Stay the next two nights in central guesthouse, dinner at your own choosing in one of the many restaurants. Plan on your personal introduction either this evening or morning of day 2. Day 2: Clifden Loops (Bike) 17 km + 200 m or 41 km + 292 m This is a day where you have various alternatives. Cycle out along the Sky Road to enjoy some sublime coastal scenery. Or head for a longer ride south of Clifden all along the coast to Ballyconneely and Roundstone, before returning to Clifden over a beautiful bog road. Day 3: Clifden – Tully/Tully Cross cycle: 24 km longer options available Today’s cycle will bring us to Letterfrack, the home for the Connemara National Park to the Renvyle Peninsula with its beautiful beaches. Stay in the small village of Tully or Tully Cross for the next two nights. Day 4: Hike Connemara National Park: 7 - 10 km 4 hours Your walk today will take you into the Connemara National Park. There are a number of walks in the Connemara National Park with the quartzite mount of Diamond Hill being the most distinctive. Along the way keep a look out for peregrine falcons, wild mountain goats and native red deer. Your climb to the glittering quartzite summit is rewarded with commanding views of the spectacular wilderness of Connemara. You cycle past Kylemore Abbey, well worth a visit for the restored Victorian walled garden, beautiful little chapel as well as the rooms in the main house. From here you can decide to head straight for Leenane. Stay the next two nights in Leenane, a small village beautifully situated on Killary Harbour, Ireland’s only fjord. It was the location for the film “The Field” with Richard Harris. Enjoy a seaweed bath to relax, before digging into a bowl of freshly steamed mussels. Day 6: Leenane Loops or Hike 57 km + 585 m You have several options – take the Killary Cruise sailing along Killary Harbour. Or hike on the Western Way all along the hillside high above the fjord. Or alternatively if you prefer to cycle continue to ride north past the Aasleagh Waterfalls and into the Delphi Valley and continue into the Sheefry Hills to Drummin. Day 7: Leenane - Oughterard 38 km + 308 m or 68 km + 647 m A last day to cycle and the route will bring you inland into the beautiful Maam valley, also known as Joyce’s Country. There is a longer option which will be bringing you along the beautiful lakes of Lough Nafooey and Lough Corrib. Stay the night in the small town of Oughterard famed for its fishing on Lough (lake) Corrib, alternatively if preferred, leave the bikes in Oughterard and take the bus to Galway for the city of Galway. Day 8: Departure Breakfast, followed by farewell and departure for your onward journey.
