Highways and Minor Ports (HP2) Department G.O.(D) No.42 Dated:06-03-2013 Masi 22, Thiruvalluvar Aandu 2044 Read: From the District Revenue Officer, Thanjavur Letter Na.ka.No.92403/2010/I 1 dated 26.04.2012 and 30.07.2012 ********* ORDER: The Notice under sub-section (1) of Section 15 of the Tamil Nadu Highways Act 2001 (Tamil Nadu Act 34 of 2002) submitted by the District Revenue Officer, Thanjavur in his letters read above for the acquisition of wet lands measuring to an extent of 1.87.72 hectares in Manakkarambai Village, Thiruvaiyaru Taluk, in Thanjavur District for the formation of Thanjavur By pass Road is approved and the same will be published in the Tamil Nadu Government Gazette. 2. The Works Manager, Government Central Press, Chennai is requested to Publish the Notification appended to this order in the next issue of Tamil Nadu Government Gazette. 3. He is requested to furnish 10 copies of the Gazette in which the Notification is published to Government in Highways and Minor Ports Department and 10 copies to the District Revenue Officer, Thanjavur. Sf/Sc. //Forwarded by order// Section Officer Highways and Minor Ports (HP2) Department APPENDIX NOTIFICATION The Governor of Tamil Nadu having satisfied that the lands specified in the Schedule below have to be acquired for Highways purpose , to wit for the formation of Thanjavur By pass Road in Manakkarambai Village, Thiruvaiyaru Taluk, Thanjavur District and it having already been decided that the entire amount of compensation to be awarded for the lands is to be paid out of the funds controlled or managed by Divisional Engineer (Highways) Thanjavur after having considered the cause shown by the owner (or) other person having interest in the said land as the case may be do hereby publish the following notice under sub-section (1) of Section 15 of the Tamil Nadu Highways Act, 2001 (Tamil Nadu Act 34 of 2002) NOTICE Under Sub-Section (1) of Section 15 of the Tamil Nadu Highways Act, 2001 (Tamil Nadu Act 34 of 2002) the Governor of Tamil Nadu hereby acquires the wet lands specified in the Schedule below and measuring to an extent of 1.87.72 hectares to the same, a little more or less required for Highways purpose to wit for formation of Thanjavur By pass Road, in Manakkarambai Village, Thiruvaiyaru Taluk, Thanjavur District. The plan of the lands is kept in the office of the Tahsildar, Thiruvaiyaru Taluk in Thanjavur District and may be inspected at any time during office hours. Thanjavur district is bounded on the north east by Nagapattinam district, north be Tiruchirappalli, Perabalur and Cuddalore districts, east by Thiruvarur district, south-east by Palk strait, west by Pudukkottai and north-west by Tiruchirappalli district. Corresponding author mail - [email protected] ABSTRACT Ground water is globally important for human consumption and support of life. Ground water resource is being detoriated by population explosion and other anthropogenic activities. Hence an attempt has been made to study the water quality parameters of ground water of Thanjavur district. The study revealed that the pH was found to be natural in all sample. The chloride was observed to be higher amount in sample 2. The fluoride content was also observed to be 2.91 in sample 2. The WQI was found to be the rating of good. Key words: ground water, suitability WQI, turbidity, fluoride. INTRODUCTION Groundwater is the most import source of water supply throughout the world. The quality of groundwater is reducing every day due to adverse human activities; residential industrial and agricultural empowering activities pollution of groundwater causes poor drinking water quality health hazards and high costs for alternative water supplies etc (UNESCO, 2007). Evaluation of groundwater quality is a necessary task for management of present and future water quality in Thanjavur district. Groundwater quality is mostly affected by natural geo chemical process such as mineral weathering, dissolution reactions and some anthropogenic activities like agriculture. Sewage disposal mining and industrial wastes etc (Goulding, 2000; Jalali, 2005a). Quality drinking water is essential for life.
