He has 10 goals and 21 assists for 31 points in those contests. During his career, Crosby has collected at least one point in 24 of 26 games against the Sabres. Crosby has points in all 14 career visits to Buffalo, registering nine goals, 13 assists and 22 points. In his last three visits, Crosby has a goal in each contest, and he has totaled nine points (3G-6A).

FLEURY ESTABLISHES LONGEST SHUTOUT SEQUENCE OF HIS CAREER Marc-Andre Fleury saw his career-long shutout sequence end at 164:22 minutes on Thursday night when Winnipeg’s Andrew Ladd scored at 9:36 of the first period. Fleury came within 8:54 of equaling Tomas Vokoun’s club record of 173:16 minutes. Fleury’s streak ran from the second period on Oct. 28 vs. New Jersey through Nov. 6 at Winnipeg. Fleury has 296 career wins, leaving him four shy of joining the 300-win club. Fleury enters tonight having gone 11-2 with a 1.78 goals-against average (23 GA/777 MIN), a .936 save percentage (336 saves/359 shots) and three shutouts in his last 13 starts against Buffalo. Fleury has a four-game winning streak against Buffalo, allowing just two goals on 88 shots during that span for a 0.50 goals-against average and a .977 save percentage. Fleury has shutouts in two of the four contests.

NEXT LEVEL Brandon Sutter had three points (1G-2A) on Thursday night in Winnipeg, the most points he has scored in a single game in a Penguins sweater. It marked the second time in his NHL career that he’s had three points in a game, with the first being Feb. 11, 2010 vs. Buffalo (1G-2A) when he played for Carolina. Sutter is currently on pace to establish career highs in goals, assists and points. His previous career highs are 21 goals, 19 assists and 40 points. He is on pace for 27 goals, 27 assists and 52 points. Since joining the Penguins, Sutter has 28 goals in 141 games for an average of 0.20 goals per game, which is equal to what Jordan Staal has done (25 goals in 130 games; 0.19 goals per game) for Carolina.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: PENS vs. JETS *The Penguins equaled a franchise record by going perfect (4-for-4) on the penalty kill for the ninth consecutive game. Pittsburgh previously established this mark three times: Nov. 13-29, 2010; Mar. 29-Apr. 16, 1998; and Dec. 13-30, 1996. *During this run, the Penguins are 34-for-34 on the PK. *Pittsburgh won its first shootout contest of the season. Since shootouts were instituted in 2005, the Penguins have 62 shootout wins, most in the NHL. *The Penguins allowed the first goal for just the third time this year. They are 3-0 when their opposition strikes first. *Simon Despres scored his first goal of the season, his first tally since Feb. 5, 2013 against the New York Islanders. Despres has five points (1G-4A) over his last seven contests. *Steve Downie has two goals in his first 12 games, which puts him halfway towards his final total of four in 63 games last season when he split his campaign playing with Colorado and Philadelphia.

THE MORE YOU KNOW… *Pittsburgh’s third line of Brandon Sutter (2G-2A), Steve Downie (1G-2A) and Nick Spaling (1G-1A) have combined for nine points (4G-5A) the past two games. *For the season, Sutter, Downie and Spaling have combined for 19 points through the first 12 games. To put that into comparison, last season, Sutter had 26 points the entire year as he anchored a third line that saw him playing with new players on an almost nightly basis. *Evgeni Malkin has a four-game point streak against the Sabres here in Buffalo, scoring twice and adding four assists for six points. *Marc-Andre Fleury is 5-0 with a 1.18 goals-against average (6 GA/305 MIN), a .956 save percentage (129 saves/135 shots) and three shutouts in his last five starts.

FOUR MORE YEARS The Penguins announced on Nov. 5 that Marc-Andre Fleury has signed a four-year, $23 million contract extension that has an average annual value of $5.75 million per season. The deal will begin in 2015-16 and run through the 2018-19 campaign. A 2009 Stanley Cup champion and back-to-back Cup Finalist in ’08 and ’09, Fleury is the Penguins all-time regular-season franchise leader in wins (296), games played (541) and shutouts (31). He is the longest-tenured member of the team.

MAATTA UNDERGOES SUCCESSFUL SURGERY Penguins defenseman Olli Maatta underwent successful surgery Nov. 4 to remove a tumor in his thyroid gland. Team doctors had said it was possible that the tumor was a form of low-grade thyroid cancer. Results of pathology testing to determine whether the tumor was malignant will be available within 7-10 days. Maatta is expected to be able to return to the lineup within four weeks.

DID YOU KNOW… Sidney Crosby leads all active NHL players with 16 game-deciding shootout goals following his winner on Thursday night against Ondrej Pavelec.
