University College-Newark (UC-N) 1. Criteria for Admission Credits Students must have completed a minimum of 24 credits at Rutgers University as a matriculating student at the time of application. Grade-Point Average Minimum Cumulative GPA: Students must have earned a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 2.30 at Rutgers University. Transcript Review: All previously earned credits will be reviewed in compliance with University College-Newark academic policies. Please note - a transcript review will not take place until a student has accepted admission. Students should be aware that University College-Newark may decline credits that were previously approved by their present school and/or adjust pass/no credit and repeated course grades in accordance with UC-N policy. Missing Grades: Grades of NG, TF, TZ, or INC will be calculated into the cumulative GPA as “F” for the purposes of determining admission. Students are expected to have completed all coursework and be issued final grades by the end of the semester in which they apply. Other Students must indicate on their applications if they are currently under review for disciplinary action. College Academic Policy: Admitted students are subject to all academic policies of University College-Newark. Once admitted to University College-Newark, all students must remain in compliance with the policies of University College-Newark. Conditional Admission: Additional conditions may be noted in the notification message sent to admitted students. Students are responsible for any compliance conditions specified. 2. Conditions Students must follow the general education requirements of the college to which they are admitted. All students must identify their intended major (and minor if applicable) offered through University College-Newark Students must remain in good academic standing at their current college and satisfactorily complete the current semester. Any additional conditions will be noted in the notification message to admitted students. 3. Required Documents Copies of other college and final high school transcripts obtained from the student’s current college may be required. If requested, students must forward them to the Office of Admissions, Rutgers, Rutgers University-Newark, 190 University Avenue, Newark, NJ 07102. International Students: Academic credentials from a foreign country may be required. If so, these credentials must be evaluated by World Education Services. The credit evaluation must be submitted to the Office of Admissions, Rutgers University-Newark, 190 University Avenue, Newark, NJ 07102. 4. Graduation Requirements See http://catalogs.rutgers.edu/generated/nwk-ug_current/index.html All students should review the UC-N Graduation Requirements Graduation Residency: In order to graduate from UC-N, students must earn 30 of their last 42 credits while registered in classes offered by Rutgers-Newark. 5. Application Deadline/Procedures and Notification Schedule Students interested in applying for admission to University College-Newark must submit the school-to-school transfer online application according to the schedule online. Applicants will receive notification of their admissions decision via the email address on their application. 7. Advising/Registration Information Advising/registration instructions will be given in the acceptance letter for school-to-school transfer students. Accepted students must attend the mandatory advisement session prior to registering for the upcoming semester. If a student is admitted to UC-N and has not completed a transferable math course, the student will be required to take a Rutgers University-Newark math placement exam before registering for a Rutgers University-Newark math course. 8. College Enrollment By submitting an application, an admitted student declares his/her intention to enroll at University College-Newark for the following term. The Office of the Registrar at Newark will change the student’s college of registration to University College-Newark (school code 62). 9. Withdrawal of Application Prior to a decision, an applicant may withdraw his/her application by visiting the status screen and clicking on “Withdraw My Application.” 10. Withdrawal after Admission If an admitted student is unable to enroll at University College-Newark he/she must select the “Decline Transfer” button displayed in their notification email within the time frame indicated, so that his/her college of registration may be modified accordingly. Without this notice, the college of registration will remain as University College-Newark, school code #62. 11. University Housing Students may contact University Housing at 973-353-1037/1073 or visit their web site for additional information and the downloadable housing application: http://housing.newark.rutgers.edu. Housing accommodations are assigned to school-to-school transfers on a space-available basis. 12. Accommodation Under ADA/Section 504 To facilitate uninterrupted accommodation, students currently receiving accommodation should inform their current campus coordinator of their intention to transfer. 13. Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) Students changing colleges must reapply for the EOF program because there is no guarantee that students will continue to receive funds through the EOF program at their new college. Students who have questions about EOF funding should call 973-353-1657or visit the website at: http://www.afc.rutgers.edu/eof.html. 14. Financial Aid A transfer may affect financial aid and/or scholarships. Students should contact financial aid 973- 353-5151 if they have any questions. .
