PRESS RELEASE January 22, 2021 Contact: Rachel Preisel Marketing Coordinator 810.237.5131 [email protected] CAPITOL THEATRE PRESENTS THE ELECTRIC LIGHT ORCHESTRA EXPERIENCE A DIGITAL STREAMING EVENT JANUARY 28-30 FLINT, Mich. – The Capitol Theatre is proud to announce another digital streaming event for the community: The Electric Light Orchestra Experience: 50th Anniversary. This event will run January 28 through January 30. Cost is a “pay-what-you-wish” format, and proceeds support The Capitol Theatre. Streaming is available for purchase January 28 through January 30 online at CapitolTheatreFlint.com. The arrangements, musicianship and vocals of the 12 ELO musicians, whose credits include an exhaustive list of the biggest names in the music industry, are the hallmarks of this new, first- class, 50th anniversary tribute to The Electric Light Orchestra. ELO's fusion of Beatle-esque pop with classical arrangements helped the group achieve significant commercial success, generating numerous instantly recognizable, chart-topping hits and album sales in excess of $50,000,000. Their hits include Evil Woman, Don’t Bring Me Down, Strange Magic, Xanadu, Mr. Blue Sky and Shine a Little Love, among many others. The show will be approximately an hour long. “Since people can’t come to the theatre, we’ll take the theatre to them,” said Rodney Lontine, Flint Institute of Music CEO. “Our team is working hard to find entertaining ways to stay connected to our patrons. We appreciate the community’s support.” The Whiting & Capitol Theatre, under the management of the Flint Institute of Music, are member organizations of the Flint Cultural Center Corporation and are dedicated to bringing the performing arts to the community. The All Time Masters of Symphonic Rock ELECTRIC LIGHT ORCHESTRA Not all rock bands are created equal! THE ORCHESTRA Starring Former Members ELECTRIC LIGHT ORCHESTRA is living proof. With a membership pedigree from 1972 to present, THE ORCHESTRA Starring Former Members ELO has launched their 2020 - 2021 TOUR, heralding a continuing era of unparalleled symphonic rock. ALL six members of THE ORCHESTRA were formerly part of the ELO Part II recording and/or touring family. Longest term member, Mik Kaminski, ELO’s famous Blue Violin Player, sometimes tells great “road stories” to interviewers - some dating back to the Electric Light Orchestra days between years 1972 through the original line-up’s finale’ performance in 1986. ELO's final 1980’s performance for several years occurred on July 13, 1986 in Stuttgart, Germany performing on the bill with Rod Stewart. ELO effectively disbanded after that final show in Stuttgart in 1986, but there was no announcement made of any plans for the various members of ELO for the next two years, until Eric Troyer and Mik Kaminski were among the principles which spearheaded the formation of ELO Part II. The former members of ELO and ELO Part II have toured domestically and internationally since early 2001 as THE ORCHESTRA Starring Former Members ELECTRIC LIGHT ORCHESTRA in over 50 countries. THE ORCHESTRA IN BILBAO by Victor Barba Gomez Last August 27th, the band played in Bilbao City situated in the North of Spain. It was the Festivities of the city, called ASTE NAGUSIA, and every day of the week were concerts in the city, in different stages and THE ORCHESTRA played in the main stage, in front of almost 8.000 people. This show was the main of the week, closing the Festivities. After the Fireworks, people were arriving to enjoy the wonderful sound of the guys that began at 12.00 in the night in a big stage with two screens. In charge of the sound was Dennis with the local crew. It was the first time that the band was playing in Bilbao, but not for Mik, who played in 1975 with ELO in his first tour in Spain. Before the sound check, the three vocalists Eric, Hux and Glen, were rehearsing together. While the band was in the rehearsals, some fans and public were approaching the stage to see the band, as a prelude of the massive attendance that later came to the show. There were press, TV cameras photographs, waiting the magic moment Opening the show with the intro and Twilight, soon the audience was handed over to the band’s songs. Glen, in Basque language, said hello to the attendance. The audience thanked this gesture. After Twilight, came All Over the World, R&R is King, Evil Woman, Sweet Talking Woman, Hold on Tight, Mama Belle, Showdown and Rockaria. Then was moment for the Intros, and Hux presented the members of the band.
