Get a Head Start with Mercy Classroom Grand Opening Saturday, April 25th 2015 Mercy Family Center 1939 W. Venango Street Philadelphia, PA 19140 Mercy Neighborhood Ministries of Philadelphia, Inc. Neighbor helping neighbor...transforming lives, one person at a time Thank you for believing in our mission The Mission of Mercy Neighborhood Ministries of Philadelphia, Inc. is to create partnerships and services that respond to the needs of those who are poor in the North Philadelphia community, especially women, children and persons with special needs. April 25, 2015 Dear Friends, I would like to welcome you to Mercy Neighborhood Ministries of Philadelphia, Inc. for Get a Head Start with Mercy. This classroom grand opening is an exciting achievement for Mercy and truly an illustration of our growth as an organization. Many of you have contrib- uted to our successes over the years and others have recently joined in supporting our mis- sion. We are very happy to have all of you share in our vision. Mercy Neighborhood Ministries continues to expand our outreach because of our partnerships with so many wonderful organizations, community groups, and businesses throughout the Philadelphia region and beyond. At the start of the 2014-15 school year, we teamed with the School District of Philadelphia to bring Head Start to our students. As a result, we faced an increased need for more space and The Fund for Quality stepped in to help us meet it. Thanks to our friends at The William Penn Foundation, PHMC, and The Reinvestment Fund, the lobby of the Mercy Family Center was converted into our largest classroom while one of our original classrooms was outfitted with a new lavatory to meet our Head Start requirements. Special thank you to construction manager Chris Hotz and architect Pam Zimmerman, who have been with us every step of the way. The physical changes to Mercy are evident and the corresponding enhancements to our programs allow our children to flourish – preparing them to leave a positive impact on our community. Our work at Mercy Neighborhood Ministries would not be possible without each one of you standing here today. Together, we are transforming lives across generations through education and care. Our children, senior citizens, and adult education participants come to Mercy to improve their quality of life. In doing so, they validate our purpose and live our motto of neighbor helping neighbor. Enjoy this day at the Mercy Family Center and know that your presence is a vote of confidence in the future of our ministry.
