The Momentum Dance Group has been practicing for its Sunday performance since November. Tickets to the show cost $5 on the Commodore Card, and all proceeds from the performance, which will be held at 3 p.m. in the Student Life Center, will go to the Marian Chace Foundation of the American Dance Therapy Association. “We wanted to support the arts, and when we were researching we ran into them and liked their approach to healing in using dance as a form of healing,” said Momentum Co-Chair Sarah Sharp. “It’s the nation’s largest dance therapy association. It provides treatment to patients in various hospitals.” The show will also feature performances by Original Cast, Vandy Taal, Variations, the Juggling Club and the Asian American Student Alliance. “We’re calling it a Momentum dance show, but we’re featuring all of these other groups as well,” Sharp said. Momentum is currently operated under the Vanderbilt Dance Program and performs as many as 14 shows per semester. This show will feature a wide array of dance, from hip-hop and modern to jazz and ballet. friday Vandy conquers Cal conversation AMANDA TAYLOR Entering the season with high expectations, it would have been easy for the Vanderbilt women’s tennis team to panic after losing fi ve of its fi rst seven matches. However, the Commodores chose to persevere and now fi nd themselves in the middle of an 11-match winning streak. Before playing Southeastern Conference Eastern Division foes Tennessee and Georgia this weekend, junior Amanda Taylor sat down with The Vanderbilt Hustler.

VANDERBILT HUSTLER: Returning the top fi ve starters from last year’s squad and adding two quality freshmen, the team justifi ably had high expectations. What went wrong early on? AMANDA TAYLOR: I think in some ways although we were a year older, and have two outstanding freshmen that have been nothing short of amazing so far, we were still a little inexperienced; I think we had the talent but needed to learn how to utilize it a little better. VH: Much like the men’s basketball team, you had a disappointing start and then made a complete turnaround. Coach Kevin Stallings classifi ed their early problems as a lack of identity. Is there any truth to that in your opinion? AT: Coach Stallings is an incredible coach, and the basketball team served, I think, as an inspiration to every sport on campus this year. I agree that a team needs to know who they are, what they stand for and how they are going to achieve the goals they’ve set for themselves, and perhaps we hadn’t truly answered these questions in the early part of this season.
