Adam Spencer began his career in radio by winning the championship in 1996. From there, Adam became a casual presenter, and eventually took over the coveted breakfast time slot, hosting from 1999 - 2004. A consummate learner, Adam holds a first class honors degree in Pure Mathematics and has an immense interest in science. These passions lead Adam to hosting the ABC program QUANTUM and FAQ from 1998 to 2001. Adam has been a regular guest on the Channel Ten’s Debate series, ABC's THE GLASSHOUSE and THE FAT. In 2003 Adam hosted HIT & RUN for the Foxtel’s Comedy Channel.

Adam’s other outstanding achievements include being voted “Best Speaker in the World’ at the World University Debating Championships. Prior to this, Adam was captain of the Austra- lian Debating Team for 3 years. He was winner of the National Championships and Winner of University Championships. Adam was a regular performer at Belvoir Street Theatre’s ‘Theatresports’ and speaks regularly at science and Maths conferences Australia wide.

At the end of 2004 Adam and his co presenter on Triple J toured the nation with THE LAST TIME TOUR, which sold out in every capital city and celebrated their time on Triple J. Adam has also toured for the last 3 years with Dr in the SLEEK GEEK TOUR, which is held during Science Week and is an hilarious one hour show combin- ing ground breaking science with side breaking comedy.

Adam has had extensive experience on various boards and authorities - he continues to serve on the Senate of the University of , the NSW Premier's Advisory Committee on Greenhouse and Global Warming and the NSW Health Department's Clinical Ethics Review Committee as well as being an ambassador for the Foundation and helping out with numerous charities.

Maria Atkinson Executive Director of the Green Building Council Maria is an Environmental Scientist and the Executive Director of the Green Building Council of Aus- tralia - a national not-for-profit industry association which promotes sustainable development and the transition of the property industry to implementing green building programs, technologies, design practice and operations.

Prior to the Green Building Council Maria spent five years with Bovis Lend Lease - during this time Maria successfully encouraged projects such as the Sydney Olympic Village to take a leadership role in developing and applying new approaches and has worked closely with many international and local agencies to share knowledge.

Maria has been awarded recognition for her advocacy of sustainable development. She regularly pre- sents at conferences, universities and delivers public lectures on sustainable development locally and internationally.

Chris O’Donnell Managing Director and Chief Executive of Investa Property Group Chris O'Donnell was appointed Managing Director of Investa Property Group in December 2000 and is responsible for the overall management of the Group. Chris has wide ranging property experience gained over 25 years working with Lend Lease, Capital Property Group, Leighton Holdings and West- pac. Adam Haddow Director— SJB Architects Adam Haddow is a Director of SJB Architects in . He is an intuitive designer who draws inspiration from the innate possibility in every aspect of urban living. Where do you see Australia in 2050?

Simply submit your “scenario” of Australia 2050. Your sum- mary will be limited to two A4 pages. The top entries will be invited to present their scenarios during Session One of the Conference. You will be given 20mins to take the audience on a journey from Australia 2005 to your Australia 2050.

We do however have a few rules that your presentation will need to abide by:

RULE #1—NO POWERPOINT—well that’s not entirely true. You can use powerpoint the program to present explosive images however a traditional, standard, boring titled and bulletpoint presentation will definitely not be accepted.

RULE #2—PROPS MUST BE USED—during the course of your presentation you will need to utilise some sort of 3D object.

RULE #3—ENGAGING THE AUDIENCE—your presentation must seek engagement from the audience

Your one page Entry will need to convince the judges that you will abided by the above three rules. Please clearly note the following in your submission:

• Your Name and Contact Details (we will except a Team Nomination); • The Name of your scenario; • General overview of your scenario and • Brief overview of the type of presentation you will be making and your commitment to abide by the Three Rules.

What is the best thing about your job? The end result.!! It is fantastic to see a great development fully completed and operational and know that you played a part in that process!

And the worst? Delays…… Given the huge national shortage of planners across the country gaining Development Approval is in some cases like extracting teeth. As the person in the middle we need to be sympathetic to the over-worked Council Planners but we can’t forget that time is money for our clients. It’s a difficult position .. So if anyone is looking for a career change I would highly recommend you become a plan- ner .. Basically you are guaranteed a job!

On a Saturday afternoon where would we find you? Most likely watching some sport on TV, out for a walk, preparing for a BIG Night, or po- tentially asleep because of a few too many drinks the night before!
