    Jack Armstrong Receives NAAA’s 2016 Bernie Hart Award LAS VEGAS, Nev. (November 16, 2016) — Jack Armstrong, a 27- year veteran of the auction industry, has received the National Auto Auction Association Bernie Hart Memorial Auctioneer Award for 2016. The association represents more than 300 auto auction members in North America. Armstrong was presented with the award during the 68th NAAA/NRC Convention being held at the Red Rock Casino Resort and Spa in Las Vegas. Named in honor of Bernie Hart, who served as NAAA’s executive director for more than 30 years before retiring in 1988, the annual award recognizes the industry’s most visible auctioneers. What started out as a part-time job as a driver at Rea Brothers Mid- South Auto Auction in Jackson, Miss., has grown into a 27-year career for Armstrong. A 1990 graduate of the Mendenhall School of Auctioneering, Armstrong attended Hinds Community College in Raymond, Miss., and on auction day would be in the lanes at Mid-South. Today, Armstrong works auctions in Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana, including independent and corporately owned sales. He works each day of the week and puts about 1,000 miles a week on his 2014 Ford Expedition, which he says he purchased used. “I learned to love the auction business — was fascinated by the process,” Armstrong said. “As time went on, I worked as a ringman and would help out with whatever was necessary. That’s when I left school and attended Mendenhall.” He graduated from Mendenhall with awards such as “Most Likely to Succeed” and “Best All around Student.” His first job following graduation was at Rea Brothers, and then he expanded to auctions in Tupelo, Mississippi, and later, Memphis, Tennessee.” Armstrong has been actively involved in community activities and charities, and served as sheriff’s deputy with two county departments — Leake County Sheriff’s Department (1990-1993) and Jones County Sheriff’s Department (2009-present).

    MISSISSIPPI LEGISLATURE REGULAR SESSION 2003 By: Senator(s) Michel To: Rules SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 92 1 A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING KENT HULL, ALL-PRO 2 FOOTBALL STAR FROM MISSISSIPPI STATE WHO PLAYED IN FOUR 3 CONSECUTIVE SUPER BOWLS AS A CENTER WITH THE BUFFALO BILLS, UPON 4 HIS INDUCTION INTO THE MISSISSIPPI SPORTS HALL OF FAME CLASS OF 5 2003. 6 WHEREAS, the Jackson Touchdown Club and Mississippi Sports 7 Hall of Fame has unveiled the Class of 2003 of the Mississippi 8 Sports Hall of Fame, which features Kent Hull, All-Pro Football 9 star from Mississippi State, who played in four consecutive Super 10 Bowls with the Buffalo Bills and is considered one of the finest 11 Centers in pro football; and 12 WHEREAS, a native of Pontotoc, Mississippi, who was raised in 13 Greenwood, Mississippi, Kent was an All-Big Eight football and 14 basketball player at Greenwood High, was an All-SEC four-year 15 starter at Center for Mississippi State from 1979-1982, played for 16 Emory Bellard in the school's first back-to-back bowl appearances 17 in 1980 and 1981, and was a member of the winning Gray squad in 18 the 1982 Blue-Gray game; and 19 WHEREAS, Kent was a 7th round draft choice of USFL New Jersey 20 Generals and blocked for QB Doug Flutie and RB Hershel Walker 21 during the USFL's existence, then became a Center for the Buffalo 22 Bills from 1986-1996; and 23 WHEREAS, he played in three Pro Bowls and was named All-Pro 24 by various media sources, he blocked for QB Jim Kelly and RB 25 Thurman Thomas at Buffalo and played in 189 games, 5th on the 26 Buffalo Bills all-time list, he served as Team Captain for seven 27 straight seasons; and S.
