Henry B. & Matilda Henry B. & Matilda (Snyder) Dettweiler family Table of Contents . 1 Name. Index. 68 1-Henry B. Dettweiler [Eby 2255], son of Rudolph W. Dettweiler [Eby 2252] and Susannah Bingeman [Eby 1048], was born on Mar 25, 1837 in Waterloo Co., Ontario and died on Dec 8, 1897 in Midland, Fauquier Co., Virginia aged 60. The Family Bible gives the date of marriage for Henry and Matilda as being Dec. 7, 1858, however an obituary for Matilda in the Gospel Herald says they were married on Dec. 8, 1858. Probably, the Family Bible account should be considered correct. Henry married Matilda Snyder on Dec 7, 1858, daughter of Moses Snyder and Esther Wenger ...[Eby 8009] . Henry DETWEILER, 21, Waterloo, same, s/o Rudy & Suminy?, married Mattelby SNYDER, 19, Woolwich, same, d/o Moses & not given, witn: Peter WEBER & Rudy DETWEILER, both of Waterloo, 7 Dec 1858 The above is a transcription of the marriage record from Bishop Joseph Hagey's records. "Suminy" would be Susannah; Mattelby should be Matilda. Matilda was born to unmarried parents, thus her mother's name (Esther Wenger) was not shown above. Cannot ascertain which Moses Snyder was Matilda's father. Gospel Herald, February 25, 1937 - Vol. XXIX, No.48 - page 1022,1023,1024 Dettwiler.-Matilda Snyder was born Nov. 27, 1839 in Waterloo Co., Ont.; died at -the home of her daughter (Mrs. B. F. He was a minister of the Mennonite Church and died in Midland, Va., Dec. 5, 1897. She went through many sorrows and trials in her younger days, being deprived of her mother at the age of ten years. She was the oldest in the family of 5 children and the last one of them to leave this world. Her greatest concern was that her children, grandchildren, and all of her descendants would live such lives to meet her in the glory world. Many were the prayers she sent to the Throne of God for them. For the past thirteen years. she was confined to her home and she always appreciated the services held in the home in her behalf. During her eighty years of fellowship in the Church she acquired a large circle of friends. Her mind was clear and active until about twelve hours before her death. Services were conducted at the home by Erie E. Bontrager and at the Ferris Christian Church by Royal A. Buskirk (Text, II Tim. 4:6-8), assisted by Erie E. Bontrager and .Joseph Sherrick. Burial in Ferris Cemetery.
