OFFICIAL Rule 10(2)(d) Transport and Works Act 1992 The Transport and Works (Applications and Objections Procedure) (England and Wales) Rules 2006 Network Rail (Oxford Station Phase 2 Improvements (Land Only)) Order 202X Report summarising consultations undertaken 1 Introduction 1.1 Network Rail Infrastructure Limited ('Network Rail') is making an application to the Secretary of State for Transport for an order under the Transport and Works Act 1992. The proposed order is termed the Network Rail (Oxford Station Phase 2 Improvements (Land Only)) Order ('the Order'). 1.2 The purpose of the Order is to facilitate improved capacity and capability on the “Oxford Corridor” (Didcot North Junction to Aynho Junction) to meet the Strategic Business Plan objections for capacity enhancement and journey time improvements. As well as enhancements to rail infrastructure, improvements to highways are being undertaken as part of the works. Together, these form part of Oxford Station Phase 2 Improvements ('the Project'). 1.3 The Project forms part of a package of rail enhancement schemes which deliver significant economic and strategic benefits to the wider Oxford area and the country. The enhanced infrastructure in the Oxford area will provide benefits for both freight and passenger services, as well as enable further schemes in this strategically important rail corridor including the introduction of East West Rail services in 2024. 1.4 The works comprised in the Project can be summarised as follows: • Creation of a new ‘through platform’ with improved passenger facilities. • A new station entrance on the western side of the railway. • Replacement of Botley Road Bridge with improvements to the highway, cycle and footways. -

The catchmeut visiou may not be something that cau be achieved iu the next five years, but something we can all work towards. Whilst the Cherwell Catchment lies largely within Oxfordshire it also encroaches into Buckinghamshire to the east and Warwickshire and Northamptonshire to the north. From its source at Charwelton to the Thames confluence, the river generally flows north to south and over a length of about 96 bn falls 100 metres, draining an area o f over 900 Ian2. Agriculture is the main land use in the catchment and has influenced the character of its countryside and landscape. The contribution made by the River Cherwell to the character of Oxfordshire in particular is recognised by several policies in the Structure Plan which seek to protect and enhance its natural features. -

Canoe and Kayak Licence Requirements Waterways & Environment Briefing Note On many waterways across the country a licence, day pass or similar is required. It is important all waterways users ensure they stay within the licensing requirements for the waters the use. Waterways licences are a legal requirement, but the funds raised enable navigation authorities to maintain the waterways, improve facilities for paddlers and secure the water environment. We have compiled this guide to give you as much information as possible regarding licensing arrangements around the country. We will endeavour to keep this as up to date as possible, but we always recommend you check the current situation on the waters you paddle. Which waters are covered under the British Canoeing licence agreements? IWA SUBMISSION ON THE ENVIRONMENT BILL – APPENDIX A IWA VISION FOR SUSTAINABLE PROPULSION ON THE INLAND WATERWAYS EXECUTIVE OVERVIEW 1. Recognising the UK Government’s strategy to reduce emissions from diesel and petrol engines, IWA formed its Sustainable Propulsion Group in 2019 to identify and monitor developments which will enable boats on the inland waterways to fully contribute to the Government’s stated aim of zero CO2 emissions by 2050. 2. The Group has identified a number potential solutions that it recommends should be progressed in order to ensure that boats used on the inland waterways do not get left behind in technological developments. These are outlined in more detail in this paper. 3. To ensure that the inland waterways continue to be sustainable for future generations, and continue to deliver benefits to society and the economy, IWA has concluded that national, devolved and local government should progress the following initiatives: Investment in infrastructure through the installation of 300 shore power mains connection charging sites across the connected inland waterways network. This would improve air quality by reducing the emissions from stoves for heating and engines run for charging batteries, as well as enabling a move towards more boats with electric propulsion. Working with navigation authorities, investment in a national dredging programme across the inland waterways to make propulsion more efficient. This will also have additional environmental benefits on water quality and increasing capacity for flood waters. Research and investment into the production, use and distribution of biofuels. This will be necessary to reduce the environmental impact of existing diesel engines which, given their longevity, will still be around until well after 2050. -

Cropredy Bridge By MISS M. R. TOYNBEE and J. J. LEEMING I IE bridge over the River Chenveff at Cropredy was rebuilt by the Oxford shire County Council in J937. The structure standing at that time was for T the most part comparatively modern, for the bridge, as will be explained later, has been thoroughly altered and reconstructed at least twice (in J780 and 1886) within the last 160 years. The historical associations of the bridge, especiaffy during the Civil War period, have rendered it famous, and an object of pilgrimage, and it seems there fore suitable, on the occasion of its reconstruction, to collect together such details as are known about its origin and history, and to add to them a short account of the Civil War battle of 1644, the historical occurrence for which the site is chiefly famous. The general history of the bridge, and the account of the battle, have been written by Miss Toynbee; the account of the 1937 reconstruction is by Mr. Leeming, who, as engineer on the staff of the Oxfordshire County Council, was in charge of the work. HISTORY OF TIlE BRIDGE' The first record of the existence of a bridge at Cropredy dates, so far as it has been possible to discover, from the year 1312. That there was a bridge in existence before 1312 appears to be pretty certain. Cropredy was a place of some importance in the :\1iddle Ages. It formed part of the possessions of the See of Lincoln, and is entered in Domesday Book as such. 'The Bishop of Lincoln holds Cropelie. -
