This module focuses on artists that sing about break-ups! You’ll take a closer look at their songs, describe what type of music you would play if you had your own band and continue to write your own lyrics. You’ll hear about artists like: Lady A The Calling U2 Outcomes By the end of this module you will: • Have listened to a number of artists • Sung songs about breaking up • Identify and describe some music instruments • Describe key music terms such as genre, chords and rhyme • Think about what type of band you would like to play in • Continue to write your own lyrics Equipment Nil – unless you have a guitar and want to play along! Remember when we did the module on rock n’ roll? You had bands like Kiss and Twisted Sister wearing makeup and costumes. What would you wear if you were in a band? Would you dress up? Put on makeup? Ripped jeans? A hat? Come up with a paragraph or draw pictures – or even cut out pictures from magazines - to show what you would wear! 13 MUSIC THROUGH THE DECADES MODULE 10: BREAK-UP SONGS 20. And finally. ow’sH your song writing coming along? Remember to send any ideas or lyrics to your Support Worker. Who knows, we may be able to turn your ideas into a song! Remember, we started writing songs in the first module, so if you have written a few lines then keep going! If not, well maybe it’s time to get your creative juices flowing! A song is usually made of a 2-3 verses and a chorus – normally 4 lines each. Use the following sentence starters to start writing your own song or make up your own first line and start writing! Think about using words that rhyme! I saw you walking down the street Song I was riding along... starters!
