Please take every opportunity to greet and meet the many ICONS of our flute world gathered together to celebrate music and the flute. Absorb teaching ideas; discover new performers, flute-related products, and repertoire; renew and make new friendships while exchanging ideas with the vast family of flutists that is our National Flute Association. Begin your convention experience by attending either the meeting for first-time convention goers or the meeting for convention volunteers. Get involved right away while meeting new members. We need you! Begin Thursday morning with our official Annual Meeting so you may greet your officers and board members, meet candidates for office, and hear the latest news of our association. You will then be fully prepared to enjoy the full experience of the convention, including the amazing exhibits, exhibitor showcases, lectures, competitions, masterclasses, and performances of world-class musicians, from one to hundreds! Socialize with fellow NFA members at the Myrna Brown Society Dinner and Amateur Mixer, a marvelous opportunity to meet familiar faces, on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. (Meet in the registration area.) Bring your suggestions and ideas to the Town Meeting on Saturday at 2 p.m. We value your input and welcome your involvement. Take part in the celebration Saturday night as we join together to honor the lifetime achievements of this year’s honorees, extraordinary artists Jeanne Baxtressor and Stephen Preston. The reception is open to all. Please make your reservations for the Award Banquet by noon on Thursday. Proceeds from this event go to our endowment fund. Take this opportunity to meet and thank our staff, including our amazing executive director, Phyllis Pemberton, who celebrated her 15th year with the NFA this past March 4. Please join us in thanking the numerous people that have brought us together. Special gratitude and congratulations to our brilliant program chair, Thomas Robertello, and assistant program chair, Emily McKay, who have assembled an excellent program with a wide array of activities. Conventions are made possible with the expertise of convention coordinator Madeline Neumann. Please thank her for her long-time experience and friendly face over the past 13 years! Wendy Kumer, local arrangements chair, and program book editors Anne Welsbacher and Don Rice have done outstanding work to bring the convention and convention book together. Thank you for attending. Please enjoy all the proceedings and celebrate our many ICONS in this marvelous city of Pittsburgh. I look forward to personally greeting you.
