A vote by the Selection Committee will be allowed if an individual who does not meet the specific criteria listed above by who had a significant impact on their particular sport and/or team to be eligible for induction into the University of Colorado Athletic Hall of Fame. This is also where a specific team could be nominated as a unit. In order to be eligible for induction, a majority vote by the Selection Committee is required. 6) Team Recognition. The 1959 ski team was honored as a group due to its winning the school’s first national championship; but recognizing other teams is problematic; the 2012 selection committee voted to no longer consider full teams for the Hall of Fame and confirmed that members of the ’59 ski team are not individual members of the Hall and that they are eligible for nomination and induction. 7) It is preferred, but not required, that athletes have earned a degree from the University of Colorado. If a nominee has not earned a degree, special circumstances may be considered as to why. Number selected: various (minimum of four) Nominations solicited by: Alumni C-Club (through Alumni C-Club Director) Nominations submitted by: Alumni C-Club Membership (dues paying); past inductees; current and former athletic directors; current associate and assistant athletic directors and head coaches; historian Winner(s) selected by: Selection Committee (minimum 6 members from the below; 7 if SID and Historian are two people). Co-chaired by Associate AD/Sports Information and Alumni C-Club Director (who both vote), the committee includes current Athletic Director, current SID, current Historian (if someone other than the SID occupies that position), officers of the Alumni C-Club (president, executive committee chairman, treasurer), and one or two at-large members, selected by the Alumni C-Club Director and/or SID. Selection Process: Alumni C-Club Director will solicit nominations from the dues paying membership in January of the year of induction; nominations will be accepted until April 1. The selection committee will then hold however many necessary votes to pare the nominees down to the 6-8 range for induction annually (bi-annual format eliminated in 2014), and will also consider any special inductees (i.e., posthumous or a so-called “living legend”). Ballot process switched from votes to point system (10-9-8-7-etc.) in 2008, top point getters are thus selected for induction. Presentation: Athletic Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony (in the fall, around a home football game weekend) Display: A permanent display of those inducted has been temporarily created at the Coors Events Center. Despite a challenging economy, the Walter Camp Football Foundation continues to thrive and succeed. We are thankful and grateful for the support of our sponsors, business partners, advertisers and event attendees. Tonight’s dinner sponsored by First Niagara Bank is the signature event for this All-America weekend along with being the premier college football awards dinner in the country. Since Thursday, the Walter Camp All-Americans, Alumni and major award winners have had a significant and positive impact on this city, its youth and the greater community. We remain committed to perpetuating the ideals and work of Walter Camp both on and off the gridiron. Our community outreach has included a Stay In School Rally for three thousand 7th and 8th graders at the Floyd Little Athletic Center, visits to seven hospitals and rehabilitation centers, and a fan festival for families and youth to meet and greet our guests.
