FILMMAKING —————————————————————————————————————————— CHAPTER 6 Andre Correa

1- What is one of the most important qualities in a successful writer/director?

Is to know how to take a critique, and use it on his own favor by accepting and correcting the flaws.

2-What do Highlander 2 and Trinity have in common? How were they creative problems solved? How would you have attempted to solve the creative differences on set?

They both had problems in the production of the film because of changing on the director of the franchise, and the main actors of each movie didn't want to make the sequel on these terms, but they were obligated to by contractual obligations. They had creative problems what made the film a disaster.

To solve the creative differences on set I would try to be as much flexible as i could by accepting new ideas and making sure the actors were comfortable with the decisions.

3- What is so unique about Highlander: The Renegade Cut?

Because of the fact it was all recreated after the failing on the previous version of it "The Hightlander: The Quickening".

Russell Mulcahy realized that the first version was a disaster and decided to make a decent version of the movie with another direction. Mulcahy secured private financial backing, re-hired few of the actors, and filmed new sequences of the film. Christopher Lambert agreed with the new directing version, and the movie got better.

4- What lessons can be learned from the tumultuous production of Highlander 2 and Blade Trinity?

That one must be flexible and consider others opinion, maintaining and even temperament and an objective eye.

5- Why is being able to take criticism an important attribute of any filmmaker? A filmmaker has to be an open-minded person, able to accept/consider a different point of view, able to realize when committing a flaw, not being egocentric, trying to learn with the people he/ she is working with.
