The receiving player cannot hit or be hit after a fair catch, and the ball cannot be advanced after the catch. • The kicking team may down the football after the ball has hit the ground. • No one on either team may block below the waist. • No player on the receiving team may touch the punter or kicker unless the receiving team has blocked the kick or the kicker runs with the ball. • A field goal is a scrimmage kick and uses the same rules as the punt. • On a kickoff, after the ball has traveled 10 yards, it is a free ball and either team can gain possession of it.

    THE “LOCO PUNT FORMATION” ARTICLE BY: JARED VAN ACKER, HEAD FOOTBALL COACH, GALAX, VA I want to first off give thanks to American Football Monthly and the extensive knowledge on the game of football that is published within its pages every month. I look forward to the day when the new issue reaches my doorsteps to see the new and innovative minds/trends in the greatest game in the world. I have been the Head Football coach at Galax High School for the last two years and like all coaches I stress the importance of all three phases of the game of football: offense, defense, and special teams. I believe that one of the most important phases is special teams and unfortunately many coaches don’t emphasize its importance until it bites them in the backside. A couple of years ago while I was a young assistant coach, I put some of my own thoughts into a punt scheme that I used while I played at Quincy University, now an NAIA school in Quincy, IL. Like all coaches across America we are “thieves” when it comes to our ideas and schemes and I devised a fun and effective punt formation that I call the “Loco Punt”. This punt formation has been a very effective tool in the punt game for our football team and blends a solid spread punt scheme with an arsenal of fakes to keep the pressure off the punter and to allow for a successful punt and coverage. With this scheme we have been able to change the landscape of many football games! In the two years that we have used the “Loco Punt” we have had only one punt blocked and numerous first-down conversions from the array of fakes that we use.

Blender Stats 422 Final Project Introduction • This project aims to estimate the average height and weight of an NFL player. • The population being sampled is the NFL. More specifically the population is all NFL players on an active roster for an NFL team. • We will be measuring the average height and weight of an NFL player by position. • This project will gives kids striving to reach the NFL a goal for height and weight. • Research Question: What is the average height and weight of an NFL player? What is the average height and weight of an NFL player by position? Sampling Design • Elements- NFL players on a team’s active roster • Population- All NFL players on a team’s active roster • Sampling Units- NFL players on a team’s active roster • Frame- NFL active roster list Sampling Design • Considered: • Systematic Sampling, Cluster Sampling, and Stratified Sampling • Chosen: • Stratified Sampling • I believe that this sampling scheme is the best option. This will allow me to separate players into different stratum made specific for each position. I made 13 different strata: QB, RB, WR, TE, FB, OL, DB, LB, DE, DT, K, P, LS.
