Olivares now has nine hits in his first six home games with Charleston West Virginia (Pirates) 14 12 4.0 this season. Hickory (Rangers) 8 16 9.0 Designated hitter Ricardo Ferreira was one of eight different RiverDogs batters to collect a knock. Hagerstown (Nationals) 8 18 10.0 Ferreira recorded a triple to go along with an RBI sacrifice fly and a run scored in the nine hole. Doggie Bites: Southern Division W L GB • Hanging All Zeroes: Charleston pitchers recorded their second combined shutout of the season Augusta (Giants) 18 7 - on Wednesday, striking out 14 Tourists, the second-best total this season. The Dogs also Rome (Braves) 15 10 3.0 shutout West Virginia, 1-0, on April 17th. Lexington (Royals) 13 11 4.5 • Supporting Cast: Dalton Lehnen got four runs of support in his Tuesday start. Previously, the Columbia (Mets) 13 13 5.5 RiverDogs had only scored 11 total runs in four games for the lefty starter. Charleston is now 2-3 Charleston (Yankees) 12 14 6.5 in Lehnen’s five starts, despite his 1.95 ERA, scoring an average of three runs per game that the Asheville (Rockies) 8 16 9.5 lefty starts in. Greenville (Red Sox) 5 21 13.5 • Something Had to Give: Charleston entered Wednesday’s contest with a league-low 79 runs scored, trailing next lowest Lakewood by 11 runs. Meanwhile, despite their dominant
performance Tuesday, the Asheville pitching staff had a league-worst 5.75 ERA. Asheville was able to lower its team ERA to 5.70, and Charleston raised its runs per game total to 3.19 in the victory. • One, Two Punch: The RiverDogs primary top-two hitters in the lineup had a strong final week of April. Wilkerman Garcia# Second and Oswaldo-Half Division Cabrera Winner batted a combined .325 (25-for-77) while reaching base at an over .400 clip over the last ten games of April wit h the Dogs offense following suit. The Venezuelan duo each had a base hit and an RBI, and Garcia scored a run of his own in the win on Wednesday. • Home Sweet Home: Pablo Olivares went 3-for-4 in Wednesday’s victory. The outfielder has nine hits in his first six home games with the RiverDogs this season, hitting safely in five with three multi-hit games. Olivares also hit safely in RiverDogs Quick Stats three of four games in Greensboro and has a .344 batting average entering Thursday’s series finale. 1st Half Record: 12-14 • Situational Hitting: Charleston has struggled with runners in scoring position this season but delivered with three hits 2nd Half Record: 0-0 in such situations on Wednesday. Meanwhile, RiverDogs pitchers held Asheville to an 0-for-6 total in the shutout. Home Record: 7-5 • You Mess with the Bull(pen), you get the Horns: After allowing multiple runs six times in the final eight games of Road Record: 5-9 Current Streak: W1 April, the RiverDogs bullpen has gone 6 2/3 innings without allowing an unearned run to start May.
