INTERIM REPORT – SATURDAY 30 JUNE 2018

RACE 1 – THE DAY TO REMEMBER CUP – 1400M

Man From Seattle – When questioned regarding its apparent improved performance, Assistant Trainer Mr. S. Gujadhur explained that the stable had been disappointed with its performance last week and had changed the gelding headgears with the addition of side winkers and had removed the dropped nose band. After last week’s performance the stable was not confident and was hopeful of an improved performance. It was established that there were no stable support for the gelding. The Third Man – Jumped awkwardly and shifted out, brushing Kash Is King . Anton Ruskin – From leaving the 1100 metres commenced to over-race and threw its head when being settled to avoid the heels of Bridegroom Bertie . Inconvenienced in the early stages of the home straight by Bridegroom Bertie . Hung in in the early stages of the home straight and shifted out when being straightened. Apprentice Louis dropped his whip near the 1300 metres. Bridegroom Bertie – Shifted out in the early stages of the home straight. Inconvenienced from Anton Ruskin , which was racing on its outside. Friday On My Mind – From its wide draw was taken across to race behind runners. Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Kash Is King – Hesitated and was slow out. Carried in from leaving the 200 metres by Street Boy and had to ease passing the 100 metres when running out of room. Street Boy – Fly-jumped and was slow to begin. Leaving the 900 metres commenced to over-race, shifted in and endeavoured to pulled itself into a tight gap on the inside of The Third Man and brushed the inside rail. Apprentice Khoody was shown the video replays of the incident and told that in future he should take evasive actions earlier than he did on this occasion to ensure that his mount has adequate racing room at all times. Mr Oshkosh – Raced wide from approaching the 450 metres.

GENERAL On inquiry, apprentice Khoody ( Street Boy ) was reprimanded for careless riding under MTC Rules 160 A (f) for careless riding in that approaching the 100 metres he allowed his mount to shift in when not clear of Kash Is King (S. Bhundoo) resulting in that gelding restraining. Apprentice Louis ( Anton Ruskin ) was shown the video footage of the home straight and told that he is to be more careful when shifting ground outwards.

RACE 2 – THE INDIANOIL SCRATCH & WIN PROMO CUP – 1850M Netflix – Slow to begin. Kemal Kavur – Emaar – Raced keen in the early stages and had to be steadied when awkward close to the heels of Kemal Kavur near the 1500 metres. Leaving the 100 metres shifted out . Greys Inn Control – Slow into stride. Vet report: Lame off fore. Avail – Approaching the 450 metres was taken out to improve around Jama and raced wide from then onwards. Jama – Dropped the bit leaving the 700 metres and had to be urged forward to stay in contention. Commenced to give ground from leaving the 500 metres and was not persevered with over the final stages. New Star – Slow to begin. Leaving the 200 metres shifted out under pressure. Jockey Sooful was shown the video replays of the home straight and told to ensure that he straightens his mounts sooner than he did on this occasion.

RACE 3 –THE INDIANOIL PETROCARD CUP – 1450M Acting on veterinary advice that Le Clos had four swollen legs and was unfit to race, the Stewards ordered its withdrawal at 12.20 p.m. In view of this all bets on Le Clos were ordered to be refunded and betting with bookmakers was re-opened. Majestic Moon – Approaching the 1100 metres, for some distance, commenced to race fiercely and threw its head sideways when being settled. Approaching the 900 metres had to be checked to avoid the heels of From The Ashes , which had been taken in when insufficiently clear. World Dreamer – Jumped awkwardly and shifted out, bumping A P Strike and carrying the latter outwards with A P Strike becoming inconvenienced close to the heels of Dark Force . Shortly after the start, the saddle slipped forward, placing jockey Boutanive in great difficulty. The gelding was eventually eased down. It Doesn’t Matter – Slow to begin. Near the 350 metres was taken out to improve its position and raced wide rounding the home turn. Hung in over the concluding stages. A P Strike - Inconvenienced by World Dreamer and raced wide throughout. From the 900 metres was allowed to stride forward to race closer to the lead. From The Ashes – Raced wide in the early stages. Hoppertunity – For some distance approaching the 400 metres had to restrain when close to the heels of Volatile Energy . Stock Broker – Leaving the 1000 metres threw its head when steadied to avoid the heels of Al Firenze . Approaching the 500 metres was taken out and raced wide from then onwards. Volatile Energy - Raced fiercely in the early stages and, when being settled, threw its head on several occasions, racing ungenerously. Al Firenze – Fractious in the barrier prior to the start.

GENERAL On inquiry, jockey Rama ( From The Ashes ) pleaded guilty to a charge under MTC Rule 160 A (f) in that he carelessly took his mount inwards approaching the 900 metres when insufficiently clear, resulting in Majestic Moon having to be checked to avoid its heels. He was suspended from riding in races for two race meetings.

RACE 4 – THE INDIANOIL 15 TH ANNIVERSARY TROPHY – 1500M Correct weight was withheld for the Stewards to view the start of the race. It was established that all gates opened timeously, as such correct weight was declared on the Judges’ semaphored numbers. Chili Con Carne - Near the 1450 metres shifted in, inconveniencing Belenos with the latter then shifting in, inconveniencing Gingerbread Man . Everest – Carried out by Gingerbread Man near the 850 metres. Belenos – Near the 1450 metres carried in and inconvenienced by Chili Con Carne . Door Of Deception – Threw its head and was slow out. Steadied when close to the heels of Gingerbread Man near 1450 metres. Gingerbread Man – Inconvenienced by Belenos , shifted in, resulting in Door Of Deception having to be steadied. From leaving the 1000 metres was awkwardly placed close to the heels of Malak El Moolook and near the 850 metres was taken out to avoid the heels of Malak El Moolook , carrying Everest wider on the track. Hung in in the home straight. New Hampshire – Slow to begin. Aware – Taken out from leaving the 400 metres and raced wide from then onwards.

GENERAL On inquiry, jockey van der Merwe ( Chili Con Carne ) pleaded guilty to a charge under MTC Rule 160 A (d) for failing to take necessary steps to ensure that his mount did not interfere with Belenos near the 1400 metres. He was fined Rs.20,000.

RACE 5 – THE INDIANOIL SERVO LUBRICANT CUP – 1450M Wild Horizon refused to load and kicked the wheel of the starting gates. It was inspected by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon and found to be lame on its near hind leg. Acting on veterinary advice, the Stewards ordered its withdrawal. In view of this, all bets on Wild Horizon were ordered to be refunded and no deduction was effected on winning bets with bookmakers, the average price of Wild Horizon being 54-1. Brilliant Crimson – Approaching the 400 metres was taken out to improve its position and raced very wide rounding the home turn. Split The Breeze – Was taken out from behind Alpha Pegasi leaving the 450 metres and carried St Tropez wider on the track. Alpha Pegasi – Approaching the 450 metres commenced to give ground. St Tropez – Raced wide from the 450 metres. Belong To Me – After being loaded became fractious and jumped awkwardly, unbalancing its jockey. Bonnie Prince – Leaving the 1300 metres momentarily steadied to avoid the heels of Purple Tractor . Came off the crossing at the 1000 metres awkwardly. Was allowed to stride forward to the lead leaving the 850 metres. Purple Tractor – Approaching the 450 metres had to be eased to avoid the heels of Bonnie Prince when the latter shifted in when insufficiently clear. Leaving the 450 metres was taken out from behind Bonnie Prince and bumped on its outside. Leaving the 200 metres shifted out under pressure with jockey David switching his whip to his left hand. Cool At Heart – Slow to begin. Winter Is Coming – From its wide draw was taken across to race behind runners. For some distance approaching the 300 metres was held up when unable to improve from behind Cool At Heart .

GENERAL On inquiry, jockey Stackhouse ( St Tropez ) was reprimanded under MTC Rule 160 A (i) and advised that he must ride his mounts out to the finish of the race. On inquiry, jockey Rama ( Bonnie Prince ) pleaded guilty to a charge under MTC Rule 160 A (d) in that he failed to take the necessary steps to ensure that he did not interfere with Purple Tractor approaching the 450 metres. He was fined Rs.25,000.

RACE 6 – THE IndianOil BARBE CUP – 1600M Baritone – Was slow into stride and shortly after the start was inconvenienced. For some distance leaving the 300 metres was held up when unable to improve from behind Speed Limit and leaving the 250 metres was taken out from behind Speed Limit to secure clear running. Karraar – Raced wide in the early stages. Ten Gun Salute – Commenced extremely awkwardly and was slow to begin. Passing the 400 metres was taken out to improve its position. Kremlin Captain – Shifted outwards on jumping, inconveniencing Baritone . Enaad – Raced wide from the 450 metres. Table Bay – Slow into stride. Was taken out to go forward and raced wide from the 450 metres. Hard Day’s Night – Commenced awkwardly. Ready To Attack – From its wide draw was taken across to race behind runners. Passing the 400 metres was taken out to improve its position. Made the turn into the straight wide. Speed Limit – Approaching the 200 metres was taken to the inside of Tandragee to obtain clear running.

GENERAL On inquiry, jockey Stackhouse ( Table Bay ) was reprimanded under MTC Rule 160 A (i) and advised that he must ride his mounts out to the finish of the race.

RACE 7 – THE INDIANOIL BRINGING ENERGY TO LIFE TROPHY – 1400M Acting on veterinary advice that Mooney was found to bleed from its left nostril and was unfit to race, the Stewards ordered its withdrawal at 1 p.m. In view of this all bets on Mooney were ordered to be refunded and betting with bookmakers was re-opened. Burwaaz – Slow to begin, then taken back across on the rail. A Greater Power – Near the 1500 metres brushed with Kapteinspandiseile. Wow Holiday – Passing the 1300 metres raced tightly. Made the turn in the straight wide. Carson City – Passing 1300 metres raced in restricted room on the inside of Rebel Alliance . Held up on the turn into the straight. Kali’s Champ – Passing 400 metres was taken out from behind A Greater Power . Lay out under pressure over the concluding stages. Thrust – Raced tightly with Wow Holiday passing the 1300 metres. Rebel Alliance – Passing the 1300 metres raced tight on the inside of Wow Holiday . Euroklidon – Was unbalanced just prior to the start and commenced awkwardly. Made the crossing at the 800 metres awkwardly. Kapteinspandiseile - Near the 1500 metres brushed with A Greater Power .

RACE 8 – THE WORLD FOCUS CUP – 1365M He’s Got Gears – Slow to begin. Approaching the 900 metres steadied close to the heels of Masaar . Approaching the 100 metres steadied away from the heels of Masaar and shifted outwards. Raheeb – From leaving the 200 metres commenced to shift out under pressure. Masaar – Prior to the start being effected got its head in the adjoining stall and had to be straightened. Passing the 1300 metres commenced to over-race. Blue Jeans – Raced tightly with Newsman on straightening. Newsman – Jumped awkwardly and was slow into stride. Made the turn into the straight wide and shortly after had a tendency to lay inwards, making contact with Blue Jeans . Magic Jay – Approaching the 100 metres steadied and angled inwards to go forward.

RACE 9 – THE TUB THUMPER PLATE – 1450M Square The Circle – Prior to the start became fractious and forced its gate open with jockey Stackhouse dismounting. The barrier gate was quickly closed and the start effected. Jumped awkwardly. Raced wide in the early and middle stages. When questioned regarding its poor performance, jockey Stackhouse expressed disappointment with the performance of the gelding and explained that the incident at the start had unsettled the gelding and then had been obliged to race wide in the early and middle stages. He also advised that the gelding did not feel comfortable after the race. Vet report: Knocked its mouth in the gates. Querari’s Secret – Jumped awkwardly and shifted out abruptly, crowding Blunderbuss onto Very Vary , which in turn shifted out onto Rock Hard, bumping its hindquarter with Rock Hard becoming unbalanced and shifting in. Blundered near the 1300 metres and shifted out, carrying Blunderbuss outwards onto Bobby’s Express . Rock Hard – Raced tight on the inside of Secret Idea passing the 1200 metres. Approaching the 800 metres lay inwards, steadied and then shifted outwards. Blunderbuss , which was following, was inconvenienced and steadied. Passing the 300 metres taken out from behind Very Vary to continue going forward. Blunderbuss – Approaching the 800 metres inconvenienced and had to steady to avoid the heels of Rock Hard . Jet Path – Taken out approaching the 300 metres and raced wide rounding the home turn. Hung in the early stages of the home straight. Bobby’s Express - Slow to begin. Passing the 1300 commenced to race extremely fiercely, got its head up, carrying Square The Circle wide. Leaving the 1200 metres, was still racing fiercely and was allowed to stride to the lead.
