In total Europe has currently 1,495 hotel projects in the pipeline with almost 258,200 hotel rooms.

In 2019 359 new hotels have opened their doors all over Europe. Looking at 2020 more than 33% of all current registered projects are scheduled to celebrate their inauguration. Leading countries in terms of expected openings in 2020 are the United Kingdom with 113 projects, Germany with 106 projects and France is looking forward to add 34 new hotels to their current hotel portfolio.

The 1,495 hotel projects in Europe are separated in five different phases due to their construction progress. 42% of all projects are currently in planning and 37% are under construction. The 102 hotels which are currently in the pre-opening phase are expected to celebrate their inauguration within the next six months.

53% of all hotels which are currently in the pipeline in Europe will be branded by any type of hotel chain. The other 47% will be independently owned or managed. In terms of new development, Hilton Worldwide is the leading hotel group in Europe with 133 projects in the pipeline, followed by Marriott International (70 projects) and Accor (69 projects).
