Slipper Pattern

Fits a foot for a men’s Size 9/10

Materials: Approximately 160 yards worsted weight yarn in main color and 2 yards in a contrasting color. Set of 5 double-pointed needles US 7 (4.5 mm)

Using US7 (4.5 mm) double-pointed needles and main color yarn cast on a total of 20 loops using the figure-8 toe-up cast-on. 1st round - knit 20 sts 2nd round - K into front and back of 1st st, K8, K into front and back of 10th st, K into front and back of 11th st, K19 and K into front and back of last stitch (24 sts) 3rd round – K24 4th round - K into front and back of 1st st, K10, K into front and back of 12th st, K into front and back of 13th st, K10 and K into front and back of last stitch (28 sts)

Continue increasing 4 sts every other round until I have 40 sts total. Knit plain until the foot of my sock is approximately 1 inch shorter than the of the instep.

Gusset Increases: 1st round - Incr1 (using invisible increase by knitting into the loop below the first stitch and then knitting into the loop on the needle), K18, Incr1 (using invisible increase), K20 (42 sts total) 2nd round - Knit plain 3rd round - Incr1 (using invisible increase by knitting into the loop below the first stitch and then knitting into the loop on the needle), K20, Incr1 (using invisible increase), K20 (44 sts total) 4th round - Knit plain

Continue increasing 2 sts every other round until there are 52 sts total, ending with a Knit plain round.

Heel/Ankle: Knit 16 sts (this should put you in the center of the instep), and then increase 4 sts using the reverse “e” cast-on, turn. Knitting flat (in ) K56 sts, and then increase 4 sts using the knitted cast-on, turn. Sl first st, K59, and repeat this row a total of 24 times (13 garter ridges).

Heel Rounding: Row 1: Sl first st, K24, SSK, K6, K2Tog, K25, Turn. Row 2: Sl first st, K57, turn. Row 3: Sl first st, K24, SSK, K4, K2Tog, K24, Turn. Row 4: Sl first st, K55

Kitchener/graft the back of the heel together.

Using contrasting color, crochet a SC border on the top of the opening, starting with the center of the instep. At the back of the heel, I make a 10 chain loop and then finish the edging.
