop sensibilities of previous albums Sky Blue Sky and Yankee Hotel Foxtrot and gets back to their roots. It has a similar sound to the band’s 1995 debut A.M., but there’s a heavier bass tone and you’ll hear tinges of garage rock and blues. A few tracks are absolutely nasty (in a good way) and soulful; you can’t help but dig what Wilco is doing from front to back. Ladies and gentlemen, Star Wars is proof that one of America’s favorite rock bands just got weirder. The name of Wilco’s new album is pretty interesting, huh? Star Wars? Did George Lucas help finance the record? Are Wilco the new Mos Eisley house band in The Force Awakens? We’re going to find out from the band sooner or later.

  • Jeff Tweedy Bio
Jeff Tweedy bio As the founding member and leader of the ground-breaking American rock band Wilco and co-founder of the alt-country band Uncle Tupelo, Jeff Tweedy is one of contemporary American music’s most accomplished songwriters, musicians and performers. Since starting Wilco in 1994 Tweedy has written original songs for seven Wilco albums, sold millions of records worldwide, won two Grammy Awards, and earned rave reviews from critics and fans alike. Wilco’s latest studio album, 2009’s Grammy-nominated Wilco (The Album) landed on many critics’ lists as one of the year’s best albums and Rolling Stone magazine recently cited Wilco’s 2002 album Yankee Hotel Foxtrot as the 3rd best album of the decade. Regarded as one of the world’s best live bands, Wilco recently became festival curators successfully launching the inaugural Solid Sound Festival in North Adams, MA. While maintaining a full schedule of recording and releasing albums and touring extensively with Wilco, Tweedy has also toured frequently as a solo artist, playing intimate unscripted acoustic sets that draw from his 400-plus song repertoire. A departure from Wilco’s carefully orchestrated, sonically complex performances, the solo shows showcase Tweedy’s prolific output as a songwriter, his proficiency as a guitarist and his wry sense of humor. Tweedy has also recently added producer to his list of accomplishments, working with soul and gospel legend Mavis Staples on her forthcoming album You Are Not Alone (Anti-). The album, which was produced by Tweedy and features several new original songs written by Tweedy specially for Ms.
