What is Erasmus+?
Erasmus+ is the European Union (EU) programme for education, training, youth and sport for the period 2014-2020. Erasmus+ funds academic and youth mobility and cooperation projects that involve partners from "Programme Countries" and "Partner Countries" throughout the world. In 2019, there were 34 Programme Countries, comprising the 28 EU Member States plus six other countries. Partner countries are located all over the world and include the countries of the Southern Mediterranean: Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Palestine, Syria and Tunisia.
Erasmus+ supports activities that are closely matched with the EU's priorities for cooperation policy with partner countries and regions. Six years into the programme, we can see how popular these initiatives are with countries from the region.
Jordan in CBHE.
Erasmus+ Capacity Building in Higher Education (CBHE) action projects, which last from two to three years, are aimed at modernizing and reforming higher education institutions, developing new curricula, improving governance, and building relationships between higher education institutions and enterprises. They can also tackle policy topics and issues, preparing the ground for higher education reform, in cooperation with national authorities. Around 16% of the annual global budget for CBHE projects is earmarked for South Mediterranean countries Capacity building projects can be addressed to a group of countries or a single country. They can also be cross-regional, including institutions from different partner regions Erasmus+ has funded 53 CBHE projects in Jordan in which Jordan acts as Grant Holder for 16 projects. Erasmus+ enabled Jordanians to prepare better projects, and to manage these projects. National Erasmus+ Office in Jordan has dedicated its efforts to improve CBHE projects for Jordanian HEIs through information days, seminars conducted especially to CBHE, and practical workshops on “How to prepare good project proposals”. As a result, and under the fourth and fifth calls for CBHE, Jordanian institutions have confirmed their strong interest in this action making Jordan one of the most active countries in the South Mediterranean region and the most active country in the world in the last call 2020 with 98 projects proposal.

Project Summary
MIMIr is primarly designed to aid, assist and soccour partner universities in South Neighbouring Countries to understand the status quo of their innovation and research, performance, efficacy, and practices and devise pathways to overcome impediments, hindrances, fiascos and pitfalls that prevent them from achieving recognised stature in the international landscape. The core tread to accomplish this goal is to measure existing innovation and research activities, to gauge regulatory framework management, administration and tools, and to scope opportunities for overcoming bureaucratic obstacles, stimulating conditions and elevate mindsets. Coupled to provision of comparative analysis to European processes, practices and state-of-the-art, the consortium will identify areas for change, targets for improvement, and a trajectory to excel. Accordingly, partner universities will be informed on the organisation of management of innovation and research in European universities, understand present model, principles, and standards, and embrace and partake the opportunity for support, guidance and corroboration from European partners.

Project Summary
The software engineering (SE) is a young discipline introduced in 1968. The first educational SE programs were accredited in 2003, the body of knowledge for the SE was accepted as an international standard in 2005, and in 2010 only about 60 universities in the US offered SE programs. According to the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics, the job growth rate ranges from 38% to 56% across the computing spectrum, and the CNN/Money Magazine in 2006 ranked SE as the best job for salary and opportunities. The situation in EU is similar to the situation in North America - the first Bachelor programs in the world were established in the UK and many universities offer Bachelor, Master and PhD programs in SE. At the same time Jordan has only one PhD program in computing and none in SE. In Russia there is a strong tradition on computing research but the SE discipline is scarcely presented.PWs@PhD project approaches SE based on the Software Engineering Body of Knowledge, the SWEBOK, as 15 key knowledge areas and 7 closely related disciplines. Introducing such a broad based discipline in any university is a major challenge, and the PWs@PhD project supports the development, modernization and internalization of higher education in the target countries by helping them to train the university staff and PhD students. The project partners have expertise in different areas and this expertise is offered to the project partners. The project has 7 development work packages in which are built around 2 week intense schools organized in different universities. Each university sends PhD students to the schools to study as a part of their PhD education, and the target countries can also train their staff in the schools. The intense schools provide so much information that a typical PhD student cannot learn it all, but individual students can select the best suited schools to create his/her personal path to all the needed knowledge and skills in his/her PhD.

Project Summary
Better understanding of the socio-economic impacts of implementing renewable energy and energy efficiency (REEE) technologies enables faster and more sustainable development of the REEE market. However, this knowledge field is underrepresented in the existing technically overwhelmed teaching curricula at universities and hence, is considered a deficit that should be reduced. By doing this, a proper preparation of qualified working force needed to sustain the development of the REEE market will be ensured. The importance of this project comes from tackling this problem by integrating the socio-economic dimension in REEE teaching programmes offered at HEIs in beneficiary countries. In this context, this project aims at developing and implementing interdisciplinary teaching modules and training courses on the socio-economic impacts of REEE on university teaching level. While the teaching materials target graduate and post-graduate students, the training courses are designed to train the teachers involved in the process. The teaching modules will be prepared by the project partners in close cooperation with associated partners form the society, academia, public and private sectors. The teaching modules cover the following aspects: - Analysis of macro- and micro-economic impacts of REEE projects - Analysis of social impacts of REEE projects- Analysis of ecological impacts of REEE projects- RE project management - International and regional REEE markets - Sustainable development of REEE market In the implementation phase, the modules will be incorporated in existing curricula at partner universities and thereafter at associated universities. In a following step, these modules will be disseminated through targeted e- learning and training sessions. The expected impact of this project is mainly making the teaching of REEE at participating universities more comprehensive by covering the socio-economic dimension. This shall enhance the students’ knowledge level and

Project Summary
A solid public health system constitutes a pillar of advanced societies, capable of providing their citizens with an enabling environment for development and smart and inclusive societies. All countries in Europe and beyond need to address increasingly global health challenges with the support of innovative approaches and skilled professionals. To do so, HEIs need to introduce programmes with a wide range of skills and disciplines, superseding fragmented or insufficient approaches. This situation of fragmented and insufficient approaches is particularly demanding in the South Mediterranean countries due, i.a., to its political and socio-economic climate. Competence-based education and multidisciplinary approaches are essential to prepare public health specialists for organising and managing actions able to improve the health conditions of the populations, reduce inequalities, strengthen the public health and health care systems and transfer innovation-related knowledge.Against this background, MED-HEALTH aims at introducing a Master degree programme in Public Health Management in South Mediterranean HEIs in line with Bologna requirements and with a regional and holistic approach. This programme will help improve the competitiveness of professionals in the target PCs, contributing to better employment opportunities, closing gaps in the public health systems, improving societal perspectives and international cooperation.Strong linkages between HEIs and public health stakeholders from the EU and the South Mediterranean region will be spanned and high quality education in HEIs in public health will be enhanced. Complementary to the studies, an ePortal on Public Health will be set up at the South Mediterranean target universities to serve as a point of reference in the matter for the HEIs in the region. In addition, a Regional Health Management Network will be created to boost ,i.a., regional and international cooperation initiatives.

Project Summary
Road traffic accidents are a growing health, social and economic problem in the partner countries Egypt, Jordan and Lebanon. Whereas EU countries, steadily and systematically reduced the numbers and severity of road accidents last decades, by implementing modern solutions and applications, the problems continue to grow in EG-JO-LB. Much of this existing knowledge, practices and know-how in EU can be transferred and implemented in partner countries. The overall aim of the project is to design, develop, adapt and implement a new MS.c curriculum in the field of Road Traffic Safety within joint efforts between EU-EG-JO-LB partner Universities according to Bologna requirements and EU traffic safety standards and best practices. The developed curriculum will be based on a market analysis and job demands for graduate engineers in EG-JO-LB. The curriculum will be tailored to the problems, needs and traffic characteristics in EG-JO-LB. This curriculum will be supported with several innovative elements e.g.:- The EU-MENA Network in Traffic Safety for sharing best practices and know-how between universities and stakeholders.- The EU-EG-JO-LB traffic accidents database for benchmarking and analysis.- The EU-EG-JO-LB handbook of best practices in traffic accidents.- The EU-EG-JO-LB handbook of traffic accidents standards. This curriculum will be also supported with ICT supported platforms e.g. OpenCourseWare for sharing teaching and learning material, Webinar online meetings, etc.The project will be structured into 4 phases:1. Current curriculum analysis (from Month 1 to Month 6).2. Development of the new curriculum and innovative elements (from M7 to M24).3. Realisation of the new curriculum (from M19 to M24).4. Implementation and evaluation (from M25 to M36).This curriculum, supported material and gained skills will contribute positively on economy and society development in partner country by making road traffic in MENA region safer and sustainable.

Project Summary
The HiCure project seeks to build capacities to develop an integrated curricula in Health Informatics as pathways within the undergraduate degrees of the faculties of Health and Information Technology, using a student-centred adaptive learning approach based on the bologna processes. It aims to develop two pathways, integrated within the current curricula, to bring continuity and achieve harmony across the programmes. The project will develop 12 courses in total. Each pathway will include eight courses, four of these courses will be common across the two pathways, while four of each of the eight courses will be unique to each pathway. These two pathways will be deployed at the four participating partner universities, two in Palestine (P1: BZU, P3:HU) and two in Jordan (P4:JUST, P5:HaU). The uniqueness of this approach, that to meet the multidisciplinary needs of the two domains, it will develop an innovative user-centred adaptive learning to create an integrated curricula and enable the four universities to integrate the new developed courses within their degrees addressing variations, yet meeting their own specified key learning outcomes. The importance of Health Informatics to be part of the undergraduate training as integral part of their educational skills, is critical to advance the health domain towards evidence-based practices, in the region, which is currently almost non- existent. These skills are essential to solidify the deeper understanding of the value and importance of health informatics not only to their speciality, but also their profession, work and practice. They will promote the uptake and implementation of health information systems to become essential part of their profession as enabling mechanisms to improve the quality of health. Thus one key objective of HiCure is to develop capacity of members of faculty in Health Informatics and create undergraduate pathways to ensure sustainability and lasting impact.

Project Summary
There is a worldwide consensus today on the relevance of quality human resource management (HRM) for the optimisation of Higher Education Institutions’ performance. HEIs are facing increasingly complex contexts which require HRM models able to respond to new challenges in the selection, development and motivation of their staff. HR approaches focused on staff recruitment, organisation of employment contracts and salary payment are completely superseded by the necessity to take account of new issues, such as training, promotion and encouragement, development support and strategic planning for future needs. In South Mediterranean countries, aspects such as the socio-political climate and the level of state expenditure in education influence the capacity of HEIs to address these challenges, calling for supporting actions in this regard.Against this background, RISE’s main goal is to contribute to South Mediterranean HE Reform Agenda through the modernisation of People Management. This global purpose will be targeted by means of three specific objectives:* To build up capacities and skills in HRM on target South Mediterranean HEIs for stronger organisational efficiency;* To create a regional network on HRM as a forum for exchange of good practices; * To conceive and develop institutional HR strategies in South Mediterranean HEIs.These objectives will be pursued by a set of interrelated and focused activities, starting with an in-depth analysis of the target HEIs’ HR practices and needs to shape the rest of interventions. A range of skills enhancement actions will follow, including tailor-made training (on-site/online), upgrading of HR technical tools, and drafting and publication of a Guide on Good Practices on HRM. Targeted dissemination and sustainability actions will optimise exploitation of results, helping the consortium multiply and extend the benefits of the outputs generated to other HEIs in the region.

Project Summary
This project proposes the development of an MSc degree program that covers the core and new trends in Health Informatics (HI) and incorporate expertise at EU institutions and six MENA universities. The program will use modern learning and research approaches to support the program curriculum on new HI trends. Improving the efficiency of the care process, and enhancing the quality and outcome of medical treatment are underlying themes of the master program in HI. The biomedical informatics field was defined as spanning the subfields of bioinformatics (molecular and cellular processes); imaging informatics (tissues and organ systems); clinical informatics (individuals and patients) and public health informatics (populations and society). The last two subfields, clinical informatics and public health informatics together comprise health informatics, and are at the heart of our envisioned program. Our proposed curriculum will focus on:-Clinical tasks – in particular, medical decision-making pertaining to prevention, diagnosis, treatment and follow up and the required support from information systems – as well as patient-related issues;- Healthcare organisation and processes - in particular, the use of information technology in structuring and organising patient-care processes (care-chain logistics). The program will provide preliminaries; foundations (such as quality of care based on clinical registries; terminology systems; and Evaluation and Usability); and emerging technologies (such as Decision Support Systems; eHealth; and Big data analytics). The program objectives are to meet the growing demand for skills pertaining to solving information-related problems and to tackle the problem of lack of job readiness of (IT) graduates entering the healthcare sector. Bringing together the various institutions will facilitate arriving at the definition of the precise program goals and the learning outcomes.

Project Summary
The ENEPLAN project was conceived to address the lack of interdisciplinary approaches in higher education on energy planning and RES development in Mediterranean areas, by increasing the capacities of future professionals through innovative ICT-based educational approaches, able to integrate different disciplines (spatial planning, environment, engineering, landscape) and foster collaboration with research and business activities in the RES sector, thus keeping up with its rapid technological innovation. Addressing this issue is crucial to ensure sustainability in energy planning, and form more qualified, up to date, employable professionals, able to deal with innovative RES-based solutions and with the complexity of their socio-economic and environmental context. To attain this goal, ENEPLAN proposes an alternation of desk activities and workshops aimed at the collective production, development, testing and practical application of Open Educational Resources on energy planning, based on the tool of collaborative Concept maps.A Concept map is an ICT tool to represent relationships among concepts, and, as OER, it can be “customized” according to users’ needs, resulting in a versatile instrument for educational purposes and professional upgrade, as well as in a stimulus for developing applied research. Through this tool, ENEPLAN aims to:- improve the quality and modernisation of HE curricula and teaching and research activities in the field of integrated energy planning; - increase the labour market relevance of learning provisions and qualifications, and the employability of graduates;- strengthen the relations between HEI and the wider socio-economic environment, by involving academics, students, planners and enterprises in the creation of common tools and networks.OERs, uploaded on the ENEPLAN e-learning platform, will be available in English and Arabic, to be exploitable by a wide number of users in Europe and in the Arabic-speaking Mediterranean countries.

Project Summary
The wider objective of the project is to support the structural reform of the higher education system in Jordan, develop a qualifications framework for higher education in line with national priorities, and implement at different institutional levels. NQF-J shall provide a QF for higher education for implementation at institutional level and, importantly, set up the basis for a comprehensive NQF, and thus endeavours to establish an NQF model that identifies the generic expectations of all levels of higher educational programmes. These will be expressed as learning outcomes, mainly based on knowledge, skills and competences. The standards of qualifications at each level will be created and established through a number of activities in which descriptors will be determined, along with appropriate QA processes, by all stakeholders in higher education. The methodology for setting and assuring the qualification standards will be disseminated among academic institutions, government agencies responsible for QA and accreditation, and a wide spectrum of stakeholders. The project will clearly demonstrate the standards of Jordanian higher education awards and their national comparability. Additionally, through rigorous comparison with other national QFs, the project will demonstrate comparability of Jordanian higher education wider awards with international norms and expectations, thus supporting mobility and employability. In particular, its compatibility against the Framework for Qualifications of the European Higher Education Area (FQ-EHEA) and also against the European Qualifications Framework (EQF) will be demonstrated.

Project Summary
The partner countries involved in this proposal, namely Lebanon, Jordan and Iraq (but also some of the Programme Countries involved, such as Turkey and Germany) are experiencing a very critical situation due to the high number of refugees present on their territory: most of these are Syrian citizens, and include a high percentage of former University students who had to interrupt their academic curriculum. The main specific objective of RESCUE is to help the Partner Country Universities in structuring an effective response to this problem, by creating ad hoc units (the Refugee Student Operational Support Unit – R-SOS), whose mission is to structure specific services supporting the refugee students in resuming their academic training path. The analysis carried out by the target Universities has shown that each one of them has different approaches and constraints vis-à-vis this problem, therefore ad hoc solutions must be implemented in each one of them. Hence each EU university with an experience in dealing with this issue will cooperate with the Universities of one specific MENA Country: TU Berlin will support the Lebanese Universities, Aydin University will support the Iraqi Universities whereas Barcelona University will support the Jordan Universities.Once the R-SOS units will be operational, the services they will deliver will help the refugee students in resuming their academic training path, in some cases by accessing the standard curricula on the same basis as all the other students, in some other cases by following ad hoc training courses providing them with basic skills and competencies useful for employment purposes. Therefore it is expected that the setting up of the R-SOS units will help in improving the situation of the refugee student either by supporting them in getting a job in the hosting countries either in preparing them for returning to their origin country once the crisis is over.

Project Summary
The aim of this project is to establish an interdisciplinary master program in rehabilitation sciences at Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST). Higher education in rehabilitation sciences is almost lacking in the region. Additionally, the entry level (bachelor degree) in this field in Jordan focuses heavily on the theory basis with no equivalent clinical reasoning and sound practical education. There is, therefore, a widening gap between the products of higher education institutions in this field and the skills sets and competencies demanded by the job market. The field is also fragmented between different disciplines that are not used to cooperate in teams (i.e. there is a lack of multidisciplinary team concept). All of this has an impact on the service provided in Jordan at the time that there is an increasing need for the rehabilitative services in Jordan because of the increased numbers of the traumatized refugees. Recognizing this need to offer a program addressing the described challenges, the department of rehabilitation sciences within JUST is planning to develop a master program in rehabilitation sciences. Our goal is to prepare students to be caring and reflective ‘paracademic’ practitioners who are clinical scholars with the ability to provide client- centered, efficient health care service, to critically evaluate the scientific basis of practice, to adapt to and initiate change, and to become life- long learners. A further aim of this project is to implement a modern innovative international program. Therefore, on-line rehabilitation education, a new trend pedagogy, will be adopted and utilized by instructors, students and clinicians from all consortium partners. The target is to provide a real-world learning environment that will facilitate students' acquisition of strong skills set, allowing them to enter the job market ready and equipped to serve.

Project Summary
Climate projections for the Middle East and North African (MENA) region indicate warmer and drier conditions with increased frequency of natural disasters. Agriculture is one of the most vulnerable economic sectors to climate change, mainly due to the limited availability of water and land resources in the two target MENA countries (Egypt and Jordan). There is future risk of higher skills shortages in ‘niche’ areas related to the impact of climate change to agricultural sectors and food production. In particular, there is need for highly specialised scientists in the field of agriculture and food security who want to combine scientific and social or policy skills to better understand and make significant contributions to climate adaptation and mitigation in agriculture and food security. It is critical to integrate agricultural science with related subjects that impact on sustainability and food security such as geo-politics, legislation and regulation, consumer pressures, economics, agro-ecology and environmental stewardship, especially at the post- graduate level. An inter/multidisciplinary MSc programme in Climate Change, Agricultural Development and Food Security (CCSAFS) is urgently needed. CCSAFS is driven by the Bologna process and a multi-stakeholder approach advanced through a participatory or negotiated curriculum, innovative methodologies such as the 10Cs transversal skills in a problem-based learning environment enabled by ICTs, blended learning, SDGs and agro-food entrepreneurship in teaching, learning and outreach activities. Graduates will be equipped with interdisciplinary knowledge and agro-food entrepreneurship and ethics to promote sustainable agricultural production, food security and climate change adaptation. Project Summary
The impetus which carries the consortium to apply for the project is to be a part of the food safety and quality chain. Food safety has become a serious issue for all human being and a possible cause of threaten to health and may be life. As this chain is a serious component of everybody daily life activities, it is important to offer people a trusted opinion and personnel to give a technical decision when it comes to their food. People seek food that is safe and of a nutritive value. This safety will not be achieved without the establishment of centres that strengthen the food safety procedure and help in preventing cases of food-borne diseases in the world. In Jordan Food safety is one of the top government priorities. Government has worked hard since decades to control and issue a set of legislations to guarantee the safety of food provided to citizens of Jordan. Ministry of health established the Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA) in 2003. The JFDA works as an independent public sector institution that is the sole national competent authority for ensuring food safety and quality. The FoodQA will be in line with the Jordanian vision resembled by the JFDA for providing safe food. FoodQA is a project concentrates on strengthening and enhancing the role of academia and industry in food sector. The creation of an interface Centres between the industry and academia is intended to support the HEI and structure the interfaces between HEIs and Industry; making available to the food sector technical and scientific services that can contribute to the development of the industry and to strength its competitiveness in the direction of a future collaboration with EU particularly in the area of food safety. This if happened will be positively reflected on the national economy, as it is a major industrial part and offer a huge number of employment opportunities for youth.

Project Summary
Renewable Energy (RE) is expected to be one of the main solutions for clean power supply and covering the shortage in the electrical power. Smart Grids (SG) are expected to be a key enabler in the integration of Renewable Energy Sources (RES) in the electrical networks. Better understanding of the SG concept enables faster and more sustainable development of the RE and SG market. However, this knowledge field is underrepresented in the existing technically overwhelmed teaching curricula at universities and hence, is considered a deficit that should be reduced. The importance of this project comes from tackling this problem by integrating the SG and the methods of integrating RES to electrical grid in RE teaching programmes offered at HEIs in beneficiary countries. In this context, this project aims at developing and implementing interdisciplinary teaching modules and training courses on SG and integration of RES to electrical networks on university teaching level. While the teaching materials target graduate and post-graduate students, the training courses are designed to train the teachers involved in the process. The teaching modules will be prepared by the project partners in close cooperation with industrial stockholders.A training center will also be established in beneficiary universities to facilitate the development of the workforce currently working in the field of RE. One of this project outputs will be the curricula of this center. In the implementation phase, the modules will be incorporated in existing curricula at partner universities and some special modules will be also offered in the training center for the industrial stockholders. In a following step, these modules will be disseminated through targeted e- learning. The expected impact of this project is mainly making the teaching of SG and RES at participating universities more comprehensive and to enhance the workforces’ knowledge level currently involved in RE market about the application of SG.

Project Summary
The textile industry is highly of relevant importance both in Morocco and Jordan accounting for 165k jobs in the former and 60k in the later, making one of the largest industrial sector for both countries. However, most SME companies have limited access to services like testing, training, research, studies, technology and financial funding instruments. Also, there are not any focal points in these two countries that fulfil the knowledge triangle, bringing together enterprises, universities and research centers, especially as far as the advanced textiles' production is concerned.FOSTEX project aims to fill the gap in the area of specialized services for the textile sector, with the establishment of four advanced textiles’ centers located at the participating HEIs in Jordan and Morocco. These centers will play the role of focal points for the textile sector and relevant stakeholders to bloom innovations and promoting entrepreneurship. A customized capacity building program will be assembled by EU partners, experts in training and in advanced textiles, in order to improve the management and technical skills of experts running the centers as well as providing EU experience with best practices. Additional outputs which will catalyze the activities of the centers are the drafting of an entrepreneurial plan for each country supplemented by the roundtables on innovation and entrepreneurship, and fostering synergic meetings among textile experts from EU with partner countries’ HEIs and textile industry. A custom service list will be defined with support from EU partners for each advanced textiles’ center according to sectorial needs at each region of influence. Ultimately, the goal is to foster the university-industry collaboration to support the development of innovations and entrepreneurship in the textile sector in Morocco and Jordan to generate an ecosystem of advanced textile materials.

Project Summary
With the rise in population and drop in the economy, Jordan needs new ideas and schemes involving the younger population for the country to strive in the future. JOB-JO is an initiative brought together by universities in the South of Jordan lead by Mutah University, the Ministry of Public Works and Housing, as well as European partners. The aim of the project is to promote youth employment and reduce poverty in Jordan’s remote areas which will empower economic and social aspects of these communities as well as provide women more opportunities for success. Although the literate rate in Jordan is high, and people are getting more educated than ever, the employment rate is low due to many social and economic factors. As most universities provide the best education possible, students still lack many skills that would be easy to gain. The career centers would provide services in order to teach and train unemployed graduates to be requalified for more job opportunities. Services such as training courses, skills and communication workshops, as well as support entrepreneurships and initiatives brought by the community would be offered. These services would have European influence through exchange programs as well as the great relationship to happen between universities in Jordan and the experienced universities in Europe. The short term impact would be to allow graduates to gain skills and training needed for their professions where in the long term, these career centers would foster the economic growth and reduce the unemployment and poverty in the remote areas of Jordan.

Project Summary
Water is the most valuable and rare resource in the Middle East. The potential climate change impacts in the region require the new generation of water managers to learn and utilize new and innovative methods and techniques to achieve sustainability. In addition there is a significant gap between the learning skills of graduates from the HEIs and what the companies and enterprises want. To alleviate this gap, firstly a Network with water professionals (HEIS and enterprises) will be established for the Middle East. This network will provide feedback on the new state of the art courses that will be developed and taught in Partner Country HEIs to enhance the knowledge, tools and skills of the graduates and increase their attractiveness to enterprises. These courses will incorporate the latest and newest technologies on water management. Enterprises will be integrated in the courses by having students solve real-life water case studies provided by enterprises, with seminars by water professionals and practical placement to promote entrepreneurship. The courses will utilize new pedagogical approaches with interactive exercises, use of videos, social networks, flexible learning path, blended courses etc. to enhance learning capacities. The courses will be available on a virtual learning portal thus providing them also by distance learning and enhancing their accessibility. Establishing a distance-learning program is essential for this region because of the frequent instability that makes it impossible to always attend classes. The languages of the courses will be Arabic and English so they could be adopted by other Mediterranean countries. The project is very collaborative and international since it has 13 partners from 6 countries. The new teaching approaches and state of the art courses will train science-based water management graduates with the necessary tools to significantly increase their employability leading to more sustainable water management in the region.

Project Summary
The Jordan’s digital economy action plan aims to ease the creation of new businesses and create more supportive environments for entrepreneurs to thrive and grow. However, the National Innovation Strategy (2013 – 2017), developed by the Higher Council of Science and Technology (HCST) in Jordan, discussed the weaknesses of the national innovation systems in Jordan which includes legislative, legal, human, and institutional factors such as the absence of proper structures of transfer and distribution of innovation as well as the weak relationship between universities and industrial companies. Universities play a very important role in that context. They should be empowered to contribute to equip students and faculty members with entrepreneurial capabilities to support innovation and facilitate connections between academia and industry. BITTCOIN-JO will build on the previous EU supported projects in Jordan such as TEJ and STRD II. It will focus on creating the infrastructure needed to create self-sustainable Technology Transfer offices according to a new model that not only focuses on the practical steps to create and run those offices but also on providing legal, licensing, business and innovation training courses to university scientists, university administrative staff, students, and industry stakeholders. The previous projects focused on stimulating the development of university-enterprise cooperation, but they ignored the process of Technology Transfer when running those offices, which requires detailed practical knowledge about research commercialisation, startups, spinoffs, and patents. BITTCOIN-JO will provide detailed steps for establishing new TTO according to a metric-oriented model, and modernization of the existing TTOs in the higher education institutions in Jordan, which in turn provide better career options. The project aims at building capacities to create TTOs in Jordan. The offices will be established at YU, and HTU and modernised at UOP and GJU.

Project Summary
Medical Schools in the Middle East are currently suffering from a critical shortage of scientists and academicians holding higher degrees in the various disciplines of basic medical sciences (BMS). For most of these Schools, the requirements for a Bachelor degree in Medicine include the successful completion of three years of intense coursework in BMS, prior to passing through three additional years of patient-oriented, bedside clinical coursework. Thus, iBMS-JO project responds to the needs to graduate students with deep background in BMS. This can be achieved by the establishment the first innovative intercalated BSc (iBSc) programs in BMS. Moreover, Telemedicine Labs (TL) will also be established to support the research activities of students and faculty, as well as providing services to the health care facilities. The establishment of an intercalated BSc (iBSc) programs in BMS is an opportunity for students to learn more about a particular topic, to develop transferable skills and/or participate in a more in-depth research project than previously available as part of a medical degree. This is can be offered after the 3rd or 4th year, which could also include an intercalated year into their standard medical programs, making them a 7-year degree, where an intercalation typically lasts one year. The expected outputs of this program include: n. 6 accredited iBSc programs in BMS, capacity building for the staff (at least 48): a) to design curricula in line with the Bologna process, b) to design and develop inter/multidisciplinary course curricula in clinical nutrition (at least 7 new modules, 120 students/year); and c) to apply innovative and flexible teaching and learning methods. Moreover, TL will provide research facilities for students and staff (n. >40 research project/year), which will support the iBSc programs and function as life-long learning resources and Centres of Excellence in medical education and research.

Project Summary
The MED2IaH initiative stems from the necessity of cover an important aspect of internationalization in Mediterranean countries (Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan) higher education system that has not been tackled adequately until now – Internationalisation at Home (IaH). Within EU funded projects, internationalization at large has been covered by different projects embracing European concepts like Bologna system, ECTS, internationalization of curriculum and cross-cultural issues within a multi-diversity paradigm. Though IaH is a relatively recent concept, it has already been embraced widely, particularly in northern and western Europe. IaH aims to bring internationalisation to all students through the home curriculum. It is therefore primarily about teaching and learning, which implies that lecturers are increasingly becoming prominent players in internationalisation. After all, they are the ones who create learning environments with international and intercultural dimensions. The project thus attempts to develop University Strategy on IoHE and Research and individual Action plans for IaH in 12 PCHEIs after exploring the different EU models available for IaH. A common terminology around the concept of IaH will be needed as well. As a way to reinforce IaH strategies partners will establish specific guidelines and protocols for foreign student services - including those related to safety and security for instance. Other mechanisms like social integration schemes will be developed as well. A particular activity to enhance IaH will be the organisation and delivery of virtual webinars in PC HEI. The project will support the development of a strategic framework for HE and IaH specificially and the enhancement of structured regulations and procedures that facilitate incoming exchange mobilities, creation of support schemes for foreign students coming to PC HEIs and complementing other measures that have been previously put in place through other CBHE projects.

Project Summary
The Main objective of Healing Project is to develop a multidisciplinary diploma in Art therapy in Health Education as well as to Establish Art Therapy Centre in each partner university.HEALING project will be designed and implemented across (8) Universities in Tunisia, Jordan and, coordinated by the University of Jordan. The main objective of the project is to represent and encourage the development of the Arts Therapies and Arts Therapies education in partner countries, in particular, to design professional educational program (e-learning package) that will enable all staff and students working with patients with long term conditions to offer their patients arts-based therapeutic activities. The consortium will collaborate to create materials for the eLearning package of vocational training for staff and students in how to use the arts as a therapeutic tool. This new learning package will enable staff from a variety of professional backgrounds to include the arts as part of their therapeutic work. (The Arts Therapies include art therapy, dance therapy, drama therapy and music therapy).rt Therapy Diploma with (24) new courses will be designed and implemented. according to Bologna process for undergraduate & graduate students, accredited and adapted into the involved departments, which equals to 120 ECTS)There is a lack of awareness of the real value of arts therapy. Considering the lack of institutes, therapists and use, this comes as no surprise. Again, pressure on health providers, lack of resources, low numbers of professionals, large numbers of patients, the range of needs and access to health centers sometimes drives health providers to cover basic medical services and disregard treatments that are underdeveloped in their countries as luxuries. From here comes the need for this Arts Therapy Center. Where it will raise awareness of the role of arts therapy, raise the number of professionals in this field and provide therapeutic services.

The consequences of such situations are even more severe for children (Fazel et al, 2012; Reed et al, 2012), and they include neurodevelopmental problems (Turley & Obrzut, 2012; Zaydeh et al, 2016). The effects and consequences of neurodevelopmental problems caused by the exposure to traumatic events, violence or malnourishment (Fasfous et al, 2013; Thabet et al, 2004) develop during childhood and adolescence and spread throughout life affecting academic performance, professional status and mental health during adulthood (Shonkoff, 2011, 2012). The largest number of refugees living in regions around Europe are located in the Middle East, specifically in Palestine and Jordan (Gonzalez-Ubeda, 2017). There are more than 2 million people living in refugee camps in Palestine. Moreover, 700,000 Syrians and 2 million Palestinian refugees are living in Jordan (almost 40% of the total population) (González-Úbeda, 2017). Nevertheless, professionals who provide care to refugee children (principally psychologists, social workers, and teachers) have limited or lacking training on neurodevelopment and its related problems. For these reasons, the main objective of this Project is to design and implement a higher diploma about neurodevelopment focused on refugee children for professionals who are involved in their care. This higher diploma will include units about brain and neuropsychological development, detection of neuropsychological problems, instruments for detection, etc. Objectives and sustainability will be achieved by means of qualifying academic staff on neurodevelopment as well as instructing them on becoming the future teachers of the diploma. Training will be supported by both online learning tools and personal training.

Project Summary
This project aims to enhance university enterprise cooperation in JO and LB in order to improve teaching and learning experience of students and enhance the employability of graduate. The project responds to the widely recognised problem that university graduates often lack the employability skills needed by employers and, in addition, their knowledge in the field of ICT is behind the state of the art and below that of companies they want to work in. The project aims to alleviate this problem by bringing Universities and enterprises closer together by establishing University- Enterprise Cooperation Networks. Through a range of activities (such as arranging internships for students at partner companies and involving qualified staff of companies in giving lectures at the universities and mentoring students who want to complete their projects and theses in companies) arranged by their newly established Liaison Offices, universities aim at building a programme of cooperation and developing student’s knowledge of the world of work. The project involves upgrading and updating of the capacities of University staff and improve the curricula of at least ten subjects in each university. Study periods to EU universities will be arranged to provide the updating and upgrading opportunities for Jordanian and Lebanese academic and technical staff during which they can improve their own knowledge of the latest development in their subjects and also upgrade the curricula of their subjects. The upgrading of the curricula consists of enhancing both scientific and technical skills of students as well as their employability skills. EU universities have been engaged in serious discussion about graduate employability and partner country staff can learn a great deal from this experience and take steps to produce ‘work ready’ graduates. EU staff will support the upgrading of curricula and engage in teaching in JO and LB institutions and help the internationalisation agenda.

Project Summary
As the global community makes the transition from the millennium development goals to sustainable development goals, is turning its attention to the values of Earth Observation (EO) and geospatial information as critical development enablers. Geospatial data have become an essential fuel to boost digital economy and it is more timely than ever to realise that the geospatial industry is on the verge of something special: a data driven world where position is the common factor. EO/ geospatial aims to offer this essential move to create opportunities for the digital economy and this forms the basis for the topic of this proposal. This project concentrates on Region 3 (Arab state countries). Whilst Arab state HEIs have high gross tertiary enrollment rates they lack to create the appropriate value chain of job openings. It is essential to raise awareness among the students and professionals about the significance of EO/geospatial information, encourage gender equity in this direction and update the relevance of curricula programs outcomes to market needs. The vision of ERODITE is to enhance and promote learning, extension, outreach, activities at the partner HEIs through the creation of geospatiallyintegrated collaboration. The mission is to develop a plan to make the partner HEIs geospatiallyintegrated universities where EO/geospatial science, thinking, and visualization are broadly applied across disciplines and are supported through readily accessible and high capacity EO material, training and expertise. The objectives are to develop (i) educational network with Arab state HEIs that will introduce strategies for the development of innovative educational approach for effective EO/geospatial pathways and (ii) an open, collaborative learning environment (EO platform) that will allow access to various thematic and training pathways and create new ones adapted to user groups

Project Summary
Jordanian medical schools graduate close to 2000 students annually. This number far exceeds the approximately 400 available residency training positions. On average, medical students have two weeks of training in outpatient primary healthcare settings during their entire medical school. The majority of their training takes place in an inpatient setting or in specialty clinics. Due to the lack of residency positions, the vast majority of the graduates directly begin working as General Practitioners (GPs) in an outpatient setting. A large portion of these GPs find jobs within the ministry of health (MOH) and often work in rural areas without nearby mentors available. The resulting impact is a drastic discrepancy of care between those clinics with residency-trained physicians and those staffed by GPs. The main goal of our Family Medicine Diploma Program is to increase overall health in Jordan by providing an increase of well-trained physicians while also decreasing healthcare costs by decreasing costly referrals and unneeded tests. GPs will be given valuable on-the-job experience in an outpatient setting under the supervision of a board-certified Family Medicine physician. GPs will receive enough training to confidently and accurately develop a broad differential diagnosis, decide upon a specific diagnosis, and properly treat the disease. Heavy emphasis will be on critical thinking and communication skills. This will increase the quality of care the patients receive leading to better health in the entire community. Furthermore, since the physicians will be more confident in their clinical judgment, they will refer less patients to specialists. They will refer less patients to specialists. They will also order less unnecessary tests and procedures. All of these outcomes will decrease overall health costs and decrease disease burden

Project Summary
Recently, artificial intelligence and robotics (AIR) have been making huge advances enabling them to enter new applications, constituting disruptive forces to various aspects of our lives. Developing countries such as Jordan and Lebanon suffer from slowing economies and high unemployment rates. These problems will worsen as AIR technologies succeed in automating more jobs and shifting production and jobs to the countries that employ these technologies to efficiently offer better services and products. Therefore, it is essential for all countries to engage in using and developing these technologies to create new businesses, improve existing products and services, and foster human prosperity. The consortium of this proposal is taking the initiative of "Developing Curricula for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (DeCAIR)"; a project that intends to develop curricula in the areas of AIR through new master's and bachelor programs. These programs will give students opportunities to specialize in AI technologies, Robotics technologies, or using AI solutions to develop smart and autonomous robots that can solve unconventional problems. Additionally, DeCAIR will improve the curricula of existing masters and bachelor programs in the areas of AIR, establish relevant modern laboratories, and implement modern teaching methods such as flipped learning and project-based learning. All this will improve the graduates' practical skills and enable them to exploit these revolutionary technologies to solve local and regional problems, create new jobs, and to start new ventures. Other project aims are to improve the teaching capacity at universities of the Partner Countries, build a network of highly qualified professionals in these areas among partner universities, and improve collaboration with local and regional industries and community for applying AIR technologies in solving industry and community problems.

Project Summary
In the MENA region the unemployment rate among HE graduates is among the highest in the world as a direct result of the mismatch between education outcomes and expectations of the labor market. With the fast evolving pattern of the market- needs as a result of revolutionary technologies such as Industry 4.0, AI, robotics and machine learning, a new shift in human resource requirements map is at hand leaving HEIs with an inevitable time-pressing challenge to adjust the learning processes to yield particular competencies that expand way beyond the technical knowledge that has been the focus for many decades. It is thus the aim of this project is to develop a generation of globally-exposed HE graduates, equipped with essential character, social and cognitive skills blended with academic competencies, with a higher degree of readiness for the fast-evolving community and job market, and who are capable to integrate effectively in multicultural, diverse eco-system. Hence, Competence-tailored Student Journey Map that blends academic and academic-complimentary competencies during the student lifetime is introduced. A pilot set of competence-tailored 35 short- and 10 longterm extracurricular activities & “quests” are designed and programmed into the LMS & SIS of partner HEIs, along with 35 courses (120 ECTS) in Engineering and ICT restructured to align with SDGs in competency-based format, targeting the full envisioned picture of the future “Global Citizen” possessing competencies that were clearly identified via an exhaustive gap analysis developed at the beginning of the project. A target of at least 60 students at each of the 7 partner HEIs in Egypt, Jordan and Algeria is planned. Student- Stakeholders Engagement Portal, where employers and students share their profiles and where both have open arena to engage in internships, summer jobs, capacity building programs is essential in the proposed integrative (academic/extracurricular/industry engagement) approach.

Project Summary
The Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region is currently more affected by wars and gross human rights violations than any other region in the world. To address this critical reality, innovative and promising approaches to the promotion of peace must be developed and integrated into the higher educational system within the region. Both Reconciliation and Conflict Transformation Studies are state-of-the-art approaches to transforming violent conflicts and triggering a social and cultural change. The development of Peace, Reconciliation, and Conflict Transformation Studies in the MENA region would transform the discipline, as well as the communities positively affected by their incorporation. The importance of this integration was acknowledged after the inauguration of the AAR where 45 Professors from 30 different Arab universities in the MENA region became members of the AARMENA. Today, we are working together to build capacity in the field of Higher Education (HEI) in Peace, Reconciliation and Conflict Transformation Studies in the MENA region. The program countries are Austria and Germany, in collaboration with the University of Innsbruck and Freidrich Schiller University. The partner countries are Jordan (University of Jorda, Petra University), Palestine Authority (Al-Istiklal University,Al-Azhar University), and Algeria (University of El Oued, Lamine Debaghine -Setif2). Our aim and focus are on the following: -The reinforcement of the existing network of cooperating partners through further regional, as well as international, cooperation to develop a program in Peace, Conflict Transformation, and Reconciliation Studies in HEI -Cooperation of UIBK UNESCO Chair for Peace Studies with Jena Centre for Reconciliation Studies JCRS in developing interactive reconciliation workshops and sessions for a teaching program in the hosting HEI's. -To advance curriculum development in Peace, Conflict Transformation, and Reconciliation Studies as academic degree in HEI.

Project Summary
The motivation to develop a master program on “Global Supply Chain Management” is primarily driven by (1) the global trends in supply chain management; (2) its unique contribution to food security, maritime industry and humanitarian relief programs in the Middle East; (3) the institutional capacity of the partner universities to implement the proposed program and the European partners’ excellence in the field of supply chain management. With the increased use of digital technologies and the expanding scope of business operations, supply chain management stands at the forefront of the global economy, making national boundaries irrelevant and companies and countries ever closer. Supply chain management is particularly important in the Middle Eastern context as the region is heavily dependent on international trade for imports and exports and cultural issues play a major role in business practices. In such a highly competitive and globalized market environment, companies need welleducated supply chain management professionals who can easily understand cross-cultural issues and make supply chain decisions that have increasingly become less standardized, more complex, highly dynamic, and talent intensive. GLOB- SM will advance CBHE objectives of supporting modernization, accessibility and internationalization of higher education institutions by developing a highly demanded, technology intensive, and need based curriculum that is new for not only Lebanon and Jordan, but also the whole of Middle East and implementing innovative strategies and tools. Being the only program of its kind in the MENA Region, the program will not only contribute to enhancing the local and regional competences on the management of supply chain, but will also enhance the employability of graduates by providing an international standard high quality education in the field
