MARVEL/ DC SECRET FILES During these sessions you will take place of one of these superheroes from both worlds to discuss the take on action, the strategy, explain the reasons to proceed from certain way and giving enough intelligence and ideas to approach conflicted countries and regions where certain heroes from an specific nationality couldn’t enter due to political motives. OVERVIEW Dangerous objects and devices have fallen into the hands of both Marvel and DC villains. It is the mission of the UN to assign rescue missions of these objects located in different parts of both universes to avoid a possible collision of worlds and being used against humanity. The General Assembly of the United Nations and the Security Council has given special powers to heroes of different countries (and universes) to take action on behalf of the governments of the world to avoid a catastrophe and to be able to fight with the opposing forces that have taken possession of these devices, threatening humanity with them and disrupting world peace forming a Special Force. Recon missions have been done by Black Widow, Catwoman, Hawkeye and Plastic Man and we have gathered information of different objects that are guarded by villains in different locations of both universes. Some in the Marvel universe and others in the DC universe. Each artifact has been enclosed in a magic bubble that prevents its use to any being that has possession of it. But this enchantment created by Doctor Strange and Doctor Fate has expiration time. Within 48 hours, it will be deactivated and anyone who has any of these devices in their possession will be able to freely use them. -

Annual Report 2018-2019 A Note from the Chair As WFF chair for the period 2017-2019, I am working on gender equity and policy in several different ways. First, as a linguist and social scientist, I am interested in ‘representation’ – that is, the ways in which gender, diversity, and equity are discussed on campus: who focuses on them, how we talk about them, and how we can be more effective in advancing our shared aims of an inclusive campus, where all faculty can do their best work. As a researcher, I am interested in using the data collected by organizations on campus to study the impacts of existing policies and procedures. WFF’s leadership on diversity, equity, and inclusion stems from three principles: first, we reject the idea that there is a trade-off between diversity and excellence. Diversity is excellence. As researchers, we understand that knowledge and insight come through many different paths. Secondly, inclusion and respect are at the base of good scholarship. No one can do their best work if they are being undermined or intimidated. Ideas are valued on their merits, and should not be revalued according to who says them. And, finally, we strive to build these principles into what we do at the foundation, not as a nod to some token idea of “diversity talk” or “virtue signaling” at the end. WFF, as one of the few organizations on campus which reaches across Schools and Divisions, has a vital role on campus as a place for research, for advocacy, and for community and mentoring. -

Abstract: Panels were tested at different locations around the turbine blade, on both suction and pressure surfaces. Three different surface porosities were also tested. Results demonstrated that the approach can be very successful with high levels of film cooling effectiveness, exceeding 95%, achieved using low coolant mass flow rates. Increasing the surface porosity also proved to be an important parameter in the panel’s performance. Additionally, staggering the film holes lead to signif- icant positive interactions between individual films, resulting in much improved panel performance. BCALA and the ALA Graphic Novels and Comics Round Table: Afrofuturism Last updated March 15, 2021 For the next iteration of our ongoing collaboration between the Black Caucus of the American Library Association (BCALA) and the Graphic Novels and Comics Round Table of the American Library Association (GNCRT), we are presenting themed Black Lives Matter comics reading mini-lists with a continued focus on Black literature. Titles are alphabetically arranged with their target audiences denoted in parentheses: A for Adult, YA for Young Adult, and J for Juvenile. However, many of these stories cross age groups! In addition, each list includes supplementary works for a deeper analysis, and each highlights a Black-owned comics publisher. You may notice that these lists include a slim collection of middle grade titles. This is due to the dearth of readily accessible comics and graphic novels by Black creators by established children’s publishing companies. For younger children, while some board books and picture books may suffice, there is a glaring shortage of middle grade comics and graphic novels by Black creators. Evidence has suggested a significant decline in pleasure reading by age nine (Scholastic’s “Decline By Nine”), a critical year to encourage a lifelong love of reading. As essential discussions are being held surrounding diversity in literature, reluctant readers, and attractive titles for young readers, the necessity for representation must be addressed. We implore publishers to uplift Black voices by hiring Black authors and illustrators to tell Black stories of all genres and topics in which Black readers can see themselves, and readers can view different experiences beyond their own lens.
