LG Ultimate 2 Android Prepaid Phone with Triple Minutes (Tracfone) LG Ultimate 2 L41C first thoughts, how to tips. I received my phone 10/23/2014,seven months now. This is a very nice tracfone. Measures 5.01 x 2.63 x 0.38 4.5 ounces. It is a little thinner and a little longer than the LG39C, I really like the size and how it fits in my hands with the case on it, it is very thin, very slippery tho without a case. Your notice much better, smoother Youtube playback. The phone operates very smoothly and quite fast for a tracfone, faster than the LG39C when swiping through your screens and bringing up and using your apps,GPS. The only thing I do not see much improvement in from the LG39C is the rear speaker, its about the same in sound quality. But it actually has a mono - stereo - sound balance bar option in settings. Tap Menu > Settings > Accessibility > Audio Type. It is not a bad speaker tho for this price point, just do not expect a lot of bass. About a seven out of a ten rating I would think. With its larger 1 GB of ram, A faster 1.2 GHz dual-Core processor, Android 4.4 kit kat operating system, My phone shows Android 4.4.2 Note specs state (4GB Internal Memory), It has (8GB Internal Memory > up to 4.73GB usable) Go into apps and it shows almost 5GB Internal Memory this gives you the ability to add more apps than any other older tracfone that I have had = ZTE Valet, LG-39C. I have added 16 apps and the usable internal memory shows 4gb free. The LG39C showed 1.7GB available out of the box. All this works well with the Gorilla Glass 4.5 inch Screen. The screen is Gorilla glass confirmed on the LG website. This is a very nice improvement over the well liked LG39C that I used for 13 months and now the grandkids are using. *Are you a heavy (Data user)* --> You can buy or purchase just (Data cards) from many stores in your neighborhood. *Are you a heavy (Text user)* --> 1000 texts FOR TEXT MESSAGES = $10.00 https://www.tracfone.com/direct/Purchase?payGo=true&app=TRACFONE&lang=en I noticed if you go into task manager, then settings, there is a box their that you check that auto clears ram to keep it in optimum condition. I have it set now to do that every 12 hours. You can choose 1 every hour, 12 hour, 24 hour, every 3 days From your home page. Touch and hold the menu button until your recent apps pop up. Then you will see two choices at the bottom of the screen. Tap Task Manager. Tap(just a tap) on the Menu button. Then tap settings when it pops up and that will bring you to those options. This is a nice little app in the google play store ( CM Speed Booster by Cheetah Mobile ) it has a little rocket not the one with the broom. No micro SD Card is included. I installed a SanDisk Ultra 16GB Micro SDHC Class 10, again the (class 10) is probably a little overkill here but the SanDisk Ultra is a good reliable card. It states it will hold up to (32gb Card). I like the home button (a positive push button), It works every time, the first time ) like the older phones, you can feel the outline of it in the dark without having to guess at where it is. You can use the home button to bring it out of the lock screen, answer a call. The home button lights up or flashes for special things, but not so you're able to see the three buttons in the dark tho unless it flashing for a notification. The other two capacitive touch buttons (Menu and Back buttons) Do Not Light Up. The multi colored notification, charging light around the Home Button lights up red while charging and turns green when fully charged. For incoming, missed calls, missed messages, it will flash green. For the calendar alerts it flashes blue. You can set the (home button to a different color) for each contact name or phone number that you want, see my comments for the steps to do that. One other neat little option is when your texting is that if you touch or press the (123 ) button you will see a row of little icon options. > (Smiley face), with many of them. (A star) that has many animal faces faces. (A coffee cup), with many holiday pictures santa face, punkin, football, food pictures. (A car) that has houses, cars, tractors, flags, you get the idea there are just to many to list them all, there are many choices there. I have the phone set for her to read or (speak) my text messages when I get them and who it is thats calling or their number without me touching the phone, this is nice if you're driving or busy at the time. I am sure this does not help the battery life tho. Go to settings, tap sound, tap voice notifications and check the boxes and turn on. *You can change the white background color behind the collection of your apps , I myself did not like the white background.=> Tap apps, Tap menu, Tap (Apps wallpaper). I chose Darkness. Battery 2100 mAh Battery, The average battery time for myself and I am a lite user lasted 4 days using 20 to 25 percent battery power a day. I have seen a few days that I have used 15% or less and days that it used 30% battery. When charging up from 30 percent it had taken one hour and a half. One hour and forty minutes from 28 percent the time before. A one hour charge from 28 percent brought it up to 73 percent. At this time I am getting about one more day out of the battery than my on LG39C. If you are one that leaves your phone all the time try power off and restart after charging it,this seems to myself to help the battery time, thats just me tho. *Be sure to keep (GPS and location services)(WiFi)(Sync)(Bluetooth) off when you can to save your battery time. G.Graham noted tho that when WiFi consumed a lot of your battery was when you are away from your router as it will constantly be searching for wifi signals. You have a Battery Monitoring Tool Go to Settings > Tap on battery and then tap on the first box their and scroll down and see what is using the most of your battery. Example = If it is your screen try setting the brightness lower. Set up the battery saver there also. The sar rating for this phone (specific absorption rate) (radiation level) as rated by the FCC is1.14 W/kg (head) and 1.20 W/kg (body). Camera Rear 5MP Camera with Autofocus and a ( LED flash ). Front facing 1.3MP camera for selfies. *Note QR & Barcode Reader users will like the autofocus. The autofocus, 5mg and 1.3mg front facing camera will make a lot of users happy. The camera is really updated and has a great (on screen focusing aid) and a nice flash, you can use the volume button or say a word like, Cheese, Whiskey, or tap the shutter on the screen to take a picture. TIP! You can quickly access the Camera app without unlocking your phone first. While the screen is off (locked), press and hold the Volume Down Key or Volume Up Key on the left side of the phone. Also set the volume buttons to use for a zoom for the camera. The camera takes good quality pictures very sharp and well focused and is much better than any other tracfone that I have used and that was one thing that I was really hoping for. Its small sensor hinders its low light ability but it does much better than the 39C tho in those conditions and I really like it alot... **NOTE** you will have to (Have Your Data On) (To Send or Receive a Picture) or Any Attachment in a Text Message, Pictures will not download over the WiFi. I like the camera flash on the phone and how it works with my (Alert.Me App) it is a (Text Alert Feature), It really gets my attention. It does have a flashlight app and I think I had to go into the widgets to find that... *A Nice Call Blocking App* > (Call Detector) by PrivacyStar for tracfones. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.privacystar.android.tracfone WiFi and Call strength bars seems to be the same as the LG39C,no problems with WiFi like the ZTE Valet here. I can go any where in the house or out in the attached garage. I thought maybe because of the phone being longer or larger it would have more antenna and their for have another call strength bar, but still just shows (two call strength bars) here at the house like the 39C. Call quality is very good while taking a call. More on this in comments. *Look in my comments to see if this phone will work for you, YOU MUST HAVE the Verizon network in your area. *Virtual Qwerty Keyboard, buttons are a little larger in landscape mode. *The LG L41C is a CDMA type so it does not use SIM CARDS.
