It further mentions that by chanting this hymn regularly, one is blessed with a long life and sound health, and untimely death is averted. The sacred vitibhuti (ash) used for the Lalita Sahasranama archana is a panacea for all diseases. The water into which the Lalita Sahasranamam is 3 chanted when sprinkled on the head of a suffering person removes the effects of evil spirits and malefic planets. If the Sahasranamam is chanted visualising Lalita Devi positioned in an ocean of nectar, the effects of all poisons are removed.By partaking of the ghee into which the Sahasranamam has been incanted women are cured of sterility. The effect of black magic is removed by chanting the Sahasranamam daily. Brahmanda Purana states that the Divine Mother protects the one who chants the Sahasranamam daily from accidents and attacks by the enemies. Chanting the Sahasranamam daily bestows prosperity, felicity of expression and public acclaim. There are many Sahasranamas in praise of the Divine Mother. Among them, ten are of greater importance. They are the Ganga stava, Bhavani stava, Gayatri stava, Kali stava, Lakshmi stava, Sarasvati stava, Rajarajeshwari stava, Bala stava, Syamala stava and Lalita stava. Of these the Lalita stava or Lalita Sahasranamam is the most excellent. Lalita Sahasranamam can be chanted without any other associated worships.The Brahmanda Purana states that chanting the Sahasranama alone bestows the benefits of all other worships. The best time for chanting this hymn is the time after the morning bath. 4 The daily chanting yields the best results, but those who are unable to do so are especially enjoined to chant this hymn on the Sankranthi days (the first dates of Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn), on the Navami (the 9th day moon), Chaturdasi (the fourteenth day moon), Pournami (the full moon day), Fridays, birthdays of family members, and the days of solar and lunar eclipses. The chanting of the Lalita Sahasranamam, which bestows devotion and dispassion, can be practised by all, by men and women, young and old alike, at all times. It is advisable to have a fixed time for the daily Sahasranama archana and the chanting of the stotra. If it is not possible to perform the archana at the stipulated time, it should be performed as soon as possible at a convenient time and thus the daily practice should not be broken. While pronouncing the mantras, clarity should be strived for; but the archana need not be given up in case of inability in this regard. God knows our heart. One need not give up archana merely because it is difficult to procure Aksata (rice mixed with turmeric powder), flowers and other offerings. All these are only mediums used to acquire concentration and to develop devotion. They are the token of our self-surrender to God.     Benefits of Reciting the Arya Sanghata Sutra Probably I don’t need to tell you what the text says about how much merit you collect each time you hear this sutra. Each time you hear it, how much merit do you collect? First of all, one buddha has completed the merit of wisdom and the merit of virtue – there is nothing more to collect…and then how many buddhas? The number of buddhas equaling the number of sands of grain in the Ganga River times twelve. And these sand grains are not ordinary grains of sand. It is explained in the teachings, in the great enlightened Pabongkha Rinpoche’s notes, that these grains are made of extremely subtle atoms. There are seven kinds of subtle atoms, water atoms, earth atoms, and so forth. These sand grains are much, much finer than what we usually think. In addition to that, when it comes to talking about the benefits of bodhichitta, or the benefits of the Arya Sanghata Sutra, the Ganga does not refer to the Indian River Ganges. It refers to the Pacific Ocean. Now, that many numbers of buddhas times twelve. The merit of just one set of buddhas equaling the number of sand grains in the River Ganga, even just one set – how much merit that is…is beyond words, unimaginable. Even just the merit that one buddha has collected is beyond words. So, now, beyond that, the merit that you collect every time you hear the Arya Sanghata Sutra is equal to twelve times the merit of the number of buddhas as there are sand grains in the River Ganga.

Logan To hear the Lotus Sutra tell it, as far as vehicles are concerned the Lotus Sutra itself is the most effective vehicle for ferrying living beings to liberation. It proclaims—à la Muhammad Ali—“I am the Greatest!” In the Devadatta chapter (chapter12), the bodhisattva Accumulated Wisdom—prefacing a question to Man juSri Bodhisattva— says the following: “This sutra is profound, subtle, and sublime. It is the pearl of all of the sutras, and it is something rare in the world.” 1 And in chapter 23, Long Ago Deeds of Sovereign Medicine Bodhisattva, the Buddha says to the bodhisattva Flower of the Greatest of Constellations: “Just as among streams, rivers, great rivers, and various other bodies of water, for example, the ocean holds pride of place, this Dharma Flower sutra is also just like that: within all of the sutras expounded by the tathAgatas, it is the greatest and most profound. And just as Sumeru Mountain holds pride of place among the Earthen Mountains, the Black Mountains, the Lesser Iron Encircling Mountains, the Greater Iron Encircling Mountains, the Ten Precious Mountains, and the multitudes of other mountains, this Dharma Flower sutra is also just like that: within all of the various sutras, it is the most supreme. And just as the moon—a child of the heavens—holds pride of place among the multitudes of celestial bodies, this Dharma Flower sutra is also just like that: within tens of millions of myriads of kinds and varieties of sutra teachings, it is that which shines the brightest… Bodhisattvas are foremost among all SrAvakas and pratyekabuddha s, and this sutra is also just like that: it is foremost among the teachings of all of the various sutras.

Women and the Divine Word:- Let me start my talk with a recitation from the Vedas2, the ‘Divinely Exhaled’ texts of Hindu Dharma – Profound thought was the pillow of her couch, Vision was the unguent for her eyes. Her wealth was the earth and Heaven, When Surya (the sun-like resplendent bride) went to meet her husband.3 Her mind was the bridal chariot, And sky was the canopy of that chariot. Orbs of light were the two steers that pulled the chariot, When Surya proceeded to her husband’s home!4 The close connection of women with divine revelation in Hinduism may be judged from the fact that of the 407 Sages associated with the revelation of Rigveda, twenty-one5 are women. Many of these mantras are quite significant for instance the hymn on the glorification of the Divine Speech.6 The very invocatory mantra7 of the Atharvaveda8 addresses divinity as a ‘Devi’ – the Goddess, who while present in waters, fulfills all our desires and hopes. In the Atharvaveda, the entire 14th book dealing with marriage, domestic issues etc., is attributed to a woman. Seiring bertambahnya waktu, peran perempuan di India berubah dari penghasil keturunan menjadi pencari nafkah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menerangkan status perempuan India dari masa lalu ke masa sekarang. Penelitian ini juga bertujuan untuk menjelaskan posisi perempuan berdasarkan pemberdayaan secara sosial- ekonomi-politik. Sejarah India menunjukkan bukti standar ganda status perempuan. Dalam sastra dan agama di India, perempuan ditempatkan pada posisi yang tinggi. Namun, dalam skenario domestik, politik, dan ekonomi, perempuan mengemban status rendah dan menjadi subjek diskriminasi dan eksploitasi. Peran perempuan India telah berubah dari kukungan nilai-nilai tradisional menuju era baru kebebasan dan sering kali disebut “fenomenal”. Nasib perempuan India dari masa lalu hingga masa sekarang penting untuk diikuti. Perempuan India yang pernah dianggap sebagai ahli dalam seni rumah tangga kini menjadi “kekuatan yang membentuk negara” yang luasnya sebanding dengan sebuah benua.     History of Rangoli Rangoli at Diwali Rangoli, which means rows of colours, is drawn on the entrance and filled with colours during Diwali. Rangoli designs are created using the thumb and forefinger. It is drawn to welcome guests and different Gods and Goddesses and to bring joy into homes. Origin of Rangoli Lopamudra was the wife of a sage called, Augustya Rishi. She also wrote 2 portions of the Rigveda (famous holy books). She and her husband lived in a remote place, away from others. People would describe them as hermits. Lopamudra wanted help her husband in worshiping the gods, so she started to make rangoli, a decoration for the Yagyakunda. Yagyakunda is what we call a place of worship. Lopamudra asked the Panchatatva (the five elements – sky, wind, water, earth, fire) to give her colours to please her husband. She was able to collect blue from sky, green from water, black from soil, red from fire and white from wind. She then added these colours to the rangoli (made from ground rice, lentils, flowers and spices) which is why they look so beautiful today. Rangoli Colours Blue represents the sky and green represents the sea. Both colours bring calm and helps with using our imagination. These are good colours for story-telling. Black brings strength and stability. Red, the colour of fire or danger, represents the code of conduct the artist must follow. White represents peace and positivity and embodies all colours. All of these colours in Rangoli bring in elements that we wish for in the new year, when celebrating Diwali.
