The group were more than 60 applicants, the new ‘pages’ will be serving as goats during the winter quarter. The name was listed at the bottom of the article. Librarian Calls for More Books in U Campaign : From cheap novels to best sellers，the library had received over 500 volumes in the “victory book campaign”. The contribution is becoming greater for the library including many classic books, but it is still far from the reaching goal. Spanish students continue chorus: The Spanish club chorus will be continued thought-out the winter and spring quarter because of many students are interested in songs of Latin American countries. The enrollment in Spanish classes increased 40%the instrumental of the chorus will be helping students about the culture of Mexico and south America. Union Lounges receive New ‘Official’ Titles: The union building men and women’s lounges exist no more. The original reason why to have women and men lounges was just to keep them distinguished, but it is going to be changed. Such as the reliable orchard man was needing a stable job, a lady in south bend was visited for a few days by a New York lady. And it talked about that someone got stolen things by a sneak thief in Boston. U Dance Fad Needs No Special Curbing: Students had created a new typed of dance that the teachers do not like at University of Utah. And it brought up some judgment and issues, the student believed that the standards committee can dispense their narrow concepts and accept the new dance, the new cultures. Teaching Jobs Open to Crads: Three universities accounted the opportunities for students majoring political science and business to continue study and receive fellowships. Denver University is offering graduate fellowships for students who are interested in government management. Syracuse University and Harvard University are also offering fellowships for students. Civil Service wants Qualified Men for Defense Work: Students were asking in commission vacancies because of the urgent request from the United State Civil service. Dr. Arthur L said that he could place 25 to 30 people immediately. Positions open are in the children’s bureau of the department of Labor, Bureau of public assistance, social security board, Bureau of old age and survivors insurance, Veteran’s administration and bureau of prisons. Alums Offer Prize in Essay Contest: With the Alumni association offering 2 prizes instead of 1, final arrangements for founder’s day orations were announced.

In 1970, the Charter Class of 18 honorees was inducted into the Hall of Fame. Since then, a select number of administrators, coaches, players and prominent contributors to athletics in Utah have been inducted annually into the Hall of Fame. A beautifully-crafted plaque of recognition honoring each inductee is displayed in special display cases in the main concourse of the Energy Solutions Arena. In 1997, the organization officially changed its name to the current USHOFF. In 1972, the OTAA began honoring others who have made substantial contributions to the Utah sports community. The foundation started hosting annual and biannual recognition banquets for the following: 1. Distinguished Utah High School Head Coaches; 2. Utah “Coaches of Merit” (Head coaches who had spent many years in both high school and college); 3. Outstanding Game Officials in all sports from high school and college; 4.

    IMPACTTHE UNIVERSITY OF UTAH DEVELOPMENT NEWSLETTER WINTER 2015-16 Rio Mesa Center An Outdoor Lab on the Colorado Plateau Imagine an ancient floodplain with a wild river, surrounded by towering cliffs and red-rock canyons… A place to learn about the ecological, cultural, and geological wonders of southern Utah… A place served by ecologically-sensitive facilities for research, education, and other academic pursuits… This is the vision for Rio Mesa Center. Looking east from the Rio Mesa campground Photo by Philipe Cohen The University of Utah received an early Christmas present in mid-December when it took ownership of the Rio Mesa Center, located in the red-rock country of southeastern Utah. The 400-acre property is a gift to the U from Texas busi- nessman and philanthropist David Bonderman, who bought the property in 2008. David serves on the boards of several national environmental organizations and was committed to protecting the site from development. He found an enthu- siastic partner to join him in that effort in the University of Utah, which had been managing the site since 2006. Now, with the transfer of ownership to the U completed, David’s initial intention to protect the land is assured. Written into the site’s master plan is a pledge to preserve the integrity and open “wildness” of the site while promoting restoration and exploration of the natural world. Rio Mesa Center is located about 40 miles northeast of Moab along a three-mile stretch of the Dolores River. Archaeolog- ical findings indicate that the area has been occupied, at least intermittently, for the last 4,000 to 5,000 years.

Appendix APPENDIX A Appendix A Inaugural Address by President Michael Young April 15, 2005 -- It is with deep appreciation and gratitude that I welcome all of you who have chosen to join us on this special day in the life of this great university. I am honored and humbled by your presence. We have with us today leaders from government, industry, education and our religious communities; members of our University community, including administrators, faculty, students, staff and alumni; and hundreds of other supporters and well- wishers. Please know how much your presence means to Suzan and me and to the University. I am also delighted to welcome so many members of my extended family, who knew me when I was young and remain in some state of amazement that the Board of Regents really went through with this and put me in charge. None, of course, are more amazed or in a greater state of disbelief than my own children, who have joined us as well. Welcome to all of you. I also very much appreciate the warm words of support and encouragement that have gone before. As you might imagine, assuming leadership of this University–with its remarkable history and its record of world-class accomplishments–is daunting. But I take great comfort in knowing that I share this stewardship with so many exceptional people whose passion for the school and commitment to its success equals mine.
