Japanese

Etymology Kanji in this term 不 空 成 就 如 来 From Middle Chinese 不空成就如來 ( pjuw khuwng dzyeng dzjuwH njo loj ). Compare modern Mandarin 不空成就佛 ( bùk ōng chéngjiù Grade: 4 Grade: 1 Grade: 4 Grade: 6 Grade: S Grade: 2 fō), exchanging 如來 ( rúlái ) for roughly synonymous 佛 ( fō).

The Middle Chinese term itself is a compound of 不空成就 + 如 來:

不空成就 is a translation of अमोघस (amoghasiddhi ), the name of this entity, and a compound of अमोघ ( amogha , “not in vain”) + स ( , “perfection; accomplishment, attainment; success”). 如來 is an abbreviation of either 如去如來 or 如來如去 (“coming from suchness, going back into suchness”), translations of Sanskrit तथागत ( tath āgata , “coming from suchness, going back into suchness; thus coming, thus going”, exact meaning uncertain, see Tath āgata on Wikipedia.)[1][2] . 不空成就如来 : a Tibetan statue of Amoghasiddhi.
