Plumtree Run Watershed
Plumtree Run at Tollgate Road Stream Restoration
The stream restoration project adjacent to 1512 S. Tollgate Road is now under construction (across from the BelAir Veterinary Hospital 1501 S. Tollgate Road). You can park at Tollgate Road and Ruth Avenue and walk to the site. Please be careful walking on Tollgate Road. You are advised to wear a safety vest or reflective clothing if possible. PLEASE DO NOT ENTER THE CONSTRUCTION SITE.
Introduction
The Plumtree Run Watershed is located in Harford County in the northeast-central section of Maryland, known as "Bel Air". The total watershed area at its confluence with the Atkisson Reservoir is 1,651 acres.
The study area includes Plumtree Run and its tributaries from their headwaters upstream of Route 1 and Route 24 to the confluence with Atkisson Reservoir. A total of 8.84 miles (46,674 linear feet) of Plumtree Run and its tributaries were reconnoitered and mapped.
Contact Information The Plumtree Run watershed shows evidence of increased sedimentation due to construction activities, stream channel erosion in response to increased storm water runoff, and an overall increase Deborah Lewis in pollutant loadings due to the conversion from forest and cultivated land to residential and [email protected] commercial land uses. Harford County Department of Public Works, Water Resources Engineering has prepared Watershed Harford County's Website Management Plans focused on identifying water quality problems and developed strategies for correcting these problems. These programs include installation of new water quality best management http://www.harfordcountymd.gov/dpw/ practices (BMPs), rehabilitation of old storm drain systems, installation and retrofitting storm water engineering/waterresources management ponds, and implementation of stream restoration projects. It is the intention of the Harford County Department of Public Works, Water Resources Engineering to control runoff from the developed areas, correct stream channel instability problems, reduce sediment loading, and improve the overall water quality of Plumtree Run and the Atkisson Reservoir. Stormwater BMP Site Selection Retrofit Existing SWM Sites
Two Approaches: 39 SWM facilities currently exist within the watershed.

Introduction
The Plumtree Run Watershed is located in Harford County in the northeast-central section of Maryland, known as "Bel Air". The total watershed area at its confluence with the Atkisson Reservoir is 1,651 acres.
The study area includes Plumtree Run and its tributaries from their headwaters upstream of Route 1 and Route 24 to the confluence with Atkisson Reservoir. A total of 8.84 miles (46,674 linear feet) of Plumtree Run and its tributaries were reconnoitered and mapped.
Contact Information The Plumtree Run watershed shows evidence of increased sedimentation due to construction activities, stream channel erosion in response to increased storm water runoff, and an overall increase Deborah Lewis in pollutant loadings due to the conversion from forest and cultivated land to residential and [email protected] commercial land uses. Over the last four decades, the water quality has degraded, flood storage (410) 638.3545 x1059 capacities have been reduced, and public infrastructure as well as public and private land along the Christine Buckley, P.E. County's stream corridor have damaged significantly. The contribution of unmanaged stormwater [email protected] runoff and unstable headwater streams make to sedimentation, and water quality declines in the (410) 638.3545 x1176 Atkisson Reservoir (large open water habitat located immediately downstream of the Plumtree Run Watershed).
Harford County Department of Public Works, Water Resources Engineering has prepared Watershed Harford County's Website Management Plans focused on identifying water quality problems and developed strategies for correcting these problems. These programs include installation of new water quality best management http://www.harfordcountymd.gov/dpw/ practices (BMPs), rehabilitation of old storm drain systems, installation and retrofitting storm water engineering/waterresources management ponds, and implementation of stream restoration projects. It is the intention of the Harford County Department of Public Works, Water Resources Engineering to control runoff from the developed areas, correct stream channel instability problems, reduce sediment loading, and improve the overall water quality of Plumtree Run and the Atkisson Reservoir.
