He spent the last seven seasons as an assistant coach after serving the team in player development from 2010-12. Brind'Amour played 1,484 career NHL games in 21 seasons with STL, PHI and CAR, posting 1,184 points (452g, 732a) and captaining the Hurricanes to the Stanley Cup in 2006.
