Way back then, my friend Cynthia, who was several months pregnant, asked me if I would be her child’s god daddy. New developments! Two new developments in Steinhatchee will be catering to visiting anglers and scallopers this year. New to Steinhatchee for the 2019 scallop season is the Steinhatchee River Club located at 5800 SW Hwy. 358, about one half mile east of the bridge in Steinhatchee. Phase 1 is complete, featuring 14 “tiny house” rental cabins that can sleep up to six. The new development also offers a limited number of RV spaces, as well as a boat ramp available to guests who bring their own boat. Steinhatchee River Club also has a limited number of wet slips (boat docks) available on a first-come, first-serve basis for guests. A second phase of development is the soon-to-be-built Steinhatchee Marina at Deadman’s Bay, which has the newest fleet of rental boats in Steinhatchee available for scallop season.
