Inge was batting .216 with 12 home runs and 52 RBI in 82 games before injuring the shoulder Saturday night in Chicago. He had hit safely in 18 of his last 20 games before the injury and was batting .325 with runners in scoring position overall. This is his third stint on the DL, which includes a strained left groin with Detroit and a strained right groin with the A’s from May 13 to 27. Inge had started 62 of the A’s last 65 games at third base before the injury. Donaldson joins the A’s for the third time this year and is batting .153 with one home runs and seven RBI in 28 games. He was on the Opening Day roster and hit .094 with no RBI in nine games before he was optioned to Sacramento April 23. The 26-year-old returned May 12 and batted .182 in 19 games during his second stint before he was sent back to Sacramento June 21. He has started 24 games at third base and three at catcher.
